I love guns and I love shooting. I was in the cadets and I am very good shot. I'm considering the royal marines. But your countrys "right to bear arms" is extremely fucking stupid. The only people who need assault rifles are the police and the army. That part of the constitution was put in place during times of instability in government. Well it may seem stupid to you, but we have fought for our rights to own guns. The argument that a person doesn't need to own an "assault rife" is where it starts. Here people start arguments by changing things that relate to it that doesn't seem so crazy, then they change what once was the norm and push it a little further down. If they outlawed assault rifles you know what would happen? All of the felons drug dealers would keep theirs and the innocent public would be defenseless.

what you seem to be missing is the fact that true fully automatic assault weapons and machine guns have been nearly impossible to own since 1934. to get one takes months and thousands of dollars, an extremely detailed background check and a 200 dollar tax. you even have to get your local police chief or sheriff to sign your form. the "assault weapons" people talk about on the news are basic semi auto rifles that look like the military versions but function differently. take the ar15 for example.
