lol i'm guessing it's just a bird thing then because every bid i've ever had does the same smh so many books ruined, so many codes never to be read again. ugh!! but you gotta love em
i used to have 14 birds cuz my 2 birds had babies. <3 Its so funny my female bird, Cutie, made a long strip of paper and puts it in her feathers and brings it to the birdhouse and the male, Spikey, isnt very good at making paper nest strips XD
My bird loves to play with paper, but it always looks like he is trying to eat it, is that dangerous or are they just 'feeling' the texture and everything? I am scared that it is dangerous for him.
Mine does that too but he (no doubt he is a male!) is much more organised and makes really long pieces. Then it always fall xD he is found of paper, he cannot live without it!
Paper is not good for a nest with babies, a vet told me. And not only female cut paper, lovebirds work together to rize babies.
lol, my parrotlet's definitely a male even if he didn't stuff papers in his feathers, but he still shreds paper all over the place, especially my notes when I'm not looking
I love your lovebirds they are soo beautiful and in perfet feather. My lovebirds plucked pout their feathers to put in their nest. Oh adn I have a Question. Where did you get your parakeet nesting box?
I love your lovebirds they are soo beautiful and in perfet feather. My lovebirds plucked pout their feathers to put in their nest. Oh adn I have a Question. Where did you get your parakeet nesting box?
they put the paper between there feathers to build a nest, only female love birds do that.. so when your bird does that. you can be pretty much sure you have a female.
@mrmartial I had a male and he always shredded long pieces of paper. I got him from a friend and breeder of birds. I know for a fact it was a male. He was so sweet. He made long strips.
I have two of them. Seeing videos or pictures always makes me want to go downstairs and cuddle it. I'm afraid they won't like it if I were to wake them up though.
Love this vid, they're so cute! I've had my lovebird for a couple weeks now and I love him! Whenever he sees paper, he HAS to have it and tear it up lol. But is this always safe for them? Do they ever purposely or accidentally swallow a piece? And what would happen if they did? Thank you!
i have two love birds who were hand raised. they have their own cage and their own room. they are played with everyday from 5 to 7 hours. they make bigger pieces of paper and put it in their feathers. they are not happy when you remove it later so they don't eat it..this is so funny...my guys do the same thing...
my daughter has a love bird 1 year old. i fell in love with her i went to the breeder who hands raises them and got me one..we love them so much. they are smarter than any animal i ahve ever had..they shred paper and use it as decorations too..

My friend takes heres away from the mother at 10 days to hand feed. I have got my first pair that had 6 eggs but only 2 hatched. I was wondering if Idecided to hand feed them how to do it.
No. Males shred also. The bright yellow ones (creaminos) are females here: Angel and Sierra. Dewey, the DB pied is the yellow, green, and blue one you see with Sierra. Dewey is a male. Evee, the green birdie on the floor is a boy also.
But I thought its only the females that tuck the nesting material into their tail feathers? I don't know much about lovebirds at the moment, but im researching because I am planning to get a pair in June.
