Oxycontin itself does not cause deaths. It is only fatal when it's taken with other substances. With that being said, I am very sorry for your loss. I hope that you are doing well and I hope that you stay strong.

@ShroomSamich Well the weed isn't the cause of them moving on to harder stuff. I know plenty of people who smoke weed, may have tried hard drugs a couple times as alot of people do, don't bother doing hard drugs again but stick to smoking weed. The fact is even is you do get slightly addicted to pot, coming off it is really not a big deal if you had too, but why would you want to. It causes no real ill effects except a couple hours of mild pleasure, much less then 6 or 8 beer would do to you.

I used to snort cocaine and drink a lot when i was younger. But i knew enough then to avoid oxys... people would bust them out at a party and i would go home. I only binged on them once or twice and it felt so good i never touched them again. Sorry for your loss, some people just are not strong enough to use drugs.

i got alot out of this. it almost happened to me not long ago. it took all i had to get off and stay off. its crazy how easy it is to get and the change it causes in a person.
And yes over the past five years i have lost many friends along the way lost my cousin who was 44yrs old to methatdome and xanex to get off of oxy i was a paul bearer several more along the years from shooting up and just this year i lost jace who nodded out while driving ran off the road and into a lake you talk about a sad family his mother had been fighting breast cancer for years and now she lost her only son and he was almost to his house you can see wher he drown from ther kitchen window!!

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost a sister to drugs. So I cried when I saw that coffin. It was such a surprise that when my sister died we did not have money to bury my sis so we had to rely on donations to get her cremated. That really sucked. I still miss my sis and it's been over 5 yrs

Hey everyone, I'm prescribed 240 80mg Oxycontin's and 180 2mg Xanax bars a month for my cystic fibrosis and am willing to help anybody out who is in pain and needs some meds for cheap but can't afford a doctor/medicine for whatever reason. What the fuck are you talking about? Oxycodone is a lifesaver. It's the golden standard for break thru pain. Hell, they even gave me oxycodone for treatment resistant depression after years of taking dozens of meds that didnt work. This one did. It saved my life. I now have the will to live and help those around me again. You can overdose on it by taking way way too much, of course. But do you blame the kitchen knife when someone stabs themself to commit suicide?
@JochenHadley And at the same time the stuff is damaging and addictive, and one isolated case is not cause to call it a psychological miracle. Hallucinogens actually have a lot of evidence to back up their supposed psychological benefits, and both mushrooms and LSD are not addictive and are non-toxic.
@gangstersam2k12 reducing it by five mgs each dose you take at a time until you get back to five then come off. have a doctor help you cold turkey off a high dose can cause serious health problems so be carefull. the detox that way can be extreme. good luck and godbless.

I take 30 mg tablets as prescribed and I can't really see how that alone would kill you. Unless you drink, mix with other narcotics or burn off the time-release additive which smoking or crushing the pill does. Then I could see it killing you.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Oxycontin, it's not a "demon" the company isn't to blame for every kid who uses it as a party drug to get high or every opiate junkie who plugs or mainline's one. If you're following doctors orders and taking the amount you're prescribed you should be perfectly fine. If you come off of them and taper down as your doctor orders. You'll be fine. Don't blame the drug blame the people that make very poor choices...

In addition to my earlier post. I keep my medication locked in my gun safe out of reach of my two teenaged boys. They know better than to touch them but one can never be too cautious. Even though I'm a legally prescribed user, I can't imagine the pain of withdrawals street users must go through when getting of Oxys. I don't even tell people I'm on Oxy as I fear word would spread and my house would be burglarized for those pills. It will kill you if you think its just a party drug!
yea im 21 years old, and im prescribed for chronic pain aswell. i have lower back issues with discs , and i have a steel plate and screws in my arm from a car accident, which is why i got prescribed oxy... i started out with 5mg percocet, then a year after that, the doctor upped it to 10mg percocet, and from there it was 30mg oxycodone. i didnt have withdrawls with the 5-10mg, they just helped the pain.. but with these 30mg, i get high as a kite(which sometimes makes me sick). you live in S FL?

I've been on Oxy for the last 10 years legally for chronic pain. I take it legally yet I go through withdrawals when it's nearing time for my 2nd dose in the evening. I may be legit but the body doesn't know the difference. I feel sorry for those who think Oxy is a recreational drug. This video just proved how deadly this drug is.

@calzowned I'm guessing that you have never seen anyone withdrawaling from alcohol or benzos. Opiates do not compare with liquor, xanax or klonapin addiction. If you have ever seen anyone going through DTs, you'll know what I'm talking bout. I've been up to 3-4 80s a day, and got sick as fuck when I didn't have any. No sleep, constantly sweating, puking and shitting my brains out, but I still wouldn't trade it for seizures and constant trembling that alcohol and benzos cause.

If oxycontin doesn't kill you, heroin will. And trust me...if you're buying street OC, sooner or later your pill habit will be too expensive and you'll be snorting dope (heroin). Sooner or later after that, your snorting habit will be too expensive and you'll be shooting dope.
If you haven't made it that far, get help. Suboxone helped taper me off dope but I wouldn't still be clean is it wasn't for Narcotics Anonymous. Look into NA, it'll save your life.
Totally true. I was put on oxycontin in the hospital, after an accident. I took it very sparingly, enough to ease back the worst of the pain. Two weeks later, when I was discharged, I stopped taking it... for about two hours!! I had no idea I had become addicted. I was not warned about this danger. Narconon of Georgia helped me and I got off it very quickly. This stuff is horrible; I can't believe Pardue Pharma still makes it (they admitted to lies about how addictive it was).
Narconon is a scientology front. If you want real recovery go to Narcotics Anonymous and work your own recovery with the help of other addicts in recovery. Don't let some scientologist that's never touched a drug tell you that you're addicted because of you need auditing and all that shit.
I quit this stuff cold turkey on my own 7 weeks ago. If you are still doing this, please quit. It is just a matter of "when" you are going to die, not "if".
i was dependent on oxycontin for eight years and couldnt take the withdrawals..tried suboxone which helped but then just became dependent on that instead..what saved my life ( literally) was detoxification under anesthesia by the Waismann method..if youre serious about quitting opiates, i really suggest looking them up and calling..good luck to all who struggle with this misery
OC's & Heroine are the KING of drugs (nothing gonna make you feel better). Once you're all hooked & blowing chunks in the morning, I suggest White Deer Run rehab in Allenwood PA. People that are entrenched in opioid addiction do not share the same thought process or values as a sober individual. I have overdosed on black tar heroin (which is pretty much the same high as oxy), and was brought back to life, and all I could think was "that was some good shit." I've put my family through hell, and completely didnt care. Thats the mindset of an addict. I've had about 9 people that I was fairly close to die from oxy or heroin, and kept using. U have to want to quit, and I did.

I know plenty of people who smoke weed, may have tried hard drugs a couple times as alot of people do, don't bother doing hard drugs again but stick to smoking weed. The fact is even is you do get slightly addicted to pot, coming off it is really not a big deal if you had too, but why would you want to. It causes no real ill effects except a couple hours of mild pleasure, much less then 6 or 8 beer would do to you.

I used to snort cocaine and drink a lot when i was younger. But i knew enough then to avoid oxys... people would bust them out at a party and i would go home. I only binged on them once or twice and it felt so good i never touched them again. Sorry for your loss, some people just are not strong enough to use drugs.

What the fuck are you talking about? Oxycodone is a lifesaver. It's the golden standard for break thru pain. Hell, they even gave me oxycodone for treatment resistant depression after years of taking dozens of meds that didnt work. This one did. It saved my life. I now have the will to live and help those around me again. You can overdose on it by taking way way too much, of course. But do you blame the kitchen knife when someone stabs themself to commit suicide?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Oxycontin, it's not a "demon" the company isn't to blame for every kid who uses it as a party drug to get high or every opiate junkie who plugs or mainline's one. If you're following doctors orders and taking the amount you're prescribed you should be perfectly fine. If you come off of them and taper down as your doctor orders. You'll be fine. In addition to my earlier post. I keep my medication locked in my gun safe out of reach of my two teenaged boys. They know better than to touch them but one can never be too cautious. Even though I'm a legally prescribed user, I can't imagine the pain of withdrawals street users must go through when getting of Oxys. I don't even tell people I'm on Oxy as I fear word would spread and my house would be burglarized for those pills. It will kill you if you think its just a party drug!

yea im 21 years old, and im prescribed for chronic pain aswell. i have lower back issues with discs , and i have a steel plate and screws in my arm from a car accident, which is why i got prescribed oxy... i started out with 5mg percocet, then a year after that, the doctor upped it to 10mg percocet, and from there it was 30mg oxycodone. i didnt have withdrawls with the 5-10mg, they just helped the pain.. but with these 30mg, i get high as a kite(which sometimes makes me sick). you live in S FL?

If you have ever seen anyone going through DTs, you'll know what I'm talking bout. I've been up to 3-4 80s a day, and got sick as fuck when I didn't have any. No sleep, constantly sweating, puking and shitting my brains out, but I still wouldn't trade it for seizures and constant trembling that alcohol and benzos cause.

I tell you what, I thank the female for posting this in real time scenario, no one thinks about the risk when doing the frug, but the outcome is this when it becomes over board by a user. I have done oxy for 3months, and I thnak the lord I came off of them so easlly, it was recreational for me, but for some its just to get through days. The reality came for me when I saw that its actually heroin, and who wants to be a dope head, better thangs in life to waste money on, HOW BOUT NEW JORDANS. lol

If oxycontin doesn't kill you, heroin will. And trust me...if you're buying street OC, sooner or later your pill habit will be too expensive and you'll be snorting dope (heroin). Sooner or later after that, your snorting habit will be too expensive and you'll be shooting dope.
If you haven't made it that far, get help. Suboxone helped taper me off dope but I wouldn't still be clean is it wasn't for Narcotics Anonymous. Look into NA, it'll save your life.

Totally true. I was put on oxycontin in the hospital, after an accident. I took it very sparingly, enough to ease back the worst of the pain. Two weeks later, when I was discharged, I stopped taking it... for about two hours!! I had no idea I had become addicted. I was not warned about this danger. Narconon of Georgia helped me and I got off it very quickly. This stuff is horrible; I can't believe Pardue Pharma still makes it (they admitted to lies about how addictive it was).

Narconon is a scientology front. If you want real recovery go to Narcotics Anonymous and work your own recovery with the help of other addicts in recovery. Don't let some scientologist that's never touched a drug tell you that you're addicted because of you need auditing and all that shit.

i was dependent on oxycontin for eight years and couldnt take the withdrawals..tried suboxone which helped but then just became dependent on that instead..what saved my life ( literally) was detoxification under anesthesia by the Waismann method..if youre serious about quitting opiates, i really suggest looking them up and calling..good luck to all who struggle with this misery

OC's & Heroine are the KING of drugs (nothing gonna make you feel better). Once you're all hooked & blowing chunks in the morning, I suggest White Deer Run rehab in Allenwood PA. The have a methadone to abstinence program that made the anguish of detox a little less like walking death. Good luck to all of you who enter the Oxy realm.

Ive been addicted to Oxy for about seven months now... Wish I would have never touched the shit. My life has been a living HELL. My marriage is falling apart and so is everything I ever had. i quit three days ago and am doing ok.... I am soo depressed and feel worthless. Yesterdays got nothing for me....

People that are entrenched in opioid addiction do not share the same thought process or values as a sober individual. I have overdosed on black tar heroin (which is pretty much the same high as oxy), and was brought back to life, and all I could think was "that was some good shit." I've put my family through hell, and completely didnt care. Thats the mindset of an addict. I've had about 9 people that I was fairly close to die from oxy or heroin, and kept using. U have to want to quit, and I did.
