  • @shempone I have read a lot obout it and watched a lot about to and it totally is breaking new ground.

  • @treatsfortheeyes

breaks new ground... but not ground breaking. iPad was ground breaking, it made a whole new market that was dormant before it.

This just add's to those features.

  • damn you're annoying :| I'm sorry but I just couldn't listen to what you were saying.

  • everything will be under 1 OS.

android will eventually under chrome OS(chromebook, chromebox); mac & iOS will be eventually be combined(launchpad).

  • Thank God we'll finally have a real tablet! ipad? nope. it's just an oversized itouch!

  • you basically get a tablet and a laptop in one. it doesn't fully replace the uses a laptop has, but i think it's very convenient

  • Nobody wants to pay more for a tablet, but some of us who are better off might be willing to pay more for a tablet with better quality hardware and software.

  • if you open your mind, it all works out fine. ultimately i have been using the dev preview for months now on a dell duo and i have to say almost every single criticism is unfounded for what i have experienced. when your using touch you have no need to go to the desktop, certainly this will be the case in the final os. whilst the aero styled desktop will start to look more like metro to make the experience less daunting. people are likely to trust windows over android

  • Windows is trying to transition to an app interface so that piracy, modding, and license cracking become harder to practice. Don't fall for this bull shit, an stay away from cloud computing.

Chris Pirillo is a corporate whore. People do not like Windows 8 because of the combined interface. They do not like it because torrenting music and videos is harder to do. Windows is only giving both interfaces to reduce shock from loss of file access. Windows 9 will probably be just another iPad.

  • Windows is just following apples lead.... They really are not breaking ground here or doing anything that is new. It's not going to be great as they think it is

  • @shempone

I can photoshop, code, compile, run, any program in any language while being a tablet.

How is that not breaking ground?

  • @mshartz5

Those might be great things to do but as a whole, this is not ground breaking.

Its just piggy backing whats already out there and playing catch up

  • @shempone

Well it is to me. Based on your definition of groundbreaking the iPad doesn't fit since it was released as simply a large iPhone without the ability to make calls and lack of app support. I would know since I owned the original.

It has developed more into a groundbreaking thing over time, which is what the Windows tab will be doing as well.

In the end, I don't see the tablet as a magnificent working tool, but a pretty awesome toy. Windows is trying to break that.

  • Its not 2 operating systems, its two diffrent launchers or home screens

  • Windows 8 is too little too late. Google Android 4 is going ring in the new generation of tablet computers. I get my OS update to ICS for the Transformer Prime in 5 days XD .

  • Also, you forget the tens of millions xbox users already familiar with the interface, and the growing popularity of WP7 (though I'm still not a fan of the latter). I think the hidden genius behind this move is that the pc might actually become easier to use for those people that traditionally struggled with it; while still offering enough depth for the rest of us, whether at home or on the go.

I won't upgrade Win 7 on my gaming pc until the initial driver chaos is sorted out though!

  • @PuppyProwd

the new XBL UI suck. I saw nothing wrong with the previous UI for MS to make the change. Now I'm wishing more than ever that they just bring back the original Blade interface.

  • Too late for what? Lol. There's nothing else on the market as competent in the tablet form factor. I love both my iPad and Galaxy Tab... but we all wish that we had more laptop-type functionality on our tablets some times. And I have absolutely no problem with both modes being available, the reason I'm really excited for Win 8 tablets in the 1st place is for the chance to truly have all of my systems sharing the same ecosystem. I think it will catch on easier than you think ;-)

  • I agree with this guy 100%

  • I want Windows 8 on an eee pad transformer prime, do some real office work with real applications.

  • 24 people were MS employees.

  • Art and note taking. Ipad does not do.

  • People do actually use the command prompt in Windows 7 because it allows them to do things they wouldn't otherwise be able to do. Similarly the old Windows experience is necessary for programs like Excel, etc.

  • windows will sell like crazy as long as the price is right

  • Windows 8:

    ARM processors= Cheep Tablet/More battery

    Intel/AMD processors=Powerful PC tablet/Less battery

Desktop/Laptop=Disable Metro UI(one OS but you can disable it, who said you can't....no microsoft didn't in fact they did point that out)

He keeps comparing ARMs OSs with Desktop processors OSs. Windows 8 is designed to run on both of them. Why don't you compare iOS with ubuntu or OSX. Of course if you use Atom processor with 1 or less GB of ram it will be slow, not like Samsung/ASUS slate.

  • The great thing is, it gives you a choice. Dont want to use metro? Use windows UI. Dont want windows UI? Use metro. You can use metro with a touch screen, and plug in a mouse and go straight to windows. Versatility is nothing to be ashamed of.

  • Actual windows on a tablet... Yeah I'm pretty sure they arent gonna have an issue getting those sold. Especially with AMDs APUs

  • no becuase i want one lol... but yeah i get that feeling like wtf they come out with it now? duno what its guna be like but i hope its the os like the one they are showing... winblows 8 ...can hardly wait, yay.

  • Enjoyed the video and, as a gamer, I wholeheartedly agree with you. I have an android phone right now, and I really want a tablet, but I can't justify buying one, when my phone does the same thing (nothing justifies the bigger screen for what I do). I'd buy an iPad.... wait, no I wouldn't, so needless to say, having that full-fledged operating system behind the mobile operating system, I'm pumped to say the least.

  • I've used the developer preview of windows 8 and its horrible to use on a normal computer. I can see it being enjoyable on a tablet or touchscreen pc but its like they forgot about all the people out there with the regular mouse and keyboard. It's usable obviously but I get what he means about switching between the two UIs.

  • Metro will be awesome for a tablet and other stuff with touchscreens. But on a desktop, I'd rather choose win7 aero. Metro offers little to a desktop environment. In the developer preview that I tried while back, the constant popping between aero and metro was annoying as hell.

  • To be honest, I think I'd rather go with a standard win desktop (like Win7) than an eye-candy UI. I may change my opinion when I get the chance to actually use it, but there are only so few environments per device I care to expose myself to. I like the Win7 desktop experience (as well as XP and even NT and 9x platforms if the 9x wasn't so buggy back then). Call me a 'geezer geek' because that's what I am, dag-nab-it.. lol

  • What is wrong with showing both UI? You will definatly need the old one for some of the programs that haven't been updated to function within the new Metro UI. So to do certain things in this transitional period you will need to old UI. I would rather have the option to run these through the old UI then not having these Programs at all

The way I see it, the old UI is there to do things the new one cant (yet) Just like Windows XP still had a Command Promt.Dont open it if you dont want to use it

  • Hey baby, can I touch your devices?

  • enthusiast don't love AMD, hop on any forum and see.

    AMD failed the enthusiasts .

  • 4:11 :DDDDDD

  • Looks like andres iniesta

  • Windows 8 on a ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime. Wither it be a virtual machine or native. The best of both worlds. Tablet one minute and a laptop the next. I believe that Win 8 will not be the greatest desktop OS. But for tablets it will work fine and I would buy the aforementioned setup. LOLS

  • YES!!! I completely agree!

  • not at all... I expect all W8 tablets to be a significant upgrade from current PCs specs wise. I would never buy a device under quad core 2.6, or a low performing GPU. I expect the W8 tablets to run crysis 2 in full graphics, use photoshop, exe.

  • apple! :D

  • The doubt on Windows 8 will always be there but many questioned the iPad and look how fast that thing is being sold?

Afterall, there is still windows 9 if things go wrong with 8. I'm sure Microsoft would learn their lessons. It's not like they didn't with Windows Vista :)

  • I have install Windows 8 Dev Preview on my 6 year old laptop (actually, it's a netbook) and honestly, Metro UI is not bad. After a few minutes of fiddling, I manged to switch between desktop and Metro like I've been doing it for years.

The quirks are there but it is expected like how the apps won't work if your screen resolution is 1024x600 (netbook standard) and both closing apps and shutting down sucks but I think they'll sort it out in the beta version.

Did I mention Win8 is fast?

  • Win8 atart menu is difderent compare to 7 but remember win xp had different start menu compare to win 98, 2000, ME but stil you can swtich to classic start menu of 98. So i think users will have option of various kind to suit their need. Unlike Apple, sell an iphone, oh customer wil like that in bigger screen, same old stuff. Its like buying 6' subway meal & upgrading for a foot long & it still taste the same!!!

  • Is a Windows 8 Tablet Too Late? No.

  • no sir lockergnome. it's dev prev build. not even beta. about a year to go. a lot of polishing... ofcourse! i will buy a touchscreen when win8 comes out. i've been using a non touchscreen for about 20 years. time for a change, don't you think?

  • I really have to disagree. I have had a partition of Windows 8. I really like it together. Still, you are right. There should be the choice to turn off one or the other. There could be more people like me though that agree that we could have the choice of having both.

  • It's totally true, I did not update my windows 7 to 8 because I totally did not like that touch pad experiences in a laptop.

  • All new PCs will ship with W8. HP, Dell, Acer etc. will all build PCs and tabs, and if the tabs can run all Windows software and give that full operating experience (seriously lacking on current tabs) MS will succeed. I don't want my tab to be an 10" phn, I want it to be my PC on the go. I want complete Office functionality, USB connections, seamless if not identical integration with my PC. What I want is a Tab with a dock/keyboard that IS my PC. Forza or Halo on Tab? No, W8 is not too late.

  • I agree with Chris!!

  • CHRIS :What's your opinion on the new Youtube layout ?

  • @SayonaraProduction He thinks that GOOGLE has done a very very good job with their new Oogle UI.. lol Not looking at the fact that they are stealing the METRO UI.. lol

  • I like the idea of havin the option of the classic windows or metro on the same tab, n im an ipad guy too!

  • The metro UI is sooooooo "unwindows" like. I'm not upgrading to windows 8, sorry. I don't care about any classic option. Microsoft couldn't think up a better OS than Windows 7 so they had to change up the entire interface.

  • There's still a window of opportunity for Microsoft in the tablet market (drumroll)

  • i think you're jumping to too many conclusions from just an informal play with a beta Windows 8 on unoptimized hardware. it's not finished dude. microsoft do these sorts of things to get customer feedback. hey, remember that, when companies listened to consumers. you're too used to complete secrecy and then receiving a finished product.

  • I like Windows 8... BUT, I want my old start menu! I want the option from my Windows Start Button to either open my normal start menu and search my installed programs, documents, etc and I would like the option to go to the Metro Start Screen. It would be easier for me to drag and drop programs like Photoshop or Windows Media Player to my desktop...

  • Who would want to pay more? A Mac user, saying who would want to pay more???

    LOL, Really?

  • There's more than 1 computing experience! Surely you haven't thrown your Mac away, to use iOs have you?

Truth be told, the touch experience is NOT practical for many computer users.

  • I stopped using Windows 8 on my desktop 2 days after I downloaded it

  • @uDaeth Because it was developer preview; Not a final release.

  • Forbes says people prefer Windows over iOS so there. I guess thats the end all be all right? Don't get mad at me. Forbes did the survey. One minute this guy is in here talking about how they have hacked/modded setups then he tries to present a beta as the final product then does that Foxnews type backtracking to make it seem as if he didn't say or imply what he is saying. SMH @ this guy.

  • I hate what Microsoft is doing to Windows. I liked it when it worked best wqith Desktops/Laptops. Now it's going to be mainly for tablets.

It's all Tablet this and tablet that now. :(

I'm not a fan of tablets.....

Hopefully Apple doesn't do that with their Mac OSX. (Which I don't think they will since they have the iPad)

  • nerd spasm at 4:12 !

  • Ive got a touchscreen all in one pc, but to be honest I never really use the touch screen, Win 7's software just isnt designed for it. Hoping Win 8 will work well with the touchscreen.

  • I don't want Windows tablets: I'll just stick with Mac and iOS

  • what you described is exactly what I was afraid of when I first saw windows 8. I saw the new interface and was excited, saw them switch to the normal desktop mode and was sure it would be ruined.

  • Don't want to see the classic windows desktop? Only install/use metro apps and never click the desktop button. problem solved.

as far as the poll that people don't want a windows 8 tablet. I doubt most people even know windows 8 exists (average people who would buy a windows 8 tablet).

to answer the question they have not waited too long.

  • I pretty much agree with you. They should be two different operating systems.

  • FAR TO LATE LOL...

  • There's no ATI anymore... It's called AMD GPU.

  • i like metro, but on my desktop computer, i prefer the start button to open a menu just like always. i see the metro ui being useful on a tablet, but not on a desktop computer. with that said, if microsoft doesn't add new features for us, desktop users, i don't see myself upgrading...

  • I like Microsoft's approach to a tablet OS. But I wonder what the battery life will be like.

  • I hope they don't forget about us desktop PC users, in my opinion nothing can beat a fully fledged desktop experience.

  • Microsoft is always late to the party. Loser.

  • Couldn't agree more as a desktop non touch screen user I think Windows 8 should have the option to have either metro or normal windows, for people who don't want touchscreen what is the point. Maybe they should just sell normal Windows 8 without Metro for regular Windows users, hopefully a bit cheaper than having both.

  • I was annoyed when I saw "Tap to Start" on Windows 8. It made me think what has the world come to :<

  • W8 would work very well on those big touch screen desktop.

  • Tablets are designed for browsing the web, playing games, editing pictures, watching videos. So everything you can do on ios you can do in the metro ui (3rd party app will come aventualy for wp7/metro ui).now if you have something like ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime you could switch to the classic mode and use office, matlab, autocad and all the other apps that are too sofisticated to be optimased for touch. Metro ui has enough apps form wp7 that it wont switch to classic mode.

  • Looks like im waiting for windows 9 :(

  • Either way, I am upgrading.

    I'm stubborn.

  • Simple, don't use the classic UI

  • I just want the touchscreen and regular mouse/keyboard separated (like when you install, you choose).

  • Meh Microsoft is failing

  • Have been using windows 8 on a tablet (acer iconia w500) for about 2 months, everyday, works pretty well for me. Windows 7 is stupid on tablets!!

  • Microsoft increases the complexity instead of decreasing it

  • the mouse is far from dead

  • I have an AMD HD Radeon 6970 which is their next best graphics card! It's amazing!

  • The best tablet OS i have seen is the QNX based OS from Blackberry. it is by far the best tablet OS out there. but it is not getting the support from developers that it needs mainly because it only runs on the blackberry playbook. not enough market share for devs to care about. so sad. :-( its a great OS. better then android and ios in my opinion. Windows 8 has FAIL written all over it. sorry but it dose. Microsoft just doesn't have it anymore. Ballmer just doesn't get it. :-(

  • @MrGizmo757 webos is

  • Chris: A higher price for a Windows 8 tablet is justified because, unlike all other tablets, it'll be a PC replacement. You may be underestimating Windows 8's importance. Right now, on a tablet, you can't do something as simple as italicizing a word in an email. In Windows 8, you can run Office and any other software that runs on a PC. Also, if you do choose to get a PC anyway, it'll integrate more smoothly with your tablet if they run the same operating system.

  • I have nothing against Windows 8 as a tablet OS but I don't get why they are trying to merge their regular OS line.

I have no need for a touch screen based desktop PC or laptop... that's just not something I'm interesting in. The sad thing is that everything else they are adding in Windows 8 looks really good, except the Metro UI which just has no reason for being there imo.

  • I believe they're trying to target to massive markets. The business markets that will embrace the classic UI due to the use of office like applications. And the users that want a tablet. The funny thing is these to markets do blur, a lot of business users would like an iPad that they can do laptop like work on. It's a big market Microsoft is targeting and like as well they are trying to please their business customers.

  • I have played around with windows 8 a little bit. My main complaint was not being able to figure out with in a few seconds to do something as simple as shutting windows down. I think they have waited way to long to get into the tablet race. Just like the Zune, and windows phone 7. What I think they say when something good comes out "oh well that product isn't going to go any where" then later realize they are wrong, and try to reinnovate that idea, and its way to late.

  • yeah he is right, ive used tablet PC and it sucked, i wanted to use drawing apps in that pc and now i m doing same things on ipad - the experience is way, way better and i got everything i need or everything that there should be in a tablet with ipad, ipad is a true tablet computer

  • I LOVED it, actually. It was GREAT. I loved seeing both, and with a keyboard and mouse. I Treat Metro as a FS Keyboard/Mouse. I'm not frustrated and I don't have a touch screen *yet*

  • @Kerns0Phoegon

Treated Metro as FS[Full Screen] (start Menu) with my keyboard/mouse.* ... wow I missed lotta words.

  • I used Windows 8 on my desktop, and there is no way I'm upgrading my laptop, but I would gladly buy a tablet if it is at a reasonable price.

  • I had the windows 8 developers preview installed on my pc and I thought the UI works pretty well with mouse and keyboard

  • Windows 8 has been on piratebay for 9 months

  • It's hard to say. The Windows PC tablets were hard to use and slow, but you can't compare it to an iPad or Android tablet. Windows does everything Windows does, while the other two relatively don't do much at all.

It may be a bad experience, but hopefully MS can polish it up. I think software developers also need to create a touch version of their programs; like how websites have to have a mobile variation.

  • If you're using the metro UI you don't want to see the "classic" windows UI. . . Here's a thought. DON'T fucking click the button that switches the UI MODE.

Seriously? you're bitching about having more features?. . is this really how far your mac fanboism has gone?

I don't even like windows but I still see how full of shit that is.

  • @manhunt48 - Shows how much you know about Windows 8. In some cases, you can't STOP the switch from happening. Why do you think so many people are up in arms about it?

  • @lockergnome I think as long as Windows seperates the two, or simply lets the user choose which way they want to experience Windows 8. It will be fine And I look forward to it. Because computers still can do many things that smart phones and tablets can't do. And with Windows 8 it might open some possibilities for the tablets. But if you remember. Windows 7 had voice command which allowed users to control it with thier voice. And in Windows 8 I think it will add to the experience.

  • @lockergnome It is a DEVELOPER PREVIEW, NOT BETA. Microsoft just gave the public the option to download it to peek peoples interest before the BETA comes out. How can you be pissed off about something that isnt even half way finished or have even half of the features?? There will be tons of features and fixes in the BETA Release so stop BITCHING..

  • @manhunt48 Seriously go use windows 8 and you will understand. Seriously do people thinking using a Mac makes people stupid.

  • Sorry Chris but you are a mac user so your windows opininions are irelevant, to me at least.

I would prefer a windows tablet over iOS or Android.

  • The only reason I've been using the 8 DP is because of the speed, Yet am now back to 7: (As Chris said) Metro is impracticable without a touchscreen. I WILL get 8 when it launches, But only for speed, as I shall disable Metro.

  • Microsoft must release the Metro-UI variant of windows in other edition like , Windows 8 Tablet edition Ultimate?? well it will still confuse people... how about only 2 versions of windows ? one with locked metro-ui and one with locked "classic" mode?

  • Microsoft is partnered with so many companies it doesn't really seem to matter for them. For example if you are going to be buying a pre-built system from a store they will usually have the most up-to-date windows OS, therefore you are paying for it whether you like it or not.

  • I can see how the dual experience would work well, production mode, and consumption mode. Standard interface when I'm hooked up to my mouse and keyboard, touch when I'm using my apps on the go

  • apu heaven haah

  • 04:05 to 04:20 ROL!

  • I want a Windows 8 Tablet over an iPad. Why? Office!

  • @kyral210 personally am not a fanboy of any company as i use all of em

    but iPad now has office!

  • tablet pc hard fan as well

  • I would love windows to make it but I think were beginning to see the end of it.

  • Did you block me on Google+? I don't see any of your posts

  • Oops, I mean keep both OSes seperate like Apple has done with Mac OS X & iOS.

  • Thats why I mentioned in your "Year of the Tablet video" That they should keep both operating systems seperate. Trying to go from a touch screen OS to a Desktop OS is going to be quite clunky experience. Very much like Apple has done.

  • I think windows 8 should be ported on a transformer like device, so when you want the metro UI experience you can used the tablet alone, but if you want the traditional desktop, you can attach it to the dock with the touchpad helping you navigate.

  • you're a pro and you're just NOW trying the beta? I agee with what you're saying, I had the same experience....but this is old now

  • Im starting to agree that chris is a apple fan boy. He is so use to "the apple way" when it comes to form factors and ideology. That it is the only way people should use those types of form factors the whole iphone, ipad, macbook air, etc. The difference to me is a future windows tablet will do creation and consumption all in one device. And with them running the same cpu's as laptops and with a dock you could use it as a regular home pc. The major thing holding them back is battery life. IMHO

  • I've been saying this thing about windows 8 for tablets since I first saw this but did anyone listen to me NOO!!

  • Initially, I didn't really like these videos but now, lockergnome vids are some of my favorites. It's informative, sensible and usually unbiased :) And I definitely agree with ur opinion abt the Win 8 UI

  • Chris: I can think of one big reason why it'd be desirable to be able to switch to the Classic. Suppose you're using the touch version of Windows 8, and you want to run a program, say, Matlab, that has not been retooled by its creators for the touch experience. Well, then, you just switch to the classic and run the program. A Windows 8 tablet will appeal to those who want to be able to do everything they can do with their PCs without having to buy two devices, a tablet and a PC.

  • @tantzer Since the tablet will no doubt use a different architecture (ARM), is it likely that it will be able to run existing applications?

  • @tantzer Exactly! I am a studen; so why should I need to get two computers? Windows 8 will meet my basic needs through the touch experince, and, then, I can use a wireless keyboard and a mouse to work on Windows Programs like MATLAB and Visual Studio in the classic mode! I think Windows 8 tablet dissolves the distinction between a tablet and a PC.

  • Exactly just get a touch screen laptop and skip tablets

  • @tantzer That's my reason for getting one, however you are forgetting that average consumers are not that sophisticated. They would buy a tablet for simplicity, not for something complicated. At the end of the day the majority of consumers are casual consumers that pretty much use a web browser.

  • Chris get a samsung series 7 slate you might change ure mind.

  • I wish this video was 3D lol From 5:30 on

  • i guess no one does work on computers any more. right ?

  • Comment removed

  • I know so well you just hit the nail on the head with your statement !!!

Seem like Windows is shooting themselves in the knee !

  • As a gamer I don't care what operating system is on, as long as I can do all that I want with my hardware, like building my own computer and I am not boxed into using some stupid proprietary software. I actually go for the best device for the price, because I could give a dam what OS it runs. In fact I just replaced my Uni Macbook with a Asus Ux31, not because its a mac or pc, because its what I like most. But when then time comes to replace it, I might get a Mac or pc, which ever is best for me

  • and about touch screens for laptop and desktops, thats a no brainer to know thats not going to sell well at all simply because who the heck even sits close enough to a laptop or desktop screen to actually reach its touch screen

generally people sit a good three feet from the actual screen of their monitors, so no duh, touch screens won't work for just about everybody

  • really agree with chris

    windows 8 sucks for tablets

we've seen that the desktop mode isn't optimized for tablets or touch,

those of you who think it will be good, think again, how do you plan to do right click functions like dragging and dropping for file management , especially on a 7 to 10 inch touch screen with really small fonts and icons to try to touch

and its been confirmed that the metro ui won't support plug-ins so the metro ui will require a special youtube app just like iOS

  • This is only your opinion. Honestly, I installed windows 8 a while ago and I wasn't frustrated at all... I am using it on boot camp for crying out loud and it feels great. I sincerely don't mind at all having both experiences integrated with each other. Although, if they were separate, I wouldn't mind either.

  • So many people don't like Windows 8, I actually can't wait to get a Windows 8 tablet. I've played with the developer preview and I like it.

  • Windows 8 will be AMAZING for a tablet, but I will keep 7 for my computers.

  • I don't understand the unhappiness over the switch of UI in windows 8. If you don't want to see the Aero interface, don't click the desktop button! However, if you do need the functionality of the desktop UI, it is right there for you. Best of both worlds.

  • is like KDE /GNOME /UNITY UI, how they change your confidence into linux, i really prefer gnome . By the way Apple users would argue that with you.. I'm one of them :P

  • Windows 7 is the best Windows that will ever come out.

  • I agree with this video 100%. 'Nuff said.

  • @mynamesimple Same here

  • if windows 8 was on the market right now, i wouldve bought a tablet instead of a laptop, i like the tablet idea, i just dont like IOS and android as atablet os, too limited and controlled, i know its about experiance and they are easy to use for most people (like my parents) but if i could get an intel based tablet that could run any application a laptop could id get that instead especially if it had a dockable keyboard

  • @gmcnewlook Agreed

  • Yes they are a little late to the tablet game, but at the same time it;s kind of early for windows 8. I mean look at the gap between XP and Vista. The only reason 7 was rushed was to fix the problems with Vista. If they are going to do this, then they need to make the same OS, but with a different UI for touch devices, use the classic for computers, and the boxes for tablets and phones. and if you want the boxes on the computer, then you should just need to check the option that will do that.

  • Functional technology too late?

  • I have no idea what direction there heading they seem like there trying to please everyone but in reality they should focus on making one OS interface as best as possible

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • how the heck do i get a small hair out of my eye god dam help

  • I dont think its too late, I have used Windows 8 on a traditional desktop and a touchscreen pc, and I am so far liking the new features, and the responsiveness of the OS (as of the developer build). I myself don't mind switching back and forth between the Metro UI and traditional Windows, though I understand how it would stunt the growth of metro since most users would just use the traditional windows.

  • I just dont get why Microsoft decided to take Metro and take it to desktops....why not just give us the Normal Desktop UI on Desktops and Metro on Tablets and leave it at that, if Desktop users want Metro make it a optional download for those with Touch Screens for there PC

  • @NethTech I total agree with you. I like metro UI on the tablet and should be on all-in-touch screen computer.

  • Yes, Chris Pirillo gets it. The largest problem with Windows 8 is the fact that the touch UI is a SKIN on top of classic Windows. It's the same shit that OEMs like Dell and Samsung already doo, which is shoehorn a "touch interface" on top of Windows.

Windows needs separate those products. Windows 8 Desktop and Windows 8 Tablet (along with Windows 8 Phone). All these products should work in conjunction with each other and start building a strong product ecosystem.

  • No chris doesn't get it tablets will go away if windows gets this to work right

  • I am a windows user, and i am concerned about having to upgrade to win8 . Maybe its the perfect time to finally switch to mac...

  • I agree

  • thank you chris for acknowledging ATI still. I feel that dropping the name ATI was rather disgusting.
