In the past I had just only listened this concert from the record, and had only seen the picture black and white in this album. I try to imagined the sense of this concert like a blind man had heard only a sound. But now my dream come true. I can listen and see this real concert. I'm very surprised. It's a first begining of Ian Gillan that bring them to be a classic rock band. 'Child in Time' is a great song that they've got the inspiration from this concert. It's a really purple sound. GREAT!!!
ATTN: This is one of Ritchie Blackmore's GREATEST guitar solos, ever!! And it was with a symphonic orchestra!! Deep Purple Ruled!! HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!
A fantastic upload, thank you! And thanks for the putting the links to the rest of it in the description. This is so great...what an accomplishment for Jon Lord. I bet more young people would go to the symphony if there was more of this today. \o/
@earthless1990 it's not crap it's one of Jon Lord's masterpiece it's his composition it's not from some old classical song or something...he is our time Beethoven, and lord give him strength to fight his cancer
@earthless1990 do you understand how hard is understand an orchestral sheet part? did you know classical is the rock's father? what do you know about harmony or contrapunctum? don't speak shit, shut up and show more respect to the father of your favorite music
@MikeRockanroll haha stupid kid! rock was born when musicians started incorporated noise in their music - when such legends as Bo Diddley(father of distorted guitar), The Sonics, MC5 began experimentating with feedback. dirty, dissonant, lo-fi rock'n'roll that's the root of hard rock, punk and metal. listen to most rocking Deep Purple song Speed King after all. what you hear first 30 seconds? right, guitar NOISE! same with jamming that can't go with classical at all!
@earthless1990 i called classical because that's the popular name for this kind of music, the right term is academic music and the noise you called "father of rock" is a ramification of academic music called "electroacustic music", yes, borned with classical musicians and all the theory of the rock composition is just a little part of all the knowledge about the music theory, and one more point, before the electric guitar it was the classical guitar the father of the elec. guitars
Very cool, but at one point, the bassline gets just a bit repetitive. And the bassline is so great in Woman From Tokyo, would be cool to hear a bit of variation. But it's quite cool. Some of the orchestra players were grooving to the jam, you could tell.
Not something we can expect from Lady Gaga or other such modern "artistes" (using the term very very very loosely there) Where is the talent these days?

No, I think it's Roger Glover, although he's hard to recognize without beard. Glover joined together with Gillan.

it's, ummmm....different. One of the oddest chapters in the annals of both Rock and Classical music, that's for sure.
