England and Great Britain aren't the same thing. England = just England, one of - and the largest - constituent country of the United Kingdom. Great Britain = England, Wales (where I'm from) and Scotland together on one island! And Great Britain and Northern Ireland = the United Kingdom. As Sophiespace said, Great Britain is England and the "surrounding areas" - aka Wales and Scotland!

Anyone who gets angry about the whole British thing is obviously narrow minded and with too little to think about- I'm from England an personally do not find your British labelling of the accent in any way offensive- besides, we often label your accent as American even though we recognise that there are many dialects within your country!!!
Maybe it's because their are 3 Countries in Britain and 4 in the U.K not as some like to think that Scots, Irish and Welsh represent one regional accent each of Greater England, sorry Britain.
