  • So nice, finally the original :)

  • Oh yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Bog off Florence :))

  • Nice

  • Ohhhh the original is a Boogie track? Wonderful!

  • Number 1 song on my birthday >.>

  • In 1988 I heard a number of the Source in a recordshop without Candy.I don,t know the title and there are a few numbers of them on youtube, not the one i mean.Nevertheless it,s a magnificient band.I hope there are coming soon more numbers on youtube.

  • Lord, you've got the love i need to see me through :)

  • Pure class.

  • same than florence's ! - I LOVE IT !

  • @FotoProducer13

Because Florence just COPIED Candi Staton.

  • @agfagaevart They are completely different versions :L she covered it... not copied it.

  • @fayzles

The MUSIC may be different, but the VOCALS are exactly the same.

  • @agfagaevart Florence sings it with more power. Give it a listen. :') Also if Florence sang it any other way you would have complained..

  • @fayzles

Her vocal sounds powerful, because it is the same as Candi Staton's. If she had done a completely different take on the song, believe me, I would have complimented her. Check out the difference between Rose Royce's version of "Love Don't Live Here Anymore", with Jimmy Nail's version; Both of them are on this site. Both are great!!!

  • @fayzles Bullshit!!!! Sorry to be so rude BUT this IS the original - this is the track that had people filling the best clubs and raves in the early 90s. This track is a rave track - it always was and it always will be. THAT woman with her silly hair and her silly dresses and her even sillier make-up raped the original - Sorry mate but I get regularly quite upset about this one - it's just a generational difference I guess :)) Peace.

  • @agfagaevart still Florence did a pretty good job ;)

  • @YarieRod I agree. I really love all of the versions of You Got The Love. Each one is brilliant in its own way.

  • this one will always be the one and only version for us who were out there at the clubs at the time....even if it does sound out of tune at times....the music i mean not candi....original and best full stop.

  • Much prefered!

  • Big Gospel Tune. I love this Version only.. .I have this and would never sell it

  • iv got the luv ;p

  • this song is amazing, but i would never have guessed it was as late as 86. id have said maybe early 80s

  • have anybody this amazing track in mp3 in good quality??? i have one in 128 kbs , it's very poor ! seekin for this for years!! pls HELP ME!! =)

  • every once in a while . . . o.c.c.a.s.i.o.n.a.l.l .y . hands . air .. this song .. this version yup, get the house ones to but ... but

  • the real thang...

  • candi staton will allways ownthis song if i ever find dj who says its shit ill feed him his jive bunny faves lol x

  • Where can i find this version?

  • @josue83 You can purchase it from England via Discogs on the internet. I just did. Waiting for it to arrive. I had never heard this version until a couple of months via Youtube. I had never heard it here New York City. Not even in the clubs. I think this would have been hot back in 1986. And that is when I used to give parties. Bronx, N.Y.C.

  • i perfer this version i always thought the other too 'trendy'

  • I knew I'd heard this before. Classic....

  • @trevgoodchild Classic!

  • Typical case in which a remix literally resurrect a soso song...

  • As for me, both versions are good and original. This one is more funky-filled track, but Florence's is also good as it has got something different to offer.

  • @jamflip ...and it was a horrible cover!

  • Finally! I was so searching for this version. This is by far the most funkified version :)) Thanks

  • Never heard this version before but now i much prefer it to the 90's remix version. A true disco or club classic.

  • Thanks - this is great - I think the 1990 version is so different - almost like they come frmo a different age - this is more like a classic disco track with funky bass and backing singers, and the 1990 mix is a much more sparse arrangement, but no less danceable.

  • Genius

  • I LOVE this song.

  • I moved to London when yhis was released. Favourite place to listen to back then: the WAG club.

  • @bluRnBliss The Wag has been my second home from 1987 to 1989 :)

  • @DjKahle i Yusta ment that this is now a 'classic' wotever that means and as such is up 4 covering as a 'homage' or a cash in - only your ears can decide

and dont any 1 be rude - every one is 'ignorant' until they hear a song D'oh

  • L*O*V*E

  • oh wow....i didnt even know the florence and machine version was a cover! wow

  • Classic banger, I know I can always count on you Lord

  • its CANDI FUNKIN STATON

    4FFFFFFFFFFSsake

the Record Companies and your Cowell monkey

have tried 2 kill off any kind of real GUTS 2 THE GUTSYNESS THATS REQ

    2 even tryyyyyyyyyyyyy this tune

DONNA GLADYS GRACE LOLEATTA ETC etc THE LIST IS ENDLESS

    well thats 'fashion' eh?

  • @MURPHNSPUD The new generation with ears for listening will never forget these greats. I buy every copy i can find of tracks like this, and always promote the original talents FIRST to the ignorant masses!

  • ♥♥♥ love ♥♥♥

  • Love it!!

  • this and joss' are the best versions

  • I hadn´t heard that FATM version, checked it out and it was just a piece of shyte. On the other hand, the XX remix of the FATM tune is brilliant. After all, this original 12" is spinning on my 1200´s.

  • I remember Radio 1 playing this version for a while when it was first a hit in 1991. This is the best version by far imo.

  • How does Florence's Version even compare??? Im gonna consider that a whole different song cause they sound nothing alike.

...her's sounds horrible. lol This has tons more melody and actual rhythm.

  • @swishahouse68

exactly, f.a.t.m version are not a patch on candi's vocal

  • Amazing song :)

  • I like a song therefore I'm going to call everyone that doesn't like it a fucking dumbass because they don't agree with me!

No but really I respect other people's opinions and lots of music. So stop being immature idiots.

  • horrible.

Florence does it so much better :)

  • 9 people are lady ga ga fans....

  • no I love this version MUCH MUCH better

  • Sorry to say, but Florence's version sounds MUCH better.

  • this sounds disco more than 80s pop!

  • Fantastic , pure gold , the best !!

  • one and only true version dot

  • funk the house mix, this is how i remember it in flicks!

  • the old days....

  • gosh!! I never knew, there's me thinking that Flo was a genius for writing it!! This is soooo eighties. I love it. Thank you sooo much for sharing. Way better than Flo's version. Can't sit still with this version playing.

  • Personally I think between the original and F+tM's cover, whether one is better than the other is really just a matter of preference. Honestly I prefer Florence's cover, but that may just be a little biased because I love her vocals.

  • Just checked the Florence version. Are you kidding?! All the funk is gone. Sounds flat. Original is where it's at. Thanks for putting this up ;)

  • florence is so much better

  • finally found that tune of dj yoda mix:) soooooooo happy

  • Oh no... i remember this, pre the source and florence. Hmmm still good

  • just can't stop listening to this for last few weeks .. thanks again Mark

    OCCASIONALY!

  • I can't stop listening to this ... its so meaty

  • so glad they remixed it! took it from sweet dance song to epic masterpiece...

  • WAY better than FTM.

  • i remember back in early eighties with two original copies and mixing this song for hours on end and when i here it today it has an even greater effect on me (brings tears to my eyes...it was a very good time in my life). I was suprised to learn that Farly "funkin" Keith of Chicago (Pre-House era) was the mixer/remixer of this timeless classic

  • classic.

  • HI what is the name of this version???

  • original version . this is the best. other remix craps can't be compared to this one

  • Does anybody know what album this is on? Been trying to get this original track for years!!

  • Hell, I love both this original and Florence's cover, why are people throwing hate to either of them?

P.S. thank you florence for ressurecting this song! I would've never heard of it otherwise

  • Hell, I love both the original and Florence's cover, thank you Florence for leading me to this!

  • I haven't heard this (Original & Best) version for years. It reminds of times spent listening to Tony Blackburn on Radio London and being shocked at what he use to get away with live on air but loving the great music he would play!!! Tony Blackburn & this tune still rocks!!!

  • HAVE FUNK !!!

  • 8 people have thumbed this track down!! How can you not love this tune??

  • Now that's the real shiznit, not that remixed piece of crap I keep coming across.

  • classic! she is brilliant live too!

  • classic! she is brilliant live too!

  • The mystery is unfolding from this song. They put this vocal with Frankie Knucles' "your love" and created a true house classic! This is very good too.

  • i like them both

  • I love the orignal my dad still has it.

  • sooooo beautifullllllllllll *****

  • Why is it that.. Whenever people find the original version of a song, they always whine about the cover? Both of them, most of the time, are good..

  • this is one priceless record

  • incredible <3

  • Way better than Florence could ever muster out of her trembling voicebox.

  • @dominicrusho Hahaha! :D

  • The best source for all the original Candi Staton vinyls is GEMM . com .

  • This is a great version I saw Candi in Dublin on saturday night! she was amazing for seventy looks 50!!..note perfect on every song and boy can she groove!! .I am not a born again christian myself but she gets her message over in a very discreet way ,I am sure she is one of the blessed!! A lot of people donot realise this is a spirtual song!!

  • @thespecialk94

Ha ha you are WRONG there. Those remixes are a disgrace to a wonderful ORIGINAL tune.

  • Ahhh - the PROPER VERSION. This song does not need all those abortion remixes. This is the one. AND THE ONLY.

  • @TheDufster Half the covers are utter shit too remember.

  • hUMm SOOO great My favorite version! this is REAL DISCO not NU DISCO! lol

  • I Just want her voice no shit door bells wtf please help its for my future wife ! Love the lyrics means a hell of a lot will floor her .

  • @pmo56 look up the Source FT. Candi Station - You've got the love

  • Been looking for this for ages!!! absalutely brilliant!!!!! x x x x x x

  • ddddddddddddddiiiiiiiiiiiissssssssssssssssccccccccccccooooooooo!!!!!!!!!

  • Finally got to see Candi perform live at the Concorde 2 in Brighton on Friday and she was fantastic - note perfect, gave it all she had, despite being a septegenerian. The band teased the better-known 1990 version at the beginning and the end of the song, but the main thrust was still based on this version. Fantastic!

  • @markwrightrf gutted i missed it :(

  • @markwrightrf that must habve been a real treat such a voice

  • @markwrightrf

    91 version ;-)

  • This is the only (the original, and in my book, the best) version of this song I own, and it caused a bit of a rumpus when I played this to my daughter after her raving on about the Florence And The Machine version. This encapsulates the 80's sound for me, bouncy, fun and at least there's a groove to it unlike the bland covers that, sadly, fill the airwaves these days.

  • @GazzTheFunkadelic with you all the way on that one.

  • @GazzTheFunkadelic i Totally agree with you, these terrible covers that are around these days, everything overly done with this auto tune bullshit.. can't people sing anymore?!

  • @AmnesiaEffect Exactly my friend, artists these days sound so good in the studio, then you hear them live and think ''Oh dear!!''. It's all about making the money these days rather than showcasing real talent.

  • @GazzTheFunkadelic Quit whining.

  • @JaredKelso123 Quit being a funny cunt

  • @GazzTheFunkadelic Quit swearing.

  • @GazzTheFunkadelic you are so right!

  • Get-in! This version is ace :) Cheers for uploading this Mark. Top stuff

  • Hi Mark, Is there any chance you could upload YOU GOT THE LOVE (Club House) 6:07 from the B side?

  • This is great: Ilove the 'bouncing' , upfront, bass, but I still prefer the sublime 1990s version

  • i danced to this back in the day .. the 1990 version is new to me , not bad but why fuck with a great tune

  • Thanks for this track, this was THE original version whichhad been recorded for a video-only 1980s documentary about an obese man who was trying to lose weight! I'd love to see that doc!

  • @JonniePolyester Do you have the name?

  • Absolutely luvin' that funky 80s-disco beat this version has got. This gem could easily keep me groovin' out on the dance floor all night long. =)

(Likin' Now Voyager's 2006 remix, too.)

  • @baldursnaer you live alone, don't you.

  • @HotBlueLightning I don't.

  • Love this original version from Candi Staton in '86...Paradise Garage Soul Style...Sweaterfunkin'!

  • this version is funky n cool butttttttttttt.... it jusn't doesn't have the emotion and uplifting feeling of candi station's version (white guy with the wings).. whenever i'm low i play that tune and everythings ok again for a while

  • cat version

  • By far the best version straight up soul music!!

  • Perfer dizzee and florences

  • My favorite version.

  • There are so many versions of this song around! But this version is as good as any of them, it's really good.

  • This works. This is how it should stay & not keep sticking these lyrics over Jamie principles classic house tune called (Your love)

  • it's more than a cover. they reinterpreted the song, it sounds different

  • Comment removed

  • Guysss, it's called a cover. Florence + The Machine covered the song.

  • @Discosadnessx More like FTM MURDERED this song. I mean it had been released in various forms about 5 time before she decided to shout her way through it.

  • she propably bought the rights?!

  • @ subiblam It's not cheesy nor soulless. Just because you have a shit taste of music. FUCKING BITCH-ASS FAGGOT!

  • same here - i almost jumped.

  • Pretty cool song for the time it was released, but rather outfashioned nowadays. Florence gave it a whole new different touch and won the bet!

  • protsimer, just curl up and die, nice and simple hey (((((((((

  • Oh crap, another fanboy...

  • Frankie Knuckles and Jamie Principle's version wipes the floor with Florence's, I'm afraid.

  • @vinyldude1210 In your book maybe, i'm afraid.

  • Thanks 4 uploading i love this song and never knew this version existed, how sad is that.

  • This the original version is still the best version ever of this track. The Source track messed up the originality of this.

I'm sure this came up as a Gospel tune when it first came out. Its a great track.

I remember buying this when it first came out. I still love this version (The original version) of this track.

This the best version. Just listen to the whole thing, and then listen to the Sources version and then Florence's. You'll come back to this one time and time again.

  • noone should have tried to cover this really tbh I quite like f and tms other stuff but it was a bit cheeky to think they could outdo this

  • i love the 2006 version but this is good too :)

  • Becuase the new mix is bolder and more daring. This doesnt flatter the lyrics too much, but it was good at the time.

  • luv this version and the florence one , there both good and theres differences so i dont really mind

  • @iluvmemagicxox hmm i wouldnt say that. both are great, but much different

  • this song is a lesson in music history and theory. the way music can evolve. the lyrics live on.

  • cool

  • I think that no one born before 1985 prefers Florence's version. In my opinion this particular mix of the song is not as good as the more famous mix, but Candi Staton is THE voice for this.

  • Wow, the melodies sound almost completely different.

  • Why are people leaving comments saying they prefer Florence's version? why are you listening to this then!!

    Originals are always best <3

Florence's is good too, BUT WHO CARES!!!

  • Both versions are good and different :/.

  • I really prefer the instrumental version of Florence, but Candi has a much better voice.

Guess this means I didn't grow up in the 80's.
