  • This is how a rustlers supposed to be driven!

  • Thank god for mute

  • Holy damn I've never seen so many fuckin cartwheeles

  • Check out my rustler vxl double backflip vid!!!!!!!!

  • If you run the Velineon motor on a Three cell Lipo for to long or at to high of Throttle it WILL burn out VERY fast, ESC is Great but the Motors burn easy, replace with 5400kv Mamba Max, Bullet-proof Motors, you can find them on ebay for like $75 way better motor.!

  • I have a few Traxxas VXL cars (2 Stampedes, Rustler, Bandit, Summit (not brushless)

and while the Rustler is great fun to drive it is probably the least durable of the bunch. The Stampede 2WD VXL being the most durable. Actually the Stampede is the most durable RC car i own. The Rustler with a simple high speed cart wheel will break. I always seem to break the same peace and stock up on them. Its the rear bearing hubs which always break on my Rustler from normal bashing. Other than that, good.

  • @chonyc77 I did some jumps and broke my rear shock tower. It only got a foot of air xD after i upgrade to rpm so far it been good. Hit a wall xD. Broke a camber link. Upgrade to alum. Took it on better jumps and so far it doing great. Also got lipo and it still holding up. The front shock tower so far is holding up to. Rustler a great truck

  • np

  • awsome

  • @MrSmartieRox Glad you like it!

  • hej adda mig på msn tänkte köpa en TRAXXAS RUSTLER VXL skulle har fråger om den

  • wait wait ur telling me that the brushless moter doesnt last!?!??!?! cuz i have the rustler vxl too O_0

  • @johng321ify No, no probs with motor what so ever. Crasches will kill your car before that even becomes a factor :)

  • @nzdot so basicly what ur saying is if i dont crash my car my moater will last?

  • @johng321ify No, I'm saying you'll go through so many other spares that you won't even notice a new engine in the budget. Unless you drive carefully, but then the motor won't overheat and not wear.

  • @minititan100 They are good but require a lot of spare parts once you get the "right" batteries (i.e. 3cell LiPos with high c capability). But this was 2 years ago so I guess there are new stuff on the market. Do some research.

  • @nzdot should i get the stampede vxl or rustler vxl

  • @robbyadkins Speed=Rustler, Offroad=Stampede, get the one you like most?

  • @nzdot Wrong. Robbyadkins = rah-tard

  • This car break easy i broke mine just a little grauge accident lol nice video u have there and love the spike tire where u get it?

  • @dukeofanderson13 Spike tires are home made, duct tape and screws. But you need to put them through a washer or similar or the centrfugal force will make them pretty lethal. (No kidding!)

  • This car break easy i broke mine just a little grauge accident lol nice video u have there

  • ok thanks. i wanna buy this car but i want to put the velineon set in my sparrowhawk xxt. it's 4wd. I will drive the rustler with my carson Dragster 8T Set that's pretty enough for a 2wd. I use 2s Lipo but later i will get a Turnigy 3s.

  • 3s lipo ??

  • @monsterGAUZ Yes, 3s lipo, without it you won't wreck the car so fast.

  • does your rustler vxl sputter when the bettery is in during the middle while its stopping and starting? or do you know what that would be from

  • does your ruslter vxl have problems starting in like the middle of a charge? Mine like sputters and i have to lift it up can get it going when its not on the ground, just wondering if that happens to yours or if u know whats would be wrong with it, thanks. o and your videos great

  • @snowboard704 Sometimes problem with cold, full batt, but never in middle. Might be drop in V:s on the batt for some reason.

  • @nzdot If you are using a non LiPo battery u have to make sure your light on your ESC is red, if it is green it is set up for LiPo, and will act funky. to change it i think u hold the button down for 10 secs. i may be wrong i forget

  • @snowboard704 your motor might be cogging i took mine to my local hobby shop and they got a new motor for free so no charge to me :)

  • @snowboard704 lvc is probably kicking in do you use a lipo if not then take off the lvc. (lvc means low voltage cutoff for protecting lipos)

  • hey can you send me a link to where i can get a good fast lipo

  • @bullsjewells24 maxamps, but get warranty

  • Was that stock parts or RPM?

  • @RCkiNg3872 All started as stock. Now back frame in alu and better rear wheel carriers.

  • najs att videon e svensk tillverkad :D haha

  • this is cool but i know right away that the motor is going to be ruined

  • Yeah that was fun and i have a rustler vxl and it run fast on soccer field like 40 mph but that was street tire and i need to buy an off road tire.

  • where can I buy a lipo battery?

  • at the hobby store DUH

  • @Gnapp7 you LHS or online

  • cant wait to jump mine tomorrow i got it today used it for like 2 minuts but tomorrow im gonna go bashing i might make a vid

  • there built for this stuff stupid

  • i got mine for $70 :P

  • @30GB

lucky bastard lol, how did you find one for $70

  • wanted ad? ROFL

  • that thing is clean too! that was a good find.

  • whats the Warranty void here?

  • if you are going to run lipo in a vxl, you have two change the gearing, other wize the motor will burn up, quite quick.

  • I love those rear tires dude.! fabricated or bought?!? I need a little more traction for my stampede and my sand paws are good for... well.. the sand.

  • actually 200 ^_^

  • WHAT ARE THOSE TIRES!

  • now that is bashing

  • is the regualar rustler and the VXL the same except the motor?

  • yea and metal turnbuckes but them r really cheep

  • @jessiejames2012 oh thanks man!

  • the brushless one has a steel transmission while the regular one is plastic

  • nah the older rustlers got plastic, the newer ones like the vxl and xl5 got metal, my xl5 box says steel gears

  • just the top gear on the xl 5 is steel

  • @pieman12345678987654 nah man,all of em lol

  • very nice clip !!!!!!

  • i have that car its so cool

  • i suggest you get a car called the Evader ext to practice with cause you suck at driving

  • its a rusty. its meant to bash

  • driving good dont mean babien the car pussy

  • okay bitch you dont know shit

  • i dont know shit thats why i do crazier shit with my brushless rustler then ud ever do with ur walmart grade rc

  • yup so your saying the slash 4x4 vxl, stamppede vxl, and the losi highroller with a velineon motor are wallmart grade rc's you fuckin' tard?

  • nice vid!!

  • HOW MUCH DID YOU PAY FOR YOUR CAR ???

  • My wife bought it for me for christmas :)

  • what battery r u gonna run??

  • i was willing topay 316 at local hobby store should i buy it on ebay then???

  • Yes, never pay $316 for a Rustler VXL. You can get one for $280 from numerous places.

  • i payed 325

  • Why

  • är xl-5 vatten tät?

  • hey do u strip spur gears a lot with the lipo in it running offroad? since ive got my lipo i've stripped like 7 annoying and 3 bucks a piece I think a rpm gear cover will help from getting stuff in the gear unless its thew power thats stripping them.

  • I have an RPM gear cover and it keeps stuff IN. I'm thinking about 32P gears in it from Jato (spur) and Emaxx (pinion).

I have read these will hold.

  • alright thanks i bought a rpm gear cover shortly after i posted that and i haven't stripped another spur yet.

  • Ok, that's cool. I have just ordered a 56T spur and 13T pinion 32P and a lock diff. I have a slash and only drive it on loose sand (beach of a small lake)

I hope this will solve my problem. Maybe I didn't do the maintenance too well, I didn't open the gear cover until a couple of days driving. There was only dust in the cover (ground sand :))

  • dang gearing it low enough? even with a 3s lipo it'd only go like 40mph, i gear my rustler with big masher 2k's on 18/86 and sometimes 23/90, i want 20/86 cause the stupid rpm gear cover cant fit but a 87 tooth. With the 18/86 gearing my rustler on 3s lipo goes like maybe 45 in grass.

  • I hope I'm not over gearing it. I have a stock motor and the gearing should be the same as 20/86 (23/86 is over geared, I read some guys smoked the motor with that) With 6 cell NiMh stock with 18/86 is too slow outside a track, I hope it will go a bit faster. I have recently bought 3 new NiMh batteries but when they are worn I will buy a couple off 7 cell NiMh. I don't want a brushless, too expensive and on a track it's overpowered with that. But perfect if you wanna go fast.

  • what exactly are you doing to viod the warenty??

  • If you guys like wheelies and jumps so much you should have gotten the Stampede instead, they are made for that stuff, nice bashing vid check out my vids i have tons of cool rc vids

  • grym video!!!

  • can some1 tell me what is lipo battery difference?

  • Oh, I'd say about 100% up...

Except for price, becuse that's another story...

  • ok but a 5000 lipo how much it cost i buy a 500 no- lipo for 55 box

  • @nzdot LiPo are cheaper ... and way powerful

  • *buy new ones*

  • if you don't wanna take it easy on the throttle, gear down. these brushless motors achieve ridiculous RPM's.

Gotta love the LiPo too, I know I'll never go back. I just run em into the ground and but new ones. totally worth it!

  • dude have u heard of 'throttle control' ?

  • ya a very tru statement, but its funny to watch

  • Is it just my driving habit or does it seem like after every few drives you end up braking somthing???

  • i know i feel the same way, especialy with lipo, just adding lipo broke my driveshafts, then with lipo, of course im gonna try and jump onto my house, oops, kinda broke my front end, that was fun to get fixed, and now i need an aluminum bellcrank

  • Why, just adjust your slipper clutch. Aluminium will bend and is more expensive and heavier than plastic. There are plastic bellcranks with bearings that will steer much more direct than the stock ones.

  • Just found out the bellcranks are stock with the bushing replaced with bearings. Don't know the size yet.

  • Maybe you should go tell Traxxas and HPI to stop putting lipos in their off-road cars then........

  • Comment removed

  • By the look of you video i can understand why.....

At my local RC Club we have about 6 guys who run lipos on their off-roads. None have had their engines broken down from overheating.

And i´m talking about driving 2 hours straight 3 days a week on a weekly basis. My rustler is geared at 31/76 at the moment and i´m running 11.1 5000Mah lipo. Had it for about 6 months now without a problem. Then again, i´m not driving in wet conditions or tall grass at full speed like you are.

  • What? Why not?

I have done that with my Traxxas Rustler from day one.

    Peter

  • since when? where in the hell are you getting this from

  • Where did you get those spiked tires cause' there awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

  • DIYS ;)

First comment ever on this vid got it right!

  • Awesome video and awesome music. And it looks like you had a ton of fun. Very nice carnage too.

  • looks like you need a slash modded to vxl

  • Your Smart Driving a Russler VXL a $300 car with a LiPO $200 battery, going and driving in snow, rain, ramps, puddles, rocks; thats like driving a hummer in a 40ft. Lake

  • LoL. If I could afford to drive a Hummer into a 40 ft lake - I would :) (After jumping a ramp with it of course!)

But the car's still running though. The only thing is that the Lexan body is mostly torn to shreds and I had to replace/fix some stuff (plastic shock towers...come on...Al is the way to go!)

  • did u get hit by the 1 with spiked tires cos if u did ur lucky 2 be alive lol

  • those nail spiked tires looks like it hooks up to grass, but i dont think it will last...great idea

  • its ok if you have fun.

  • TRAXXAS4LIFE!!

  • nice! where did u get one? how much?

  • im so fucking pissed i took my battery out of the charger and the cord broke off! fuck! >:(

  • solder it back on

  • retards theyre not waterproof!!!

  • hpi suck

  • NIIIIIIIIIICE!!!!

  • traxxas all the way!!!

  • okay nice :). but what batteries are you running at?

  • okay nice :). but what batteries are you running at?

  • traxxas is the world leader in r/c

  • Yeah, for little kids...

  • There's a little kid in all of us.. don't deny it

  • Traxxas sucks. HPI and Losi FTW.

  • stop spammin ya moron

  • Verry impresive!

    5/5

    ~mike

  • What are you running for batterys?

  • the vxl is awsome and fathead i havent had any problems with mine. best rc car i have ever had!

  • you had any probs with the rustler vxl? mite get one with a 7 cell

  • what gearing do you run with that in the grass

  • I have run the highest recommened gearing when on a well mowed soccer field w/o problems. My friend rides on talon tires that give a natural high gearing rate on the higher gearing that comes in the box. We run and accelerate about equally fast. You DO need the ESC cooling fan in summertime though...

  • okay nice but all the car there is in the film do they being smashed? (be cool with my english i'm denish)

  • Nothing that can't be fixed with the excellent moldable plastic provided by Claes Ohlson's!!! (Or spare parts...)

  • fan va najs me lite svenska vxl videos! bra jobbat BTW

  • Those trucks are insanely fast! i cant believe it. Electrics have seriously evolved into something else.

  • what is the song? i like it

  • "Double nature" by Mustasch. Highly recommended so buy album ("Latest version of the truth")!

  • i have a venom 3s 5400mah lipo and masher 2000tires for my rusty vxl. i go through a spur gear every 3-4 battery packs. thats about 2hours of use before they strip. other than that, the truck holds up to serious abuse.

  • if you loosen up the slipper clutch just a little bit, you won't ruin them as fast. "that's if you are breaking teeth"

if you are just stripping, tighten the gear mesh.

  • man a nice video! but are a rustler vxl waterproof?

  • u punnish those trucks. i have one. their great fun!

  • is it water proof

  • Well, we have all waterproofed the receiver, which is sensitive. Forward servo and ESC are ok with water. The engine just steams it off ;)

If the receiver stops working because of water, open it and gently apply a hairdryer (not hotter than you can touch) for a while. Worked for me when mine died.

  • I love my VXL!! It really amazes me sometimes just how hard you can beat this thing and it just keeps going... of course things to break, more aluminum less breakage!

  • on the other hand, more aluminum = more bendage. more rpm parts = more logic defying sturdiness from plastic!

  • I'm only going aluminum on the following parts: Carriers, steering blocks, caster blocks, bulkhead, tranny box & arm mounts. I also cut out my chassis for more flex. I want the arms to be my breakables so I've isolated the plastic in the arms and chassis... arms are easy and cheap to replace.

  • oh man! forgive me for questioning your plan then! that's the way to do it!

  • I totally disagree...I was very disappointed when my whole front-end was TORN apart.

Now I put in $300 and got ALL aluminum FLM (Fast Lane Machine) parts.

  • badass vid!*****

  • Man! if you're not careful, that thing's gonna void the warranty on your ankles!

  • Yeah, that kind of hurt, but I got hit even harder this week. This I didn't get on film since the guy hit me from behind. I heard that he'd lost control of the truck somewhere behind me and prayed that I wouldn't get hit...but alas. Busted a castor block and an axle ;) Ankle survived...again.

  • Good action and some big air at the end!

    Mustasch rocks too. :)

  • was that duct tape with roofing nails ?? at 1:36 lol

  • -Yes, and traction was great. So great that we broke a stub axis carrier almost immediately...

  • if you want front and rear bearing/stub axle carriers, i have gone through 9 rears and 4fronts so i got rpm carriers. they haven't broken to this day. "i really put my car through hell lol"

  • RPM? We've run with Aluminum ones, but that just makes something else break.

  • yea, rpm is still plastic "kind of" it's bullet proof nylon that has the weak points thicker than stock and they flex. i crashed mine and the wheel bent 90 degrees to the right and immediently bent back. i was like "holy ****"
