  • I just finished the Wire a couple of days ago. I have to say, Mr. Simon, it is truly a stunning achievement. I'm actually going to be heading to Baltimore this Saturday with a friend of mine. Thanks for some of the recommendations :)

  • Sadly, Werner's closed this past spring.

  • Fantastic! Love his work. Love the message.

  • bunk is the best

  • Thank you David Simon for producing the best televison series ever!

  • Believe HON

    <3 B-more

  • "bar on every corner and a church on every other" Wendell Pierce is 2 funny, No wonder he likes BMore, New Orleans (his hometown) also has a church on every corner and a bar on the other. lol

  • Oh, my God. Royo looks so.... refined & well spoken. Damn. It's freaky not seeing him look and act like his character Bubbles. That guy deserved a friggin' Emmy.

  • fuck philly

  • @smyd23 Fuck you philly 4 life

  • What a legend!

  • hey 410 whats 410? im from moco county

  • Best show on television

  • lmao life is right .......in the suburbs.

    classic shit...

the wire forever bring it back.. 410 for life e.a we in here

  • Where is this video originally from?

  • @me55123

This was produced by VisitBaltimore (then called Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Assoc.). Some would argue that The Wire is the last thing a tourism group would want to embrace. But they also knew that Baltimore is a real and honest place -- there is so much more depth to Baltimore than the Inner Harbor.

  • Im subscribing to HBO just because of his new show coming out "TREME" it's going to be an interesting show about "EVERYTHING" about before and after and during the storm..

  • @dninc

I too was excited to watch Treme. Alas, I couldn't get through it. So preachy and the characters were so meandering.

  • Philly & Baltimore are very similar like twin sisters

  • He makes it sound like Baltimore doesn't have a murder rate up and a crime rate higher than average. But, God damn, I want to check the city out.

  • yeah, Bubbs is a cool character...

  • 3:30

When Andre Royo, Bubbs, comes on the screen, I get a warm feeling in my heart. Seriously.

  • For all Sarah Palin's posturing about The Real America - and God help the rest of the world if that's the real America - in just watching 10 episodes of The Wire, I think Simon has painted a more honest, and in some ways, more decent portrayal of what that means.

  • Yeah Treme is going to be awesome. It's not another season of The Wire but it's the closest thing to it.

  • I can wait for his portrayal of New Orleans in his new series "Tremé"

  • When is this happening?

  • thats a very good point but they can get a new ruthless killa like omar

  • please please please make a 6th series

  • but omar is dead!!! whats the wire without omar?

  • HELL YEAH!

  • The Wire shows society as whole, problems and conflicts on every level. Anyone who thinks The Wire is a "cop show" about "the hood" did not understand what it at all.

  • @JohnAndrewFalcon i do consider it to be a "cop show", why? Well basically it's story consist of Detectives trying to struggle in there life and break out of their institution and same goes with the gangsters in the movie.

  • Just watched the last episode of the wire today. Best thing ive ever seen on a screen.

  • I make some music inspired by your show.I loved that show,I know that your in Baltimore but it's grimy like that where i grew up in Detroit MI.You captured real life street on film. The best!

    Thanks for The Wire

    U.D.

  • gave me good insight

  • thanks for posting this. I couldn't agree with more with David in regards to the blandness of suburban life. but what is up with this hatred of everything DC? Simon grew up in Silver Spring for crying out loud.

perhaps it's cause when you mention you live in "DC" it often means you're really from the Burbs (Mont, PG, NoVa) as opposed to the city itself. any native Baltimorians care to elaborate?

  • It's part that DC is so manufactured based on the politics. It's a fine place, but no one is actually from the city itself. Like you said, the counties. But, in the city, they are from everywhere else. Baltimore has a chip on its shoulder about DC (and Philly and NYC) for sure. But, as a resident and a frequenter of DC, there's just a reality, a long-running reality, to Baltimore that you don't find in DC.
