Does anyone have the 1975 version of the intro, with the original Elmer Bernstein music? 1975 was when the series first went to PBS (NatGeo programs on TV first aired on CBS, from 1964-73, and on ABC from 1973-75).

why can't kids these days be as interested in this as we used to be. I used to know SO many random facts about animals learned from this. Now (in my opinion from experience) the majority of children don't even know how to use their imagination

These were wonderful programs. And not just mindless rubbish that was every where else on TV but rather something to captivate thought, learning, and imagination. When I heard this music on the TV it was time to watch something special. :)

wow i remember this intro from when i was a little kid watching national geographic!!! i used to watch all of the natural disaster videos and loved them! this intro brings back so many memories. I got chills when i heard this because i used to love these shows and the intro!!
