  • This is not a very good survival knife. One of the most important functions of a survival knife is the ability to process wood for fire and shelter. That means that you will need to chop and baton with it. The knife needs a full tang - so it is strong enough - and it needs to be single edged - so you can strike it without damaging it.

This knife would likely break on your first attempt to baton. The handle contents, while useful, are better stored elsewhere.

  • You can use that empty cap where the compass goes as a whistle if you put your thumb knuckles over it in a V shape; and blow on your knuckles into the V shaped space to whistle... for signaling and such.

  • Where did u get the HB1-01 at I've look on E bay and Amazon and could not find one

  • Where can I get one?

  • the screw off thing you said about you could put water sterilizing tablets just a thought as they can come in handy

  • "so well just call it a pin xD"

    .

i wonder how comfortable (the texture looks weird) and durable it is? i'm guessing the whole handle is one metal piece with the blade.

    .

plenty od tools, fishing is especially important if you surviving for real.

    .

the looks and feel of the blade and tools is very sturdy/military.

  • great vid

  • Ya awls are used to pierce leather and wood depending on the exact type.

  • That needle is most likely for the thick leather sowing.

  • It's not HB-1-01 it's NV-1-01 man. Learn the alphabet. Awesome knife though.

  • No one is more qualified to use this knife than the Russian ninjas.

  • Does anyone know where that you could find one of these knives at?

  • Where could I get one of these?

  • @xIdrissax thanks

  • FYI, when a blade has a grind on just one side, it is called a "chisel grind." As an example, most serrations have a chisel grind (and most razor blades, as well). For a channel called "GearBuyersGuide" I guess I was expecting a knowledgeable and informed opinion. You don't have to be an expert, but at least learn the basics. Otherwise, you look rather foolish commenting about something like the gut-hook's grind. I had this knife, and the gut-hook had a chisel grind, and was fairly sharp.

  • Damn! This is a pretty awesome product. :D Love that sheath!

  • That needle attachment could probably be used for punching holes into thin metal surfaces.

  • damn, make sure you train to use all these features before heading out into the silderness, because you might die trying to figure out how everything works in the wild.

  • when you say that the gut hook has a grind on one side and needs one on the other... do you mean it has a chisel grind? every grind type has a different purpose; it might be useful to know about them, especially for gear review videos

  • its for a bow drill bearing block not a compass

  • It appears to be a useful "tool". I'd like to have one.

  • you could put char cloth in the compass hole...

  • barb wire can stop tanks, channel troops into machineguns, ect...

  • the whole time i was like watch there be a gun in the knife

  • keep seeds in the cap!!

  • Seriously ? 18 minutes on a sheth and it components ? No worth mention of the knife itself !

  • WOW, Im buying one of these that thing is like having 3 different knives and a kit in one!

  • or those tinder cup things

  • u can put tinder in the cap thing

  • Cool video man! Keep up the good work. I've been looking for a knife like this, just can't seem to know where to look. O yeah that little part where u got jip, I would put a line an a fishing hook in it. Or maybe 2 grams lol but anyways good video an a ton of info on the knife!

  • which button pops out the kitchen sink and the butler? just carry a good strong blade and more knowledge

  • Russians and ninjas... together at last.

  • Russians and ninjas can use it!

  • @PoXAzraelis or me, a russian ninja

  • the second knife is a caping knife to gut and skin game. ima fan

  • @PoXAzraelis or like me, a russian ninja

  • Great knife. That hook on the smaller blade is a bottle opener.

  • Very nice review!

  • what do russians and ninjas have in common? haha....sweet

  • hey man, any knife can be a survival knife. my m9 is my favorite. and i will keep it close when the zombie apocalypse pops off.

  • Man, that thing looks more blunt than a butter knife. It's neat and all but when it comes to survival knives the only real option is a fixed blade knife. For the price and for survival I'd rather get myself something made by Fallkniven or Rat Cutlery. But this is definitely an interesting and different piece. Like the sheath a lot.

  • I think that little thing is a scalpel... you know for digging bullets out of you and the needle and thread is to sew it up

  • an all is for puting holes in your belt

  • Whats the steel type and heat treat? It looks 'pretty' but the edge geometry looks horrible. I was attracted to it still until I saw it had a hollow handle. I would think your money would better be spent on some mora's than this thing. It looks cool, but it's junk IMO. Nice review though.

    -Cheers

  • Cotton ball is probably what it's for. Some sort of tinder is always good to have. So possibly, not a compass.

  • LOL GREESY RUSSIANS

  • 10 people got the bayonet by accident

  • "so thats telling me , not to eat that paper probably"

  • great Russian Survival Knife 5* :D ..i want 1 of this pls give me a link ?!

  • The sheath is more useful than the knife...

  • is it just me, or is the bayonet double- edged?

  • and i imagine russians and ninjas could use that for something...LOLOL

  • "and i imagine Russians and ninjas could use that for somethin" ahah

  • Where can I buy it?

  • @mattyuprinzay i saw it in ebay a hour ago go under survival knifes on page 5 its going for i think 169.00. i want it too its cool

  • Its a cool revue with a pretty good sense of humor.

Line: And you get a box and if you have a Doberman... you get a box that has been chewed on. Cool knife! I like the heavy survival knives that just never let you down in the bush. I use the M-9 Bayonet which is modeled after a Russian Bayonet type.
