@Encephalotrigeminal - I completely agree. I use a facebook page to advertise my writing and if you promote your work and others enjoy it, you have done yourself and them a favour. I don't see self promotion as anything bad (a lot of Youtube videos have advertisements before them for films that people gain an interest then decide to watch them) - I'll do the same to reiterate my point, I wrote a book called "Nascent Illusion" - it is on Amazon and on Facebook.

@Encephalotrigeminal He's not trying to use it for his own personal gain, he's trying to promote his music. An artist has to do this sometimes in order to gain recognition. Now, if he were saying "My music is much better than SotL" I'd understand your point, but he's just trying to garner some recognition for his work.

@UnitedDiscord Trying to ring people in from videos of other bands is in my opinion personal gain, he doesnt need to say he is better than them. By putting his music on youtube and using unsolicited advertisements to have people look at his music is annoying and attention seeking.

and yeah he is just promoting his music, but he is promoting it for an ego boost and to try to gain fans

I do music and graphic art, I promote myself as much as possible because there's always the possibility that someone listens or looks at it and says "Hey, this guy's not so bad, he sounds like ___" It's not for an ego boost, it's recognition that counts in the art world.

@EtherialMoon The album 'Cendre' by Fennesz and Sakamoto Ryuichi is one of my favorite ambient albums of all time, I also advise checking out the artists 'Helios', 'Porn Sword Tobacco' and to some extent, 'Calika'.
