I'm, for all intents and purposes, an atheist. However, it's obvious that this song isn't anti-religion. It isn't even portraying Satan as a sympathetic character. It's showing him as what most Christians describe him to be: A shameless, lying sociopath and a spoiled brat who is so bitter about his punishment that he will go after God's children to hurt his "father" the same way he has been hurt, and will embellish the details of his fall to garner sympathy. It's not the religion of Christianity that people have a problem with. It's the Christians they meet that sour their ideas of what it should be. Don't ever let a Bible beater from the South tell you what's wrong...they will ALWAYS give you a negative impression.

Most Atheists don't hate the actual religion nor the ideals, what they do hate is the Blind faith that it commands, and the sour (some Atheists know them as evil) christians that try to force the religion upon us, using the excuse that we'll all go to hell if we don't. As a result of this hatred, they end up targeting the actual religion while spreading Atheism.

And I'm okay with it, to be honest...if I was Atheist, or any other religion for that matter, and a Christian came up to me and threatened repent or hell, I wouldn't like them either. I'm just pointing out that if you meet the good ones that don't force it, there wouldn't be need for negative comments towards them. If anything, we can be blamed for it, I'm just saying that it's a problem that needs fixing.

When I'm talking with christians I always make sure to tell them that I do not have anything against them for believing what they do. I'm just saying that they can't prove anything, and they should be able to get their own perspective of things. But most christians will remain seeing me as a person that will burn in hell, and some of them have tried to convert me to christianity as well.

@legendaryusername I'm a (somewhat) christian, and Whilst I agree that the bible isn't the nicest of books, you have to remember when it was written. In those days, those things were normal, and likely they sought to find divine meaning in natural disasters that made them feel better. It is easier to think that God floods an to kill the wicked, isn't it? You have to look at the intention behind the bible. Those words were written by humans, but its a message of peace and love. Thats how I see it
