How come you didnt just put the bottles in the fridge to stop the yeast? Beer is beer man! All though if it did taste awful then I understand. I've had one batch that had a bottle blow up, i just put them in my kegerator fridge and bam no more bottle bombs
@JasonJToews That would have been a good idea but like you said it didn't taste great. It wasn't awful by any means, but it was very good either. I just figured I'd let it go.
Shoulda worn lotion and a mask. rofl. Awww, buddy that's a terrible thing to watch. Felt bad for ya. 6 weeks in the primary is askin for trouble. =P Is it a sealed-style primary or no? You have my sympathies. =,(
Are you a newbie brewer? RULE #1 in brewing SANITIZE!! EVERYTHING needs to be santitized! That includes your stubby fingers. WASH EM! There are no shortcuts in cleaning your equipment.
Wow were those beer every gushing!!!! I think your right looks like it might of been an infection. Love the music you selected to go along with the gushers - matches perfectly lol
ouch, that was painful to watch! how much priming sugar did you use? as a rule of thumb i let my batches ferment for a full two weeks and i use 1 ounce of priming sugar per gallon of brew. works for me every time!!!
I had this with some home brew cider I made a while back. I bottled them in plastic containers (thank god, had they been glass my brew cupboard would have been destroyed!) Took me half an hour to open each one slowly enough so that I didn't lose any booze! First time I opened one I lost 75% of the bottle to gush!
not nice..... do you use your hydrometer to check fg ? allot of ppl don't and just go by the airlock not bubbling... big mistake, check to see where your at before bottling, i always keep a few packs of Nottingham dry yeast in my fridge just
in case i get a stuck ferment, i rehydrate yeast in 1 cup of water 75f-80f. no higher then 85f. for 20min.... also try using a priming sugar calculator when bottling.

@ZaBuDaB Well I did check my final gravity. I had this in primary for around 6 - 7 weeks. I've just been way to busy to bottle lately. Can't wait for vacation.

@woodsie33 I know. I have kegs. Just unplugged the keggerator for the winter.

I guess with glass you have to be cautious. If they were plastic, I would just chill the bottles and drink em.
