Estupenda! Voz muy limpia, clara, abarca todo el registro sin forzar (siendo soprano). Magnífica proyección. Buena coloratura, pero le falta pasión. Para mi gusto es una estupenda interpretación de Agitata (Ya sabemos todos que CECILIA BARTOLI es inigualable).

This is an aria usually sung by mezzos or sopranos with in a different sub-fach. This lady is a light leggiero coloratura, and her higher, sweeter voice is not used to its best here. She avoids the low notes whenever she can and stays in an upper register more often than not so the aria sounds bland to me. Also, what's with the B section missing altogether?

The thing that's interesting to me is that there aren't a whole lot of people out there singing this other than Bartoli. Though everyone has their favorite for Habanera or Un bel di, nobody says they "belong" to someone. I'm just glad someone else with great artistry has attempted this piece besides Bartoli. Sumi Jo is amazing, really. But this is not her aria. Sumi Jo needs something sweeter, nothing powerfull. This is a rushed interpretation. I'm sorry, but this aria is a Bartoli's one.

Sumi jo sings every phrase with full dramatic affliction throughout the whole piece, even the runs! Sure its not in the style and this video proves that its much more difficult to sing such an aria the way she does. Im sure if Bartoli attempted to sing it in this manner, she would struggle immensely.

I have the music for this right in front of me right now... and she doesn't do some of the lower passages, she puts them up an octave. Which is by no means shameful... just something I noticed. I like how she puts a bit of 'Sumi' into this song XD
I think both Sumi Jo and Cecilia Bartoli are very good at singing these songs. Like many said, this is a difficult song to sing, so you should be amazed by both talents. Both hold something very unique in their version of the song.

Lots of kinda negative comments on here about Miss Sumi Jo, but...Bartoli notwithstanding, Sumi Jo is pretty amazing. It's easy to sit on the Youtube sidelines and criticize, but this is an incredibly difficult piece, done by Sumi Jo in a virtuosic manner. And in taking a slightly slower tempo, it makes her breath support in the long phrases all that much more impressive. And the tone quality is superb, especially the high notes.
Holy Molly She's really UGLY and slow, nothing even close to the great Cecilia Bartoli. She can not even pronounce correctly the Italian words. Looks likes she's doing a HUGE effort to sing this aria. Nop She Sucks big time. LOL she slur her words, Hahahaha.

wow.... you know it is kinda rude to type "Bartoli" like hundred times here on this another amazing musicians clip lol seriously. i didn't know the score and i searched Bartoli and got the idea. Ok, i got the point. in my very uneducated opera ears, too, it sounds better in lower ranged singer, at least it is not for the light coloratura.

@manganay sorry Bartoli makes it sound like mouth gargle. yeah she's fast and accurate but so are machines. This is music written for humans. Jo is more musical, so is Caballé. Cecilia's a cartoon character.

I could say Bartoli is a passable singer, looks like a ox, has all the stage presence of a lamp post and her expressions are revolting!
She is not the complete package needed in today’s mutli media world, whereas Sumi Jo is. She sings without flaw, keeps fit and she has continually polished her stage performance.
I liked both when thay started out 20+ years ago, Bartoli has let herself go!

As I said before if you don’t enjoy a performer, watch one you like and leave them praise for producing something you like.
The people we are discussing are all world-class performers and warrant recognition of their great skills.
I don’t watch Bartoli, she leaves me totally cold but I never leave insults about her videos which upset her loyal fans.
Spare time is scarce for me, never enough hours to enjoy Sumi Jo.
Let us all treat music as it is intended, to bring pleasure.

Sumi Jo is amazing, really. But this is not her aria. Sumi Jo needs something sweeter, nothing powerfull. This is a rushed interpretation. I'm sorry, but this aria is a Bartoli's one.

oh wow...well it was definitely a decent try but a song like this of course is gonna get compared to the ones that do it MUCH better. aka Bartoli. but hey if i was in her shoes, i would have at least gave it a shot too. because with her status she can! and thats what being a star is all about. Just putting your best foot forward and giving it all you got! ..but for sumi on this one im gonna say lets try to stay in our fauh...that what we have it for

I enjoyed this even though it is a bit beyond her. I don't usually like to compare singers here, but Bartoli's performance of this is just amazing. I still love Sumi too.

Sumi Jo possède une voix qui malheureusement manque un peu d'amplitude et de profondeur, ce qui lui donne une certaine sécheresse, surtout dans le chant baroque. Cela dit, c'est une artiste qui mérite toute notre attention.

ok ok ok ! People you do realise that Sumi jo is a soprano who was trained to sing bel canto where as bartoli specialized in baroque! They dont sing it in the same manner at all you cant compare. Sumi jo sings every phrase with full dramatic affliction throughout the whole piece, even the runs! Sure its not in the style and this video proves that its much more difficult to sing such an aria the way she does. Im sure if Bartoli attempted to sing it in this manner, she would struggle immensely.

Mezzo-soprano and soprano are different .... but Sumi-Jo was lacking in manipulating her voice .... but being a to sing this well wasn't really easy though .... I too respect her ....

She's trying but that's it and the most hilarious part of it is the pianist. Perhaps it's me but as I recall the piece wasn't written for piano... a shame, a rape of Vivaldi's work.

I like Sumi Jo very much but I have to say that unfotunately this song is absolutely not made for her! Her voice is not powerful enough in the bass (low notes)! But anyway, I respect her work bacause its hard for somebody who's an other culture than the european one to copy exactly our style! Congratulations

This song is not for Sumi Jo at all ... the low notes are barely audible ... better sung by a mezzo like Cecilia who has a powerful lower register ... not to say Jo is bad but the Fach is wrong here

I have the music for this right in front of me right now... and she doesn't do some of the lower passages, she puts them up an octave. Which is by no means shameful... just something I noticed. I like how she puts a bit of 'Sumi' into this song XD

I think both Sumi Jo and Cecilia Bartoli are very good at singing these songs. Like many said, this is a difficult song to sing, so you should be amazed by both talents. Both hold something very unique in their version of the song.

Lots of kinda negative comments on here about Miss Sumi Jo, but...Bartoli notwithstanding, Sumi Jo is pretty amazing. It's easy to sit on the Youtube sidelines and criticize, but this is an incredibly difficult piece, done by Sumi Jo in a virtuosic manner. And in taking a slightly slower tempo, it makes her breath support in the long phrases all that much more impressive. And the tone quality is superb, especially the high notes.
