i used to have 14 birds cuz my 2 birds had babies. <3 Its so funny my female bird, Cutie, made a long strip of paper and puts it in her feathers and brings it to the birdhouse and the male, Spikey, isnt very good at making paper nest strips XD

Mine does that too but he (no doubt he is a male!) is much more organised and makes really long pieces. Then it always fall xD he is found of paper, he cannot live without it!

Paper is not good for a nest with babies, a vet told me. And not only female cut paper, lovebirds work together to rize babies.

they put the paper between there feathers to build a nest, only female love birds do that.. so when your bird does that. you can be pretty much sure you have a female.

actually, your lovebird is a girl. only females shred the paper and tuck it into their feathers, they use it to make nests. males don't do that.

i have two love birds who were hand raised. they have their own cage and their own room. they are played with everyday from 5 to 7 hours. they make bigger pieces of paper and put it in their feathers. they are not happy when you remove it later so they don't eat it..this is so funny...my guys do the same thing...

we have a wonderful breeder here in alabama. people come from every where to get her hand raised birds. she breeds all kinds of birds..she hand raises everyone. i know a lot of people who have her birds 5 years old to 5 month old. everyone is very happy..i paid $35.00 for one of mine and $69.00 for the other one.(different types of love birds) american...we love you andria

I remember getting a higher grade for an essay for originality because the complete thing was chewed on on all sides, my first lovebird had an open cage because it was so tame and it would never just fly off at night, the only downside was that the bird would chew on any paper it saw, forgot about that when I went sleeping the night before I had to turn in the essay.

No. Males shred also. The bright yellow ones (creaminos) are females here: Angel and Sierra. Dewey, the DB pied is the yellow, green, and blue one you see with Sierra. Dewey is a male. Evee, the green birdie on the floor is a boy also.
