I am going to even subscribe to your video's if you don't mind. I see you have made a lot of video's. Maybe I can learn something from a long time plumber. I have worked in the main line sewers for over 30 years also. Pipeline tv operator and anything associated with the sewers. I also enjoy doing plumbing and home inspections. Thanks AL !
You have no idea where this pipe was at I can guarentee you that Mr. Handyman.No doubt you have installed hundreds as you say,but positive tips would be more propriate and more constructive to help everyone.This was up in a floor joist where I could barely get to and was able to make the repair.I placed the camera there and had no idea if it was covering the entire area.I will take the editing comment under consideration.
You are correct there for sure. The cost of a sharkbite is quite a bit higher then a 1/2" coupling, but the installation is a lot easier. They are becoming very popular and seem to be working very well!
@TheDophler Hey there: They said they wanted them done in the next few months and that was back in April;so I hope to hear from them any day. If not I will drop them a line and see where it is stands.Like I say in the video they are great for a quick fix,but I am not a fan of leaving them in for any great length of time.I talked to a wholesaler the other day and he said that his neighbor did his entire house over with them.Time will tell I guess.Thanks for your comment and have a great day! Al
i would have used 2 slip couplings,cut damaged bit of pipe out slip 2 coupling on and a piece of copper, wud rather solder in tight spaces rather than use pushfit fittings!
@TheDophler hello there; I am changing the waterlines in the next month at that house and I would have done the same if i knew that they were not going to be done. Thanks for commenting and have a great day! Al
To many times i've been in a crawler with tight spots and less work space then ever! LOL Man its a different world when putting pipes together in small cramped places but ppl never know how important it is for guys like us to get a perfect job done! On the other hand looking at the soldiering on the copper tells me your still going to busy on that house! Props to you sir...keep them pipes flowing! lol
@chaotic719playa Thanks for your kind words and I know I will be back to that place soon as they want all their domestic waterlines changed over to pex.I am going with Viega now.Rehau is still high on my list,but viega is pretty impressive to work with and very fast to work with.Have a great evening......Al
Your sink drain has a trap under it .I am taking this is a 2 compartment sink.If so;what has happened is sludge or foreign matter has filled the p-trap under your sink.What you have to do is plug one side of the sink with the strainer and plunge the other side with a plunger;preferably a sink plunger.Should have no trouble for a while after that.Good luck with the job and a have a great day.
Perfect shot of your job. Your hands are not in the way at all. Great of you to show this for us all to learn. Many thanks ! Can you tell me why when I drain the water out of my kitchen sink - it back fills into the second smaller side of the sink ? Is it just a clog of some kind that is making it back up?
Glad I could help. As you can see in the video; if it is a tight place to work in and your leak is close to a fitting becareful not to push your fitting on to far.You want to have enough space to get your plastic clip on the pipe. Then push the plastic back into the fitting to release the teeth and slide it back over the other section of pipe. These long couplings are ideal for doing pinhole repairs. Thanks for commenting. Good luck with your project and have a great day.
If you have a leak at a tee, you will have to get access back to all three directions of the tee;unless it is plastic pipe.Tee,s are a pain because of the branch.Sorry for your trouble and good luck with your repair.

jeeeeeeez do some editing when you cutting the pipe lol

You should always deburred the pipe when using SharkBite fittings. So you don't damage the o'ring.

@diamondbus426 Hello there;
If you can debur it; it could help, but I haven't had any issues yet on the installs.
Thanks for commenting and enjoy 2012!! Al

You should always clean the ends of both pipes not to destroy the sharkbite fittings.
