It is the best feeling in the world to come across something special. I'm purchasing this album as I write this. Thank you! I wish there was more room in my room to dance!
Amazing; how i'd love to belong to this people; just living with the necessary to survive, and never envy his brother just as man of big towns...Good job, good guitar; good music of corse...

@kurtkristensen Well if you do I hope you credit them for your grooves. If you want to get royalties earned back to them you can through Global Music Exchange (google it). Lets have fair trade for musicians wherever they come from!
Illegal logging by the CPDM government (Paul Biya corrupt regime) is destroying the natural culture and livelihood of the equatorial rain forest indigenous people. I love this video. Cameroon is the place to be.
Cameroon is amazing. The best people and country in the world... I was there for six months in and around the Korup jungle. These people are singing in English believe it or not; pidgin english. If you listen you will hear what they are saying. The music is called makossa (ma-koo-sa) You can never get enough. Look up Sam Fan Thomas... I LOVE CAMEROON! In my heart, I'm Cameroonian!!!
Baka Gbiné will be performing at a festival we are organising in Limbé, Cameroon on 16th Jan 2010. You can meet them there and maybe they will invite you to visit their home. Keep watching our website and we will be posting updates when we have more information. Sign up to the mailing list on the Baka Beyond website or follow on twitter and you will be updated when we have new information
as a musician from the caribbean I must say they are amaizing conections between this and the music of the dominican republic and the republic of haiti.
:) we are essentially the same people. we all come from the same place. It's just that we in the west were taken from our home & scattered. All of the rhythms, most of the melodies, & musical logistics of the Latin world & America are from this-the most musical-continent. If you don't believe me, just find the west & central African traditional music videos that utilize traditional instruments & see if you don't hear the roots of, blues, spirituals, calypso, etc., in some form or another. ciao
I'm a fan of a variety of African music and these people are inately talented. Big fan of Shona Mbira from Zimbabwe, south african folk, Malo kora, and now this.

The Cameroon government are more helpful than they were 15 years ago. There's a lot to be positive about there - open debate and free press. The Cameroonians are generally well informed about the world.
I've lived with this family on and off for the last 15 years and as far as I know none of them has AIDS. 30% of their children die before their fifth birthday and I've seen more adults die there than I have in my whole life in England, but that's from normally easily cured illnesses due to their poverty.
They're generally happier people than the English tho!
This is so touching. I can't believe how much music they can produce with very few instruments and under such accoustic conditions. Incredible indeed! I just love it.
Heavenly music. This is great. Very proud to see my people enjoying the best things in life- a feeling of close-knit communal spirit, peace, happiness, freedom devoid of the hassles of modernism. I am one of them and wish I were there right now! There is more to Africa than meets the eye.
Great indeed. Music of the year. Sound recording. Am nostalgic. Simple and normal life though with political Dictators. People have learn t to be happy in every situation. I love and miss my Darling Cameroon.
Like joesubscriber, I long to return to the rainforest. As soon as I leave it, I miss it. The music here is genius. It's genius in it's simplicity, underlying complexity, and in its harmoney. Beautiful!
astonishingly simple and beautiful. Surely the gods are smiling at this music under the Samauma tree. This is my favorite video of recent viewing. I am nostalgic for the forest in Amazonas when I see these men making music under the great tree. Why am I now stuck in the great city of the north?
