  • What size are these balls?

  • @VashtaiKahn

    45 mm (aprox. 1,77 inches)

  • Hello. I would like to know where you purchased your Baoding Balls from.

  • I just got a pair of them, they are very old from the ones I have and they are cool too.

  • hey, try getting bigger balls, lol. your not working out your bottom palm, the balls should be a quarter size of your hand. nice vid bytheway .

  • are the hollow ones good for your forearms aswell? Or just the solid ones?

  • @TooBloodyEasy

Both are excellent for your forearms. With solid ones you will have more weight in your hands so it may take less time to increase the strength of your forearms compared to a hollow one with the same diameter.

  • Thanks for posting. Well made video with a nice little background on them. About to check & see if you for around to making that egg video;) cheers!

  • Uhm i think u do it wrong?

I guess the balls should not touch each other when u roll it ?!

  • I quit smoking thanks to these things!

  • very good u didnt even use ur thumb

  • for beginners you should slow it down a lot

  • As Duke Nukem once said, "BALLS OF STEEL!"

  • I'll bet you could rip on the guitar

  • This is cool, you are pretty experienced with them. Have you tried to use eggs? I bet that would be a challenge to contact-juggle the eggs without breaking them. Post a video if you decide to try it. good luck!

  • @Trioptic3D

Thank you for your reply and idea. I have not tried that yet but I will be sure to do so and post a video eventually.

  • lol the video ends with a perfect "ding" from the balls.. great video, im starting to use these because im studying kung fu and tai chi. i heard they can help :]

  • really enjoyed the video, most informative, thanks for posting.

  • i love these i also love how u say "how toplay with your balls in a fashionable mannor" you know your a guy form they 21st centruy when u giggle at that

  • how do you get so smooth ?

  • @bluesstoner420

Very simple... lots of practice ;-)

  • @bluesstoner420 by shaving

  • It's pissing me off how I can't get it right!!

  • @thuyudor, but you are doing it right!

Whichever way you roll them is the right way. In my movies I show a couple of ways to roll the balls. There is no right way to do it because there is no wrong way to do this. I am always learning new ways.

The only principle that really counts is that it should be a relaxing activity. If any thing you do (or think) causes discomfort it defeats the whole idea of these Chinese Stress Balls. If you want, make a movie of what you do I'd be happy to give tips.

  • hey,im a guitar player, and i like to take good care of my hands and wrists, will these help?

  • @Untouchable787

i bought these years ago because i played guitar and they were for guitarists they even included extra exercies , they were ordered from a company in guitar world magazine, so yes they will help, or you can get finger weights they will help you speed up your guitar skills too,

  • Finally bought some of these chrome-with-inner-chime balls tonight, plus had fun with some singing bowls.

Just checking out videos, thanks for your video. I like your demo of the 3 plus one on top, very cool looking!

  • Haha, I can only roll one way ! I love rolling those things aorund. Thansk for putting the vid on !

  • I've had the same steel health balls for years and never really learnt good techniques - only knew how to roll using my thumb. Great video - solid instruction. You have pretty amazing dexterity.

  • Thank you for kind words!

I hope you will enjoy some of my other movies as well and there will be more posted in the future.

  • Wow, and I thought I was good, well done.

  • What size would you recommend for a beginner?

And what size are the chrome and jade ones you've got?

  • It would depend on your hand size. As a rough guideline I would say half the width of your hands for the ball diameter.

My hands have a width of approx. 95 mm. And the balls I use here have a diameter of 45 mm (and a weight of 150 gr). These are the first balls I ever used and I have practiced with these a lot.

The jade ones have a diameter of 40 mm and weigh about 110 gr.

I would recommend chrome balls for a beginner because jade tends to get a rough surface when rubbed against each other.

  • Okay, thanks for the info ^^ I think I'm going to order a pair of 40mm chrome ones. I got a pair already but they are way to big for my hands and I can hardly spin them around.

  • i just picked up a novelty pair, but i feel myself relaxing every time i use them.... i always enjoyed oriental therapy techniques.

  • Nice video..thanks for the great explanation! :) Today is my 1st day and I can already tell this is going to help in a lot of ways! Thanks again for sharing! :D

  • You're welcome! I hope they inspire you to use the balls for many years to come ;-)

  • would this help my finger flexibility for playing guitar?

  • Absolutelly!

It also works the other way around. If you already play guitar you will start off with an advantage. I noticed that people who play guitar or piano pick up rolling baoding balls faster then an average person would.

  • yeah I already play guitar, I'm good enough to play "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica but probably not perfect at it. what do you mean it also works the other way around? o.o should I snag a few?

  • Thats exactly what I mean ;-)

I think you will pick it up quickly and it will help to increase finger flexibility.

  • Using your fret hand to roll the balls will help you develop finger dexterity for consecutive note passages. You won't notice a difference if all you play are power chords, but by all means, give it a go if you have the chance.

  • I think so. I got a tendinitis in my wrists, and I read somewhere that these balls can help to become healthy again. if I knew that before I would have bought these balls earlier!

  • Awesome Video!

  • Just found mine. I had 2pair. A solid iron set and (the pair I found) the chimes. T, thanks for posting this vid, dude.

  • You're welcome! A Solid iron set even... you don't see those much, thats nice.

  • i got a pair of them at an arcade, i got them just to mess with my sister, but omg, im not regreting it. these are awesome, and ive noticed after i finish with them, my hands are faster typing, and im feeling relaxed. which is a good thing. :) i would recommend, anybody who has alot of stress, should def use these,

  • these balls i receommend for any guitar or pianist trying to stretch fingers and pick up speed it helped me

  • if only I had balls like that.. When I get kicked i wouldnt even feel a single thing..

  • smaller balls are more difficult to play

  • hey, The Baoding Ball made from a city called Baoding in China, it is my hometown, if anyone wanna to buy them can contact me, it is really very health!

  • thats a nice pair of balls you got there

  • Sounds Rong

  • Whoa. I can't roll them without touching each other or upside down... i guess i should get smaller ones. You seem to have big hands.

  • Ah yes, that is very true. I use 50 mm ones mostly but smaller ones are much more practical for some practices like rolling them upside down.

  • Wow that's impressive. After training yourself to use the Baoding did you find a significant increase in dexterity in your fingers? Have you tried twirling pens or batons or playing guitar or piano and found those tasks noticeably easier?

  • To be honest... I can't say that I have. I have used them for 5 years now and I never measured it in any way.

And for as far as I know my fingers were already very dexterous before I started using Baoding balls. So it is hard to say for sure if they have much effect in that.

Twirling pens is smoother nowadays but I would say that is due to the fact I have had more practice in that as well.

I don't play the guitar but I have noticed people who do have a shorter learning curve rolling the balls.

  • And adding to that I would say the same could be true the other way around. If you practice with the balls you could develop guitar playing skills with more ease.

One thing that I have noticed. After pressing up 10 times on the tips of my fingers the time to recover (that is to say... for the unpleasant feeling to go away) has decreased. Which is a sign of them being in good(/better) shape.

  • I've been using these balls for 10 years now and have played guitar for 13. they have definitely helped my dexterity, flexibility, and stretch.

  • Baoding balls are good for health and exercising the hand/fingers. They can also be used as martial arts training; improving the dexterity/strength of the hand/fingers. This dexterity/strength training can be applied to chin na(joint locks/ grappling) and sword practice(gripping the sword properly).

  • cooool, i started practicing chinese balls too although usually they fall on the floor cos i`m pretty much a newbie xD

  • yea! CHINESE BALLS!

  • Thanks for the demo! Man you really like balls! lol

  • You're welcome, and yes I do... but not just any balls ;-)
