  • @PT111111 I tried it once, :/ I almost threw it out ;D And i know it was fresh, that very restaurent has a big name to protect. It tasted so weird .____. and i usually can tolerate a lot. lol

  • compared to the american version of this show, the chefs are much more nonchalant. Taking their time to get the ingredients hahahaha

  • XO-Sauce.

    It's made of dried meat and fruits rehydrated with XO Brandy.

  • XO sauce is make by dried scallop and chinese spice....NO XO is used.

  • @yungbruh22 that is the basic ingredient in XO sauce...why do i need to google for recipes when i'm a chef in 5 star hotel?cooking is more then jus looking for recipes.

  • @davidtoh83 I understand that cooking is more than just looking for recipes, However my point was that XO sauce is more complexed than just dried scallop and chinese spice. I do not want to be some young hot-shot trying to go over a well-established chef because I do not know everything and probably never will know everything. So my question is according to you what is cooking - I would like to learn?

  • This might get me some thumbs down, but the voice actor used in this episode sounds a lot like an English version of the original Ohta.

  • French cuisine actually uses sea urchin (l'oursin) quite a bit - so it was perfect for Sakai.

  • actually "mille" means "thousand" in french, so "mille feuille" means "thousand sheets" Just for all the viewers to get their facts straight! Thanks archo for the many episodes. I love each and every one.

  • Sakai's reaction to the theme ingredient was great. Also, you can tell that this is an early episode because of the lack of Iron Chef Italian Masahiko Kobe.

  • Actually, not a lot of the new eps had his thing show up eather, it was just how it was filmed, i have had seen some of the nwer ones were they would not have him come up, just saying though I know this is one of the older one.

  • Kobe didn't start until 1997.

  • Yeah. Kaga said it's been 9 months since the Stadium was born, so this takes place in July 1994. Kobe wasn't there until 1997.

  • This is obviously an early episode, Michiba was the first Iron Chef Japanese, then it was Nakamura. Nakamura didn't last long so Morimoto took over and he was the last Iron Chef Japanese. You can also tell which are the earlier episodes, they only used one guest commentator and ate in single tables, and the later episodes they used two guest commentators and all ate at a long table.

  • LooooooooooL! This is obviously an earlier episode because the dubbing voice they use for Ohta sounds so stupid and I'm glad they changed it later on.

  • It's not that early, I imagine. Masuharu Morimoto is no longer a cast member as Iron Chef Japanese.

  • Well if you can remember Roksaburu Michiba retired in 1995 after being crowned Mr. Iron Chef in 1994 and 1995. So this episode is fairly early since Michiba's portrait is still up there so before 1995.

  • Michiba came before Morimoto. Morimoto was the final Iron Chef Japanese.

  • Morimoto was Iron Chef Japanese from sometime in 1998 to when the show ended. This takes place in summer 1994, I think.

  • Sakai wins the iron chef battle lster in the series to face Alan Passard whose ment to be one of the best chefs in france and he beats him aswell.

  • Ohta's voice is all messed up in this one.. I think someone else did it. I like the regular ohta voice.

  • I believe this was a very early episode (remember that Sakai is undefeated here), and Ohta was not in the first season, so they may have still been locking his character in.
