Char, every time I see a girl with one of those pieces of shrapnel in their face, it reminds me of when my dad took me fishing from a local pier near Rockingham. Some man turned to cast, and accidentally caught his mate in the lip with the fish hook; dead in the middle of his lower lip.

Now, all of you facial-pierced girls remind me of that rather traumatic event back in my childhood.

In a few years there will be, no doubt, a big market for facial plastic surgery to fill in all of the holes.

You are quite right that they will close, in most cases, but the degree of scarring ranges from small divots to abscesses that lead to much larger necrosis of surrounding tissue.

When you elect to mutilate your skin, at least become educated regarding the risks.

Piercing is a fast fading practice, and so are tattoos. If you want to be trendy, use a clip type ornament, or a fake tattoo.

@ClaireseStarr sorry, i think it's funny how you know everything about piercings, I have had my labret pierced twice on both the right and the left, and i have no scarring at all. also, in regards to piercing being a trend, you do realize that people have been getting pierced for as long as we have had sharp object, I highly doubt it's going to fade away

@kieraanne88 I just want people to be aware of the risks. It is one thing to dye your hair purple, that will go away. However, mutilations of your skin DOES scar, ( varies with the type of skin and any infections that occur).

There are plenty of clip-on styles that can you can have fun with, but it is a fast fading practice, so that the only people doing it will be whores and porn stars.

Take a look at the "tramp stamp" that didn't last long, now middle aged women are get laser removal.
