Crumbling cheese by hand is not as easy as it sounds. They probably have a giant cheese crumbling machine at the Kraft plant that does the work that would take you 15 minutes in a few seconds, so it's more efficient to pay a little extra to have them do it.

Only a small problem here. EMF's song was released in 1990. This canadian christian rap-rock outfit you have a hard on for didn't form until 1997. So... contrary to whatever wacky notions you've got floating around your head, EMF wrote the original. And the original is 10,000 times better than this irritating cover you mention.

Well... the song on that commecial is a commercial jingle. It is, of course, BASED on the original EMF song. But this version substitutes lyrics about cheese for lyrics about whatever the hell they were talking about in the original song.

The first woman, the one eating straight out of the bag, is over-selling this (which is a pretty big statement since the the commercial is selling little bits of cheese). She's making it seem as if this new processed cheese product is the greatest thing since sliced bread. KRAFT cheese is yummy, but it's not "eat straight from the bag, you'll look cool!" yummy.

I hate to contradict you ther gulstaf, but I've sliced and grated my share of cheese over the years and I must say: cheese is actually very east to cut. Cutting diamonds is difficult. Cutting through granite... also difficult. Cutting through cheese: very easy. Whereas diamonds and granite are very hard, cheese is generally quite soft -- very accomidating to all manner of blades. The way I see it, if you are too lazy to crumble your own cheese, you do not deserve to eat it!

I think it really depends on how aged the cheese is. Very mild cheese is like rubber. In my experience, if you want crumbly cheese, you have to buy it well aged.
