Not a fan.. commented on a previous cover of the same song and what looks do be the same girl. I decided to give this one a chance because the last time she was singing with a guy who could not really keep up in vocals. I'll give you that this is much better and more of a cover but i think the octave switching from the girl playing the part of Billy was a little off putting. Try doing it l with someone who can sing a the notes without jumping from really high to really low, nothing in between.

Only thing I could suggest would be to play around with keys. One of the things I've learned is to make a song fit to your range instead of taking something down an octave. The purpose of the high bits in the movie was to accent his voice. Take advantage of the same trick and make your audience squirm with pleasure as they hear you hit your (relative) high note. :)

Yeah, it was a range issue. My friend who sang for Dr. Horrible could hit the notes in their respective octaves because she has a bigger range than I do. There's no way I would have sounded better singing that part (believe me, I tried and we switched), so I sang for Penny.

Fantastic job. "Dr. Horrible" has a very strong voice and good range. She sounded particularly good when she went down an octave. It actually helps the mood of the song and the transition to Penny really has to go up, not down.

The most impressive thing to me was Penny was able to keep the harmony so well while playing the guitar.

It wasn't an issue of maintaining consistency. It was an issue of that being a male voice part and her having a female voice. When you can't sing a part in the octave it's in, you up (or down) the octave. If she had tried to do the entire thing up the octave, it would have been a) extremely high and difficult to sing and b) not nice to listen to for normal people who don't enjoy opera.
