After half a day of going back and forth between AT&T and BlackBerry, I finally gave in and bought the unlock code. It was in my email in under half an hour, and the instructions in the video worked for me exactly; except that my AT&T phone only offers 10 attempts. Still, it worked first time, and after I yelled at AT&T long enough they credited my account enough to cover the cost of the code ;o)

Just did it literally like minutes ago. Takes about 10-15 minutes to get the unlock code through email (maybe longer?). But it was fairly simple. Went from ATT to T-mobile for BB 9000. Software OS 5 you have to hold down Aa and type MEPD to get the status of your network. And the simpler way of getting your IMEI type *#06# and it will pop up. Good luck!
