avalanches are a part of the risk. thats why we love to snowmachine. its an extreme sport and the risks give it the fun. if there were no risks, very few people would do it. just respect nature, but also respect the people that participate in the sport. i hate how people generalize all riders and say all of us are idiots and obnoxious. not everyone is. we are just having fun.
lindarl, you truly are dumb i give up if you wanna sit here forever arguing over something you have no idea about. and no i dont mean to be rude but i really dont care anymore your really starting to piss me off.who is dumb you ask?who do you think im talking about you idiot.you dont even have a point in any of this except making your self sound dumb, end of story.i have better things to do then waste time with you
lindarl you never give up do you?two helli skiers died this weekend to so now tell me how skiers are any smarter then sledders?call me a pig i dont give a shit obvioussly it has nothing to do with the noise or risk.whatever skiers do caused that slide i dont no sking but unlike someone i dont pretend to no a sport that i dont no.you are starting to really sound dumb now and i ant the only one saying it.i dont mean to be rude but come on.and i agree with rider4343 your being immature now.
theres no talking with either of you as you add things I did not say as part of your rants...did I say skiers were smarter....did I say I knew a sport?...read your posts -& you dont mean be rude? who is dumb? -"no, i ant"
Rider4343..anyone who sends pms like you is not someone would I would meet. You sound sick & deranged. no further comment- too off topic
I have blocked rider4343 for very immature personal messages sent that don't even stay on topic and have to become rude and personal Grow up...isn't it great to be able to hide behind your user name
@rata4you i ant trying to be big i ant saying it was right for them to be there.but you no as well as i do that you could set an avy off as easy as i could.and what about all the ppl on the ski hill?and the ppl at the bottom?what makes your sport safer then ours?you could also die as easy as i could they are both dangorous sport i had my brother break his back sledding just last year i also had a friend break his back for years ago snowbording.and i dont need to prove my self to anyone
all i have left to say is dont be putting what other ppl do down, and dont be saying stuff that you no ant true cuz one day you might just need that same search and reascue to come get you off the hill and then what are you going to say?accidents happen avalanches happen even when there is no sighns of them its mother nature you cant predict it man
"dont be putting other people down?" Why is it ok for u to? True skiiing and other stuff can set of avalanches but give me a break, what a moronic comparison.. skiing to all these heavy machines cutting deep in snow? I couldn't care less if u die loving what u do(+)and it makes your life so exciting, (your opinion only my life is boring)At least I consider other people with noise and risk. U are a pig as said earlier, my opinion will not matter to u cuz of that-u only consider your enjoyment
yes as a snowmobiler from the back country and knowing that i had friends at the big iron shoot out iam thankfull for the hard quick work that was done.if it want for all the sledders coming together at this time the situation could have been much worse.and thanks to the search and reascue.very good work, much appreciated! despite what the media and all the other ppl have to say
@lindarl where we ride there ant no hiking, biking or horse back riding.incase your to slow to notice but its WINTER.and your right im sorry it dont waste air to right.but this is ten minutes of my life im wasting on your boring ass.oh and hey was there not a snowboarder killed just yeaturday?huh, thats wierd nothing better to do then slid down some hill on plywood.think before you speak!
With the rescue teams... they only went in after the area was secured. and also, ITS THEIR JOB. they wouldnt have choicen to take that career path if they didnt want to do it. Their work is appreciated!!
You are a little misinformed on this. The people that go into these situations are highly trained individuals yes, but it is not their chosen career path. Most were pilots & guides from local ski operations, ski patrol from the local resort, parks employees and of course the sledders at the event & in the area. They go in immediately after the call for help goes out and they are the ones that secure the area, there is no time to wait when people are buried. It is a day they will not forget.
hey guesse what i must be a redneck.and people like me think people like you that sit back and do nothing and tell everyone how too make it better and just talk other people down.we think that your just an absolute waste ok skin.you should really think before you mention shit tax payers pay for insurance to retard.
@mrtwinder....haha ya dont some people have boring lives like what do they do?wouldnt it be nice if they lived there lives the way they want and leave us alone.and ya its tax payers money but hey we pay it anyway and thats why we pay it but they dont see it from our point only when they need a ride to the hospital is it a good thing to pay for
Do the people who risk their lives to help these people when they make errors in judgement have boring lives too?? Maybe instead of wasting time insulting each other, you could take some time to thank all of those involved in the search & rescue operation. Even a self proclaimed redneck can be capable of that.
lindarl... that is complete bull, You've been in a car, haven't you?? So dont get on snowmobilers for "polluting". if your going to give your little speach about reducing emissions, start with Vancouvers 2.7 million tonnes of CO2, will ya?
And about the "macho morons" bit. Im a university student with a 3.4 GPA, and also a girl, and im doing the exact same thing up in the hills, which proves, macho, not really, and moron, PLEASE!so you, and the media, need to start getting your facts straight.
yes- have been in a car- out of NECESSITY at times and totally agree about Vancouver-noise/air pollution - more should not be added with these little machines in the name of one persons "fun" disturbing many who hike, bike, ride horses and are actually out to enjoy the scenery-not ruin it for their own selfish ripping around &posing risk.People who live in Vancouver etc should have a right to get away from noise and traffic and I will say again that the majority are macho morons- some are fem
@lindarl! im with cory2146 im just not scared to get into in hey, lindarl what i would like to no is if our sports are useless what do you do?im so sick of people stereotyping our sports cuz its dangerous you dont have the first idea by the sounds of it what you do in the sport of sledding.if you are so worried about the air why dont you do yourself and the rest of us a favour, stoping wasting air by shutting your lips!
another idiotic "sport" at the best of times. I wish they would ban jet skis, atvs, monster trucks, snowmobiles and other polluting machines for such useless activities. Lots of injuries happen with these, partly because any moron can ride, the noise can carry for miles not to mention the other environmental pollution and destruction. Its too bad this happened, but I for one am sick of these macho morons who cant prove themselves without motorized metal
More power More pollution, More fun, have fun living in your cave petting your fuzzy animal to protect you from the outside world. People like you have boring obituaries. I choose to live and have fun with my life, Good day to you Mr Boring.
Don't they carry transponders on their necks? Dunno why one wouldn't when racing through an area where an avalanche can happen. It would make it alot easier to find those under the snow.
It is so very unfortuante that this incident happened, and you can be sure it is because of the avy beacons that they were wearing that so many were rescued alive. Please think logically before commenting.
Never mind that bulletins had been issued all week, and spring brings extra instability to the snow pack, especially with an 80 cm dump, what bothers me most is that these supposed "experierenced" backcountry riders allowed a group of newby spectators to gather directly in a known slide path. Boys, if you want to kill yourselves, that's fine, but for Gods sake leave your wives and kids at home. My prayers go out to those who have lost loved ones.
too bad this happened. I haven't been to boulder/turbo hill in a long time, but sure understand the risk. After letting a plywood sized sheet of snow loose long ago I know the power of an avalanche. This unsponsored, unofficial "competition" should have been banned by the local club - as the they were against it given the conditions. Sad part is that there were families, kids, inexperienced people there. view the turbo hill vid in my channel to see where it happened.
cracking down on the sport, nice. never mind the fact those 200 people ignored avalanche warnings put them selfs in direct danger, warnings are there for a reasion.
