this is harder, more exciting and more "real" then shooting an animal from 300 yards away. i understand there is the whole "dont let the animal sufffer" argument. but does it really matter? it only takes a couple of minutes after it's stung for it to die compared to a bullet which can take anywhere from an instant to hours, even days if youre not a good shot. hunting is hunting. this seems more caveman style to me, heheeh

@millsbucks Sometimes this is faster than a rifle. The chase gets the pigs heart rate up, so once its stuck, it bleeds out in a hurry. Hogs can run for quite a while after shot if not hit in the heart, and possibly get away with a wound that will take days to kill them. This guarantees a kill.

What some of you don't understand is the huge problem that wild hogs create in the habitat in which they have been introduced. Wild hogs cause about 50 million, yes million, in crop damage a year in Texas alone (No I am not from Texas, just an example). Typically, when using dogs, it is much too dangerous to use a gun, therefore, a knife to the heart is the fastest, most humane way to kill the hog.

The reason dogs are a better way to hunt is " prey drive" Hogs will move out of an area when the recognize they are being hunted by another predator. When using a gun you can literally pile them up one on top of the other and it doesn't register, they will stay on that property. As far as the knife most guys who use dogs won't fire a gun to avoid accidentally hitting a dog. This type of hunting is hard to watch but it's honestly very effective.
