  • Cut spending, raise taxes.

It's the only way to get out of this decade of deficit.

  • Okay, so im from Sweden. Our healthcare system allows private competition and the private companies are certainly not going bankrupt. All treatment is payed through taxes and you can pick wich ever hospital you want, public or private. This system is cheaper, more effective and better for the economy. We arent written off sick as long as americans. Exactly what part of this is so bad? By the people, for the people, isnt that what you say? I dont understand you guys... =(

  • @MENJAGVETJUINTE For one thing, you have 30 million people, we have 350 mill. The other thing is we can pick whatever we want as well, but without paying the huge tax rate. Unlike you, we never have to wait for any sort of treatment. Even those without insurance get treated at hospitals. They can't choose their doctor and may have to wait for hours, but they will get treatment that day. Why would we want this changed?

  • @ricadrew Im quite unsure of your facts there. First of all, we're 9 million people, not 30. If you go to a hospital, you may of course have to wait, sometimes for hours of course, but sure you get treatment the same day. But we spend less money on healthcare, just that it goes via taxes. There's no such thing as not affording healthcare. Although we've had peace for like 200 years so i suppose we get more back from our taxes. Even though we pay the fee for European Union, wich aint worth it. =/

  • Oh yeah, and anyone can choose a doctor. Personally i dont think it matters really who runs the healthcare in itself. Whoever that can guarantee everyone healthcare should be the one running the healthcare system too. It's just not that bad of a system. Every other western country has the same system, just not you guys.

  • @MENJAGVETJUINTE I was thinking of Canada with 30, but 9 makes my point even more. It's the reason why it can work to whatever level in Sweden, with 350, it's a whole different animal. But i've talked to a few others on YT from Sweden and they say the wait could be days, weeks or sometimes months when it comes to surgery. Not that way here, we get it as soon as we need it. How can your H.C. be cheaper? If you want to go with private, you're still paying for gov care. And the peace thing? HUH?

  • If u wanna go with private, u dont pay no fee. Just like with everyone else. And we pay less per person for our healthcare than avarage americans. The total healthcare cost is smaller per person, the healthcare is more effective also. If you're waiting for surgery we have a so called "healthcare guarantee" wich guarantees it within a month. A reform that's relatively new since some years back actually. Oh yea, and our military dont cost much, wich means more money for other stuff.

  • @MENJAGVETJUINTE If you go private your taxes are still funding the system, couldn't work any other way, so you're paying twice and don't even realize it.

And again, we don't wait for surgery. May sometimes for elective surgery, but then that's maybe a week or two tops. People living outside the US just can't grasp that we do not wait with our healthcare. Some big cities people sometimes may have to wait for a few hours and we consider that waiting. And no-body is denied life saving surgery.

  • @MENJAGVETJUINTE The cost of our military though high, is minute compared to the rest of the countries budget.

But here's the thing the rest of the socialist world can't get their heads around, it doesn't matter what they spend on the military, it has no bearing on our healthcare. The government does not provide us this, we do. Out of our own pocket we take responsibilty for our own needs. We don't like depending on gov for anything! That's what seperates us from the world, individual liberty!

  • @ricadrew Socialist world? Capitalism is global, thats why its called globalism. I consider myself anarchist though. You know, the government dont provide anything. Everything it does is we paid for ourselves. However, we have max 1 month waiting for surgery, u cant be denied it, theres no fee, its more effective and cheaper on the whole. Shorter lines because less people afford healthcare isnt really a positive thing, is it? We dont live in Pakistan, we're actually able to have heathcare.

  • @ricadrew It's not really a political issue. Of course it's better the more people that are guaranteed healthcare, and best if everyone is. 1 person without healthcare is still 1 too many. Being beaten by lousy countries such as Cuba and the like on this issue cant really be your proudest moment. It's not about government, it's about people and their rights. Having the best opportunities to live is our right to have and duty to provide. Seriously, why not everyone?

  • What is Uncle Tom Steele gonna do when the RepubliCon Teabaggers put on their sheets and start lighting their crosses?

  • "we have the best healthcare system in the world, and it needs reform"

no one see a problem with that?

  • Not to defend him, but I think he was asserting that quality-wise, we have the best, but it needs reform because of the costs. It's debatable, but that's what he was going for.

  • yeah but you don't have the best system. youmay have the best faciltes but you don't have the best system by a longshot.(i'm british)

  • Yeah I definitely agree. Facilities, yes, but system. no.

  • BUT it needs reform he said

  • Health Care Bill states on pages 425 - 430 that it will cease taking care of the elderly as they progressively get older. The government will let them just die! We must protect these vulnerable people when their need for care is at its highest! Everyone will eventually get frail, Please read it for yourself and contact your Senators, this is urgent!

  • Obama's Politics of Collective Redemption

    By Kyle-Anne Shiver

And in this seemingly redemptive offering, Obama may be promising what only God can actually deliver, in the form of yet another, more eloquent, version of the same old utopian dream that started with Rousseau and Marx.

  • America needs reform of the health care system but adding uninsured illegal immigrants, cutting senior citizens Medicare, and allowing members of Congress to opt-out of their government run plan while no one's telling us what all this will cost is not the reform I want! Our politicians need to starting having townhall meetings with regular folks and asking us what we want instead of ignoring us and doing what they think is best for us whether Democrate or Republican.

  • BIGGEST REPUNK bunch of bull

Us republican party outsources fund raising to india - The Inquirer

you would not even pay americans to help you win a race to run america

you are a bunch of pathetic trolls

  • Youd didn't refute a thing I said. The real estate market began to crack in 2006, the stock marke began going down the following year, and everything snowballed in fall of last year. Are you saying AIG and all the other banking problems didn't result from the credit crisis? You're such a raving lunatic you don't even read what I say.

  • aig happened because of deregulated bank loans that they insured ..IE TOXIC ASSETS

I read the lies you and the rest of you repunks have been saying since bushpunk got in

I dont believe them because i know the real truth

SOMETHING YOUR PUNK ASS IS TO BLIND TO ADMIT.

timeline 1981 reagen gets in 1986 lincoln savings fails

1988 mild reccesive trend cali realestate loses 1/2 value

timelime 2001 bushpunk gets in 2006 indymac fails

2008 major recession and stock market crash

    like 1929

  • only a punkass mind like yours sees any cause and effect in this timeline. By the way, banking deregulation was signed into law in 1999 by Pres. Clinton and supported by Biden, Dodd, etc. SOMETHING YOUR PUNK ASS IS TO BLIND TO ADMIT.

  • that little document was slipped into a 33000 page bill that contained a lot of programs that clinton wanted

ie your guys stuck it in something so big that it would be missed..

just like your guys trained the bay of pigs guys for 2 years and left kennedy two embarassing possibilities

one dont pull the trigger and ride out the bad press or 2 pull the trigger and pray

thanks to your boy nixon as the vice pres oversaw cia back then

NOW GO FUCK OFF LITTLE REPUNK

  • Four words: Bush fucked us over. You know it..everyone knows it. The whole reason why people are still arguing over it is because the Republican party does not want to admit that they had such a bad representative. No problems...no problems..we will get ourselves out and all will be well.

  • hey Dino dumbass I know econ and I lived thru the recession of 1988 where your boy daddy bushpunk said read my lips no new taxes and then he raised them

Coolidge and Hoover were repunk pretzledents. Thats historic fact, the depression of the 30's did not start to turn around till a DEMOCRAT named roosevelt the wpa and other GOV SPENDING

    JUST LIKE OBAMA HAS DONE

be sure to call me an Idiot again as thats all that you repunk fools can do when your confronted by IREFUTABLE FACTS AND PROVEN HISTORY

  • What facts? All I've seen are misspelled words, bad grammar, and bizarre thoughts. Your "facts" are laughable. The current recession was caused by the collapse of the credit bubble caused by the federal reserve and Fannie Mae purchasing a trillion dollars worth of bad loans. The 2001 recession began two months after Bush was elected and was caused by the dotcom bust under Clinton. Any economic historian can tell you that. But you're a fucking moron so it's like talking to a stone wall.

  • GOD YOU ARE A STUPID LIAR AS WELL AS A LOSER

    the bubble burst in 2006

INDYMAC BANK WAS THE FIRST MAJOR FAILURE

thats 2 and half years ago DUMBASS

the aig failure happened at the end of babybushpunks term

the stock market failed in OCT of 2008

the election was in NOV 2008 DUMBASS

  • oh thats right dino your a repunk

YOU WILL ALWAYS blame the other guy for your partys failures

JUST like you bums blamed carter

you forget he inherited the Vietnam recession from nixon and ford

just like you blame kennedy for bay of pigs.

even though IKE and VICE PRETZLEDENT nixon

    trained them

  • It sounds like you're the one who keeps making excuses for your party. Every major historian pans Carter. Kennedy ordered the Bay of pigs, it had nothing to do with Ike and Nixon. Your paranoia really needs to be treated medically.

  • The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. The five senators, Alan Cranston (Democrat of California), Dennis DeConcini (Democrat of Arizona), John Glenn (Democrat of Ohio), John McCain (Republican of Arizona), and Donald W. Riegle, Jr. (Democrat of Michigan), were accused of improperly intervening in 1987 on behalf of Charles H.

  • Gee, they were all DEMOCRATS except McCain. What's your point? McCain was cleared of wrongdoing, so this is more an indictment of Democrats, not Republicans. YOU STUPID DUMBASS.

  • i ONLY TALKED ABOUT MCCAIN DUMBASS

HE WAS CLEARED FOR THE SAME REASON THAT BUSH HAS NOT BEEN BROUGHT UP FOR WARCRIMES

OR FOR THE REASON YOUR REPUNK CONGRESS REFUSED TO REMOVE CLINTON EVEN AFTER YOU HAD HIM SET UP ON IMPEACHMENT FOR LYING

WHY DID YOU GUYS NOT REMOVE HIM

  • tbaarr, your mother died because she was so embarassed she had an idiot son like you. You're the loser.

  • yes you are a punk ass idiot

your a repunk supporter that proves your stupid

you still support a party that has brought this nation to recession 2 times in 20 years

with the same real estate bubble burst

and you probably were so stupid you voted for McCain

one of the 5 members of the charles keating 5 that were investigated by congress for their part in the lincoln savings failure

YES YOU ARE THE IDIOT DINO BUTTHEAD

  • Your ignorance of economics and history is so astounding, that even if you took the medication you so desperately need, you still wouldn't be able to comprehend it. Have you seen a psychiatrist recently? Anyone who is so bubbling over with hate really needs to see one.

  • DINO JACKASS be sure to take your oxycotinn and listen to your druggie rushgod today.

I dont need help because I survived the last repunk recession and learned from it. YOUR TO STUPID TO LEARN.

and you further prove your stupidity by trying to insult me BECAUSE YOU CAN'T REFUTE MY FACTS.

those facts are history..of course you repunks always ignore the history that does not serve your goals.

THATS WHY YOU REPUNKS ARE BLOCKING OBAMA every chance you can

  • because you cant admit the possibility that he is gonna fix the mess you repunks caused again.

you really mucked it up this time..at least in 1988 all you did was dereg the s/l so they could fail do to greedy repunk ceo's going for short term profits.

that lead to the housing bubble burst of 86-89

I know cause I lived in cali in the 80's and watched it happen. YOU probably were still in diapers.

  • As for your precious american heath care system its worse than the canadian. my mom paid HMO premiums for years. Yet when she had a heart valve go bad they refused to approve surgery. All they gave her approval for was blood thinners that made her diabetic and in less than 5 years she died. She did not have a home to sell like that canadian you repubs are advertising. She had no money to pay for heart surgery. DONT BLOODY TELL ME PRIVATE INSURANCE IS A GREAT THING.

all they care about is profits

  • Every Canadian I talk to says that there healthcare system is great.

The ones who say otherwise are always US Republicans.

  • you repubs did nothing to solve this problem for 8 years..ALL you did was run this country into a recession just like you did under reagan and bush ..same bloody real estate bubble burst in 1986.. NOW THERE IS A SOLUTION AND ALL YOU LOSERS DO IS TRY TO BLOCK IT

  • In 1990 the U.S. government took control of a brothel that had been running and profitable for years. After the government took control of it (due to income tax evasion) it failed....The same morons that couldn't make a profit from an already profitable whorehouse now wants to take control of the U.S. Health Care system. Does anybody think this is a good idea?

  • Really? Link, please?

  • canadians pay higher taxes

  • So what?

We pay way higher healthcare costs.

  • apparently Steele is planning to apply his "fried chiken and potatoes" idea to my health care.... At some point you need to stop the fear factor, kitchy phrases and start CONTRIBUTING. Do you honestly think that if you help the repubs BEAT obama.. THEY'LL LET YOU RUN???

  • agreed i dont now why that uncle tom helping them

  • And what is funny is folks think that Government-Run Health Care is good. Well, it is not so funny after all.

  • i agree why are ppl so stupid .

  • 37 United States of America 37 ur country is 37th on the list of good health care systems. Malta A country with less money then you salary has a better system then you and you have the balls to say a private only system is good?

  • ....if it wasn't for the fact i don't believe in killing believe me you would be on the top of my list now answer me fool is CANADA a communist land? (other then Harper we must have been all drunk it seems when we voted that foll in) but over all in Canada we have a very healthy mix of private and public health care i know this because i live in Canada. I have also traveled most of the us of a and your health system blows to ours

  • not what i have heard from Canadians when I was up there all they did was complain about the health care how it took forever to be seen and how they would come down here on "vacation" so they could get an operation

  • That is a lie.

  • I have never had any Canadian tell me what.

These stories always come from US citizens, why is that?

  • You don't know what you're talking about. Thousands of Canadians come down here every year to get the care they can't get up north.

  • Really? Back it up. I say that it's BS.

Why aren't they moving here? Because they love the freezing cold??

Their healthcare is what keeps them there.

  • According to the New England Journal of Medicine, one out of every three Canadian doctors has sent a patient to the U.S. for treatment each year (spending over a billion dollars annually in this country). When care is rationed, as it is in Canada, why would that be surprising? Canadians pay double and triple what we pay in income taxes, and you call that a great deal? They take it from one pocket and put it in the other, and guys like you are actually fooled by it!

  • Link to article?

One of three Canadian doctors has sent "a" (as in one) patient to the US?? Wooow.

We are wasting HUGE money here in the US on the health insurance companies themselves. What do they do? Do they perform operations? Do they drive ambulances?

Triple taxes??? Uh, no. You are posting false information. If your position was so secure, you would not need to do that, would you.

  • It's from the NEJM, no. 328, April 8, 1993. That translates into tens of thousands of patients each year. There's nothing funny about it. And exactly what HUGE amount of money is being wasted by insurance companies? They pay for most of my medical needs, with very modest profit margins. In Canada, I would pay more than double what I pay here in taxes. The great majority of Americans are satisfied with their health care. If you don't like yours, then go to Canada.

  • Insurance companies pay for your medical needs?? Funny, I thought we payed them, lol

The phrase "the great majority of Americans are satisfied with their healthcare" is simply false.

American healthcare isn't too bad of you happen to work for a large company, but for small business owners like myself, it completely sucks.

No, I don't like mine, and I won't go to Canada, I will stay in my country and fight for a better system.

I deal with many Canadians, and they love their healthcare.

  • Thank you for posting the article. What did you think of this part?

"Results In the United States, 23 percent of the physicians surveyed thought the health care system worked well, as compared with 33 percent in Canada and 48 percent in West Germany. Seventy-three percent of U.S. physicians reported that patients' inability to afford necessary treatment was a serious problem, as compared with 25 percent in Canada and 15 percent in West Germany. "

  • Whatever concerns U.S. doctors have with patient care, they certainly don't support the Canadian system. If we had real reform like capping malpractice suits and allowing interstate competition between insurance companies and repealing the mandates for gold plated coverage, among other things, the cost of care would drop significantly. Start blaming the government for the high cost of health care cause that's where the problem lies.

  • That's all bullshit. Capping malpractice suits? You're talking to a guy who lost his mom a year and a half ago to a doctor who overprescribed her pain meds, in addition to having a mentally handicapped brother who was the result of malpractice when my mother was pregnant, Mr/ Perfect World.

The billions that go to insurance companies instead of the healthcare system itself, and you want to blame the govt., lol.

I think you're a paid RNC hack myself, because this is just too easy.

  • With all due respect, you clearly have an agenda other than improving health care. You want to punish the big bad insurance companies regardless of the facts. Where do you think the billions we pay to the insurance companies go? They go to pay claims. Their profits are a very small percentage of the health care bill. Facts matter, Mr. Hess.

  • With all due respect, you wish to pay insurance companies, rather than doctors and other personnel that are truly needed in the healthcare industry.

The last thing we need are more paper pushers.

Yes, facts do matter, and claiming that you have them does not make it true, nor fool anyone.

    There's your agenda.

The fact is, health insurance companies milk a system where they are actually not needed.

  • From the article you posted:

"Results In the United States, 23 percent of the physicians surveyed thought the health care system worked well, as compared with 33 percent in Canada and 48 percent in West Germany. Seventy-three percent of U.S. physicians reported that patients' inability to afford necessary treatment was a serious problem, as compared with 25 percent in Canada and 15 percent in West Germany. "

Perhaps you should study your sources more carefully.

  • The overwhelming majority of Americans are quite satisfied with their healthcare, and we sure don't come to Canada to get care we can't get here.

  • Uh, actually we do, maybe you should reread that 15 year old '93 article you flaunt so much.

  • Americans don't go to Canada for health care, they go for the lower prices of some drugs since Canada has price controls. And as always happens with price controls, they don't have access to many of the latest drugs like we do. Really, if you like rationing, high taxes, long wait times for some treatments, and less satisfaction with your care than Americans have, move there. You are clearly a distinct minority in this country.

  • Like I said before, I have no intention of moving there.

Repeatedly inviting me to shows a low mentality on your part.

If you do so again, just keep in mind that I will step down to your level briefly and tell you to fuck yourself, then move to Canada, since I'm here and you don't seem to appreciate my posts. If disagreement is so challenging for you, perhaps YouTube isn't the best place for you. Really.

  • Sorry but I have to agree with Franz on this one. I have been watching CSPAN and various news channels and all conservatives say is " Americans hate paying taxes". If they hated it, they would not have voted Obama in office because they obviously wanted change so its false. On behalf of all the americans out there, I can say that for the past 8 years we have had a crappy president that led us to this situation.

  • Comment removed

  • heal yourself! a doctor makes no money if you get better. and they dont get perks from the pharm reps either. wonder why a pill cost so much? look at all the things your dr has with the drugs name on it in his or her office. that chit cost money.

  • From the AP:

"In a revamped health care system envisioned by senators, people would be required to carry health insurance just like motorists must get auto coverage now. The government would provide subsidies for the poor and many middle-class families, but those who still refuse to sign up would face fines of more than $1,000.

The details were unveiled Thursday in a health care overhaul bill supported by key Senate Democrats looking to fulfill President Barack Obama's top domestic priority."

  • More from AP:

The Congressional Budget Office estimated the fines would raise around $36 billion over 10 years. Senate aides said the penalties would be modeled on the approach taken by Massachusetts, which now imposes a fine of about $1,000 a year on individuals who refuse to get coverage. Under the federal legislation, families would pay higher penalties than individuals."

As you can see, the Obama government doesn't want you to have a choice.

  • What people are not realizing is that YOU are going to PAY for any health care plan, ITS NOT FREE! No matter what the Administration tells you, there is NO FREE RIDE. So you can pay for the plan thrw your taxes or from your paycheck.

So you decide, Do you want the Governmnt to control your health care, or do you want to control it yourself.

  • Government because if it were just man vs. medical care..we would be paying twice as much.

  • Ok, now tell me who do you go to when you need help because you feel the "GOVERNMENT System" screwed you? When was the last time you asked your "representative" to give you a hand against a gov agency. My experience the last time I asked is they pretend to be in your corner, but do NOTHING. It isn't in THEIR best interest to help you. Unless however you donate LOTS of money to their next campaign.

Do you have LOTS of money to donate? if you are relying on the gov for health care, bet you dont

  • Same thing here..who would help you out if private corporations ran everything with minimum government control? They would want you to pay twice as much for help that they could decide whether to really help you out or give you minimum treatment so that you keep coming back and giving your money away to them. With a government at least its easier to impeach individuals to where you find the right people to serve you. Private corporations...once you give them your money..you will never see it.

  • "With a government at least its easier to impeach individuals to where you find the right people to serve you"

Really; please explain that to the people who are on Medicaid or Medicare.

    Don't you get it;

    you need to retain control and responsibility for your health care;

When you go to your doctor YOU are the boss, not the government; not the insurance company.

Its much easier to change doctors/insurance companies than it is to change governments.

  • Not really..if the government gives us free healthcare it would not matter. If you are against it..you still have the right to go to your own private med. It will be cheaper for the people that cannot afford to have private meds. With your point with, many people still do not have responsibility or control of their healthcare because they clearly cannot afford it. So it should be said that we should just accept government healthcare and if you dislike it..its your right to have whatever control.

  • yes, really. How silly to say, well if you don't like the govt monopoly after you're already paying high taxes to support it, just pay more to see a private doctor, even though most people can't do it. Do all Canadians have such a submissive, weak personality? This is called the sanction of the victim.

  • What a fucking idiot. It won't be affordable because its costs will be so low that it beats the competition? How can he say that with a straight face? How many millions is his party getting from Health Care Companies to confuse the populace and make them do things against their own interests?

This man is an evil elitist, who will fight for the rights of the rich and the end of the middle class.

  • Why would anyone listen to this blithering idiot? This is the same genius who came up with the bright idea to make the GOP more hip-hop friendly!!! Dumb as a bag of rocks.

  • TheSage555...The majority of Politicians are elitist.

Look at how they spend tax dollars. They don't have ANY idea what it is like to work paycheck to paycheck. Please, show me a Senator or Congressman that isn't a Millionaire. They ALL get kickbacks from Industry.

If Cap and Trade passes the Senate, a LARGE number of these idiots are going to get RICH, meanwhile, we get screwed.

  • true that bro.

  • This has no connection with the video but just wanted to put this out there. The majority of conservatives are religious people right? mostly catholic and christian that want to help people. What I don't get is why the liberal party..mostly stereotyped with "other" religions, our belief in science. and atheistic behavior would even be considered immoral. We are the party that seems to be helping everyone but ourselves and we still get downgraded. Doesn't make much sense.

  • REAGAN!

  • In international rankings in terms of health-status statistics the U.S. is ranked 38th, that isn't the best in the world in my book. If you don't have the money or the insurance it doesn't matter how good it is does it?

  • This message brought to you by the big insurance companies. Repubicans bought and paid for by big insurance.

  • Thank you, Chairman Steele. I love it when you explain why we shouldn't have a public option. Because the government would do it so well, that the private sector cannot compete. Please stop treating Americans like idiots.

  • Do me a favor tell me one thing the government has run well. Well there is social security. Whoops they failed at that, also medicare, medicade, usps, ballot counting, hmm... let's see here, o right nothing they never do anything right even NASA they still have problems with. Medicare has approx. 25 million if they can't handle that how are they going to handle all of America. USE YOUR FUCKING BRAIN GOD GAVE YOU ONE YOU STUPID LIBERAL SCUM!

  • Thank you for lowering the discourse. We should definitely indulge in schoolyard name calling. If you spend two minutes searching the internet you will see that medicare and medicaid have very low administration costs, which is why they can provide quality service. The republicans in congress are obviously hypocrites because they are currently under the public option and are not complaining about how they are being treated by government run health care.

  • True..but the real reason that conservatives do not like government is because when the government is controlled by them they keep getting screwed over. If they only knew how a good government was run..everyone would agree both conservatives and liberals alike. One man does not a country make..we all have to work together.

  • Amen. And conservatives should be playing an important role, but they are choosing instead to just turn their heads and scoff. A lot of these issues need some legitimate debates, but when all the republicans talk and act crazy, no one will listen to them. They are so flabbergasted that they are out of power that they don't know what to do. So instead they are all acting like spoiled teenagers. Pout Pout Pout. Grow up. Government is for adults. Act like one and you'll get your voice heard.

  • I agree. If you still resist the government then it is assumed you really do not know how one works.

  • "If you still resist the government then it is assumed you really do not know how one works" I think its time that you go back and read the docs that created this govt. You know those pesky docs, like the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Bill of Rights; Then go look at the writings of our founding fathers. This gov wasn't formed to control the people, the people were supposed to control this gov; those docs were specifically designed to keep the Gov out of your hair so you can prosper

  • Well that is factual evidence that government should not control or is it? It seems that now each of those documents can be misinterpreted to follow one's views. No to mention.. the constitution with its laws are also open to revision provided 2/3 vote by the Senate when a law passes. Over the 8 years..it should be apparent that people really do not know how to control themselves that brought about this new change that Obama is presenting. They had 8 YEARS.

  • Yea, like under Carter. Conservatives don't like government because it takes so much of our money and does little in return except push people around and create government monopolies. Maybe you like being treated like that, which is too bad.

  • Its amazing, did you know that average age of the people commenting and blasting this video is 21 years old; LOL most of them are STILL ON DADDY'S INSURANCE.....

  • I cant speak for others but as for me I work 32 hours a week in order to be eligible for the health care plan offered by my job. As a college student I have to choose between top grades or health. I choose the practical short term health insurance over future opportunity offered by high marks in school.

  • "As a college student I have to choose between top grades or health."

I don't understand why you can't have both. Work hard. Study hard. And before you say that you don't have time, remember that you're here on Youtube. That time could have been spent studying.

  • I find that to be absolutely fine because its should not matter with age..everyone is trying to find the best option for them. There should be no one that has to be laughed at or downgraded just because they need more time to be independent. For me I was lucky and was able to get a job worthy of my time, you can still work as hard as you want but some people really need that option.

  • So your saying your independent? You rent/own your own home? Pay for your own food/electric/gas/health care/transportation? Or being born in the 90's as you stated in a previous comment(which means the oldest you could be is 19) you still rely on your parents to provide you with those things?

You see it IS a matter of age; what right do you feel you have making a decision YOU don't have to pay for? I remember when my 19 yr old came home with his first paycheck and whined; they took taxes out.

  • Yeah..I too was stunned to see my $500 paycheck down to $350 but what can we do? We have to pay for the people in our country that cannot afford to even get jobs now days. I was stunned..but very supportive that it would be going towards good use. Everyone works hard but there needs to be a time when we contribute back to our country when people are in need of help.

  • arviagent13, here is what we all can do, tell our representatives to STOP spending friviously. No one ever said they won't contribute their fair share; Common sense says you can't spend your way out of debt. It doesn't work in your house, it won't work for this country. So, fix the Country by doing the right thing? or create free intitlements, basically hand out cash to buy votes? Our govt wasn't created to be a nanny, it was created to protect us while leaving us alone to prosper

    You decide

  • I was fortunate to have a job and I make enough money luckily to pay off my college tuition as of right now...but a little aid from parents is not and should not be a big deal. For other teenagers and adults at age 21, its still fine as many are still left without jobs. They may need their parents' assistance until they are sure enough that they can stabilize. Remember there is nothing wrong with competition but there are always people that are very unfortunate that always are left behind.

  • wow. virtually every major assertion he made is either a half-truth or an outright lie.

    a) won't promote competition/monopoly - outright lie. the gov't option (not monopoly) forces the existing health oligopoly to compete, driving down costs

    b) can't keep ur plan, private sector can't compete - make up ur mind chairman steele. either the private sector is the best in world, i.e. can compete so u keep ur plan or the private sector is raping consumers requiring a gov't option for balance.

  • Wow; B is a pretty naive statement; So, when your employer sees that its less expensive to pay the "FINE" if he doesn't provide health care then it is to give you quality health care AND lose the tax benefit for providing it, exactly which option do you think your employer chose? You don't see that this is one in the same?

  • great point. but we don't have to speculate about employer behavior.

microsoft, google, sgi, intel & a host of thriving employers don't have to buy quality health care today & could chose cheap products for their employees, but they don't, why? because quality health care helps them attract & retain the best employees

unless u think a) the gov't option will eliminate these thriving employers or b) the gov't plan will be the best plan available, not only is "b" not naive, it's most likely

  • jasonsadventure, your right, we don't have to speculate; if you research on microsoft, google, sgi and intel's point of view regarding health care; you will find that all of these companies are pushing for a govt plan;

So tell me why they would be doing that?

Maybe it would remove the EXPENSE of having to supply that benefit and STILL attract and retain the best employees.

Business 101: Reducing expenses = higher profits.

  • yo glsnj, for the gov't plan to "remove expense," it would have to be free and it won't be free, just competitive. and as i indicated for businesses to choose it, it would have to be better

this is why american biz wants it: forced to compete with a gov't plan will lower health care costs (also in business 101)

but your observation points to another advantage with the gov't plan reduces costs (via competition), is therefore pro-business, thereby creating jobs & shrinking the deficit

  • jasonsadventure...There is no competition under the Obama plan. The Obama administration is going to FINE anyone who doesn't accept the government plan. $1000 for an individual, and much more for a family.

Anyone can see this isn't a fair choice like you claim, and isn't there to compete, it's there to control every individual. Who in there right mind would accept a private plan and take a government enforced fine. Only the elite can take a financial hit like that.

  • but to protect both businesses and consumers the public option in some form must be considered. the restrictions of such an option must be considered. not the public option being completely denied based on speculations. why is it that the business must be treated in special favor while the consumers who keep these businesses alive be thrown to the road?

  • I agree..and people who tell me those owners worked hard to get it are insane. We all work hard and we all deserve to have better lives. And a flaw in conservative thought is that if you work hard enough, you will get there. Does that mean that ever single fucking individual in the U.S. could potentially be an owner of a company? What kind of shit statement is this?

  • the american way is competition. why is everyone so afraid of that competiton. this same fear arose when the government wanted to create the DWP to sell electricity. did edison fall to bits. no it didnt. it forced edison to provide better service and it made them a better company. their should be definite checks on what the public option can provide and possible co-op plans should also be considered.

  • Just saying... The memorandum he was talking about says gop plan will do this and that but fails to mention what that plan is. it further does not mention why the obama plan will not work. and as a counter to his statement of private sector not being able to compete. the private sector is providing health care that is way too selective to include everybody. they consistently try to get out of paying and make it very difficult for consumers to have plans that are truly beneficial.

  • Michael Steele just accused Obama of deception. There goes Michael Steele's career. Maybe Steele'll regain respect by bashing Palin, Rush and Jindal again.

  • Why are there So Many TROLLS on a RNC site?

    Kinda makes you wonder.

It's not Enough they Pollute the Well via the MSM.

No; they must challenge, antagonize and misconstrue ANYTHING they can, to keep their opponents on Defense; making it easier to spread their Propaganda.

At 1:30-1:40, Mr. Steele explains that our system, while "the Best" (unarguably in terms of Drs., training, tech., etc.), needs Improvement (costs..); yet the LIBS want to Take Issue with Nonsense.

    What ELSE do they have?

  • There are currently about 150 views on this video...

You may want to rethink your strategies, Mr. Steele; while Youtube recieves massive amounts of visitors daily, almost none of them go to videos no one really wants to watch.

  • Forest. Trees.

The constant WHINE from the Carville/Begala mantra of the "shrinking GOP" is a TOOL that's CLEARLY working on You.

Lenin said it best: "A Lie Told Often Enough Becomes The Truth".

Then there's Hitler: "By means of shrewd lies, unremittingly repeated, it is possible to make people believe that heaven is hell -- and hell heaven. The greater the lie, the more readily it will be believed." (Mein Kampf)

The Dems are doing a Swell Enough job running Themselves out of office.

  • Well then lets run ourselves out of office but at least we do not agree to failed conservative plans multiple times.

  • Obama inherited the worst recession since...no not the Great Depression...the Carter ression. Why do Liberals ignore this?

Because Regan's tax cuts and incentives to businesses got us out of the Carter recession.

Obama's becoming the Jimmy Carter of our generation.

On a positive note, we needed a Jimmy Carter to get a Ronald Regan.

  • Keep in mind that George W. Bush was a republican. You can pretend all you want that Barack Obama is destroying the country, but you can't just shirk the fact that Bush was doing it a hell of a lot faster.

I also see no relevance in anything you just wrote to my comment. I simply stated that Youtube wasn't the best way for the RNC to go.

... Also, you just fucking quoted Adolf Hitler! This tells me that you think Hitler's ideas are better than Obama's.

I bet FOX News makes sense to you. >_>

  • If I register as a Democrat... does that make me a Democrat?

THINK about that one. Take your time.

    Bush wasn't a Conservative.

    I don't call myself a "Republican".

Take Sanford, roasted for his affair (rightly so). Judge the MAN, not an entire group. What he DID was Abandon Conservative Principles, thus no longer BEING Conservative.

Yes, Obama IS spending the Country into debt. Are you blind?

Hitler's QUOTE was an example that people like YOU don't educate Yourself, but let the MEDIA do it.

  • True. However, my comment was on the laughable amount of views this video has. I could have been giving advice, I could have been mocking the RNC. You could never draw from that whether or not I was Conservative, Liberal or even a resident of the USA. It just so happens that I'm Canadian. Your original comment was an unwarrented attack on someone who you thought was a Liberal simply for being Liberal.

Are you really in the place to say "Judge the man, not an entire group?"

  • On your link (name); Yes, it SAYS you're from Canada (and that you "like video games, are a clean-cut..."

I'll stop there. You're right: your comment WAS harmless enough, and I DID take it out of context because of all the other "hostility" (and hyperpartisan B.S.) being spewed by people that Obviously disagree with Mr. Steele, but just want to bash him.

I don't KNOW your political views. I'm a Conservative, NOT a Repub; there IS a difference.

My apologies, and good point. Answer: No; my bad.

  • These liberals still think that Bush is the President. Hey idiots, this is Obama's disastrous economy.

  • If someone just comes and hands you a turd, is it your fault?

When Bush left, America was a turd. You just have someone new to blame, injust as it may be. I doubt I can change your mind, though.

  • Obama disastrous economy..what was your thought of a good president truthforamerica? Yeah..just bash a president that is not affiliated with your political party for helping to improve this country. There is no way on earth any good president would be able to recover what Bush did in his last disastrous 8 years. Even if Obama brings us one million out of debt..he will be a hero. Psh..if you think he needs to prove anything..you are wrong because thats all he promised.

  • Wow, you show how ignorant you are. You seem to forget the economic growth that we had in 7 of those 8 years. Granted, Bush did set in motion bailouts that Obama has put on steroids. Talk about debt? Obama has implemented more borrowing in the first 6 months of this year than this country has done in the previous 30 YEARS! This economically illiterate president thinks that we can spend out way out of debt. China is backing off of buying our debt. Any guesses why? Inflation someday....

  • I am going to make this short and sweet and I really do not care if II sound ignorant. 8 years of bush = spending on wars and running after 1 guy who easily outsmarted our whole country. Also, gas prices went up for god knows why..probably his administration making more money off us. We had a surplus when CLINTON left office. Sure we were not taxed like we are now but there needs to be some way to get out of this debt which Bush put us in. Better to spread the debt over many people with taxes.

  • He has huge ears!

  • a true libertarian would support small government and more freedom.

  • I do. Did I ever say I wanted a government run plan? No way! I jut don't like conservatives any more then democrats.

  • This is so untrue. The private sector wont be able to compete? What happened to the creative drive of capitalism republicans go on and on about? Obama wants a single public option not some all encompassing monopoly. Sounds like insurance lobbyists have their hooks deep into the rnc.

  • My Goodness, you're Bass-Ackwards!

When the GOVERNMENT steps into Private Business and FIRES the CEO of a Publicly-Traded Company, what makes you think they won't KILL their Competition?

    Revising Chrysler's Advertising Budget?!

FORCING companies to make cars consumers Don't WANT?!

The only thing this "sounds like" is YOU sleeping through Government and History Class.

    The "Public Option" MEANS "Government-Run"...

but don't let pesky little FACTS get in the way of your brainwashed propaganda.

  • At a time like this..we do not need competition. TO strive as a nation, we need to all work together. Working independently and assuming we make our own money won't do shit. Half the conservative red states I have been to are fucking shit poor.

  • CA, MA, NY...Yeap, these are Blue States that are known to be Liberal, are barely hanging on because of their entitlement programs (which government health care is).

Why is the Democrates plan always to screw the tax payers? I don't make alot of money and don't know how I'll afford the the Cap and Trade tax that will effect my family if it's passed. My State (PA) Income tax is going to go up because of a Democratic Governor, If I have less money in my pocket, how is that a good thing?

  • I think you have it backwards my man. Chrysler was bleeding red. It was finished. Obviously it was already making cars people didn't want because NO ONE BOUGHT THEM!

The post office is government run but private companies like Fed ex and UPS are taking it to the cleaners. Government run doesn't equal monopoly.

86.7 million people were uninsured over the last two years according to CNN. But don't let FACTS get in the way of propaganda :)

  • Chysler was bleeding red because....wait for it...Unions.

Who are in bed with unions....Democrates. Why did the Obama Administration Give Unions more of the piece of the pie than the Secured Bond holders? Payoff for their political support.

We need reform for our current healthcare system, NOT a government run one.

  • Hmm Unions... organizations formed to protect workers rights and make sure executives don't out source jobs in the name of profits. Yeah it must be their fault. It had nothing to do with mismanagement and poor product choices. That's why every unionized company is bankrupt... Oh wait they arnt!

  • I didn't say every union was bad. In fact some unions are great, so making assumptions is never a good thing.

In the case of the car industry, the unions make the company less competitive than a foreign car company.

Also, being from Pittsburgh, which use to be the steel capitol of the world, companies went to foreign countries because the unions made it to expensive to keep the steel industry here.

Workers rights/Company profitability...if one side gets to greedy, it fails.

  • The post office is the perfect example of why we shouldn't let the government take over. Think about how efficient UPS and Fex Ex are compared to the US Post Office. Is that the kind of health care system you want?

  • I have some experience in this matter. All of them are fuckups. But I know first hand that the post office does a pretty damn good job keeping the mail moving. How would you feel if in order to send any piece of mail you had to pay around 10 dollars or more? Thanks to the USPS we only pay bout half a dollar.

  • dcwheaton..people will exaggerate they will have less money under a government even when compared to a country where businesses run everything..everyone hates a ruler that is true. But what the government will offer will only be about 1% increase for every individual to have cheaper services instead of you spending $1000 of dollars on your own. Its a money saver. Cheaper services means more time to flourish in other areas where money is not a problem. Hate it..go back to your private med.

  • arviagent12...How are you getting it's only a 1% increase. The detail on how much it will cost hasn't even come out yet. The CBO estimate is over 3 Trillion for only 40 million without coverage. Plus, if I want to stay with my current medical insurance, I'll still have to pay taxes for the government one. So, I'll be double charged.

Also, this isn't the only tax increase. If Cap and Trade passes the Senate expect to pay $1000+ more per year on home energy, and expect $5+ a gallon gas price.

  • Well its all true what you are saying but look at it this way. Its either one individual paying for everything off what he makes for a job vs. what the government will pay for spread across many individuals in the country. Even if it is 3 trillion dollars +...each person pays about $10 to the government..we're out of debt and onto something new.

  • It will never be $10 a person, AND we'll never be out of debt with government spending at the levels they are at.

Bush spent to much in 8 years, Obama has spent more in 6 months than all the presidents in the last 30 years. And that's BEFORE "Health Care" and "Cap and Trade".

PLEASE point me to the source where you are getting this $10 business.

  • I hope that the spending of 6 months from what he has been doing does not include the deficit we all ready have inherited from Bush. If it is, then really he has only put us in 1/3 of that. Still its only 6 months..what makes you think he will not be able to remove the debt? 8 years people from both sides had to wait and see and it just got worse. If Obama has to be rejected for what he has done..give him the same amount of time as our last president and let us see.

  • Steele said he knows we have the best health insurance in the world

how is the most expensive care while being, according the the world health organization, 37th in quality, behind Morocco and Costa Rica, "The best?"

  • He said we have the best "health care", not "health insurance". He is correct. The top 5 hospitals in the world are in the US, according to Webometrics. The top 10 are all here, too. In fact, out of the top 25 hospitals in the world, only one is located outside the US, and it is in Taiwan.

  • LOL. This guy is a joke. Just like the Republican party. Republicans had no problems cramming conservative policies down our throats for the past 8 yrs and now they wanna complain about Obama? Atleast the democrats (unfortunately) are tryin to be bipartisan. These Republican bitches only think about themselves. The entire party is in the pockets of the insurance agencies!

  • Bipartisan? That's a joke. They've never been MORE partisan. Their idea of "bipatisanship" is "Get in line or get out of the way." That's not bipartisanship.

  • "Bi-Partisanship" to Democrats:

Getting enough GOP support to make the Voters think the Sh!t Sandwich you "pass" isn't SOLELY your doing.

Now that "Smalley" Franken's won the Minnesota Senate seat, the "Official" Democrat SUPERMAJORITY is in Full-Swing... lol

No more Blaming Bush; Obama Now OWNS the Economic Problem.

As the (Radical Leftist) KOS founder says, "No More Excuses, Mr. Reid."

Let's see how brave they are ramming the Bills thru now that they don't need a Single Republican...

  • No...I still blame the idiot bush. Well at least the other 57 million voters that totally stole the election from Mccain will. 55 mill of you idiots can do whatever you want because it will never do well until you give in. Thanks and have a nice day.

  • No one who is sane should give in to government controlled anything.

If you opposed Bush (War on Terror, Big Spending), how in your right mind could you support Obama who is doing the same thing?

  • Of Course you still blame Bush... you Always WILL.

You're a SHEEP that lives off handouts and entitlements and wants to crush individual Incentive and Innovation.

Tell me; WHAT has the Gov't ever "Produced" effectively?

ALL ideas are BORN from the Private Sector, the Gov't merely steps in to Regulate and Tax them in order to survive and run people's lives.

Enjoy your pipe-dream (and mandated life).

At least not ALL "57 States" went for President Teleprompter.

    And Bush was "stupid"? ROFLMAO

  • String two words together..even Bush could not do that without stuttering and turning them into nonsense jokes...what a clown. Private sectors? They just look for bailouts from the government and prove to be of no use to the people since the owners pocket 99% of it. Of course..but they are owners right? The people who work under them do the work rather than just be the ones that have "founded" the business. President Teleprompter..I doubt it..his improvisation as a speaker shows he is educated.

  • Wow. I simply can't debate you... the ignorance. much. too. strong.

You are, by FAR, the absolute STUPIDEST and most CLUELESS Liberal I've EVER run into.

    Really. Kudos.

Your ad hominem attacks and straw man arguments are All red-herrings. (Look it up, sunshine)

"I doubt it"? Well, I KNOW it.

Try reading and/or watching something OTHER than the "Obama-News Channel" for a change, and you (MIGHT) learn something... but I wouldn't hold my breath.

    Friggin' Communists.

  • HAhaha..I won. jk. But really dude..I think you need to actually figure out what the liberals are trying to say instead of looking at Obama from the first 6 months vs. a president for the last 8 years. You can bash me and say I am stupid..you know what..haha..not going to change a thing and I am not even the slightest phased because I know for a fact that I am in the right direction. And I know you are trying your best to sound civilized and smart with your lingo. So yeah..don't debate me..haha

  • I KNEW it.

You ARE in grade school! (Right?)

"I won"? "We won"? lol... WHAT did you "win"?

You (and your ilk) continue whining that you "inherited" (All) problems. Seems you can't make up your mind if you "want control" or just to "blame" non-Socialists.

The "Right" Direction as a Democrat? Now THERE'S an OxyMoron.

(And for the record... I don't have to "sound smart or civilized" with you... you do a Pretty Darn good job of playing the Fool all by yourself.)

    But, "I ain't phazed. I won." lol

  • Inherited problems? Dude..we did inherit problems from the last 8 years..if you cannot see that..then you must either be A.) so conservative that any other view that you just cannot agree or B.) Just trying to have a debate and make things up. Grade school..so what if I was? I seem to make more sense than what you say because from your view you can easily oppose each of my views. You are right too..you don't have to sound smart..but the way you write with putting down peoples' points, you do it.

  • Another person who actually believes that that last 8 years was Republican controlled; You also believe that Republicans and Conservatives are one in the same.

I bet you believe that the US government is a democracy.

  • Well in your comment..whatever you consider them as..they still did the damage and now we all have to pay for it.

  • Lets see the republican plan...let me think...is it..........TAX CUTS?
