  • this isn't hipster, it's pretty punk. it's also beautiful.

  • pretty much both.

  • Wow, not?

  • They sound nothing like the Mountain Goats aside from the fact that they have a folky sound.

  • there voices have a somewhat similar quality

  • This is the only song I've heard in years that truly blows me away. Probably the best song I've ever heard in my life.

  • I usually hate this Hipster crap. But this song really blows me away.

  • How is this hipster?

  • i love andrew jackson jihad

his songs are really thoght inducing

  • This is wonderful. Also, as FleshWoundGoth already mentioned: I like how amateur this sounds. It's like some guys who just wanted to have a good time and record some music basically did those things. And it sounds good.

  • I love the simon and garfunkel reference.

  • what's the picture at 00:53?

    it's fuggin cool

  • Badass song and pictures, good job with the video.

  • i like how amateur this sounds, and they're lyrical madmen. it's like they've got all these ideas that they want to share with the world and don't care how it sound as long as it gets heard. and what d'ya know, it worked. respect

i love the swearing, just spitting his raw, uncensored emotion into the mike, and not giving a hare's ass about what you see wrong in his music, cause so many people are seeing what's right.

  • welcome to 1978. this is punk rock.

  • Anyone have a good tab of this?

I cant figure out what hes doing in the intro and whatnot with his strumming/fingering to play the chords like that.

  • Ahh their lyrics are so clear and straightforward,

they simply grasp onto something meaningful and real.

Damn I wish I didn't relate to this song so much

    AJJ FTW

  • the song

  • The way he describes emotion,

it's something I can relate to.

  • damn thats depressing. but i love it

  • does anyone know the name of the painting or artist of the sheep and the crows.

  • Augustus Schenck

    Anguish

  • Anybody know the origin of the band name?

  • They mention it in an interview somewhere. On youtube, I think.

If I remember right, it has little to no meaning, and they didn't expect to be known by it the way they are now.

  • I think I found the interview. It's the first result if you google "andrew jackson jihad interview"

  • amazing.

    on an almost daily basis.

  • Wow, this song speaks to me.

  • Probably one of the strangest yet most excellent songs I've ever heard... and this is coming from a huge metalhead.

Any other recommendations along this line of music... odd lyrics like this are a plus. Thanks :]

  • What the fuck

  • I think this just speaks true of human nature. Everyone has evil inside their souls, it's what they choose to do that make up their character. I like this singer. Great video, goes well with the words.

  • planet X on my account date 14/3/2009. look it up.

  • well i do like IT.

  • Whats the painting with the whales in the sky?

  • This song is absolutely haunting.

    I love it.

  • Hehe thanks. Its a fair enough analysis, because for some people it probably is just spoilt white guilt. And yeah, a lot of comments are just spelling errors and insults ^^

  • To be honest, I can appreciate the song as well... Its evocative and made me want to comment. Most really interesting Art will make you stop and think. Thanks for the thoughtful reply... I thought I would only get flamed but I agree with you that we need to expose ourselves to everything in order to have a good reference for our opinions.

  • I also agree with your previous comment, but if you have the album that this song is on, the song that follows it, called "people" is about finding the good in people. one line that sticks in my mind goes "people are my religion because i believe in them"

  • Depressing and cynical. This song exploits the sadness and "White Guilt" of a spoiled generation. I hope the young and inexperienced fan base of this stuff can pull their heads out of their self-absorbed pity long enough to find the good in people. Very sad.

  • meh.

  • One side of the coin man, I listen to sad and happy songs. Young and inexperienced, err well I'm certainly not inexperienced whilst im 'young' I still have the depth of emotion to appreciate this song K9 castro.

  • I really don't understand your position k9castro.

"exploits the sadness and "White Guilt" of a spoiled generation"

what do you mean? Where is white guilt?

  • I hope that the Old and Ignorant individuals of this world can pull thier heads out of their self-absorbed self-righteous self-aggrandizement to realise that the fan base of Andrew Jackson Jihad are intelligent enough to understand and appreciate the emotional and artistic merits of this album.

  • If anything this song is an exploration of the existential crisis that individuals suffering from Depression. How does that convey cynicism? That the human experiance isn't a clean and easy journey? Is it cynical youth of today are willing to engage in a dialogue about mental illness in an effort to deal with it, while those of your generation view mental illness as a weakness and did not allow those people suffering from it to help themselves and find solace in the fact that they are not alone?

  • my day = made

  • Amen.

    beautiful paintings and beautiful music.

Does the singer of this band (not sure of his name) suffer from some sort of depression? Either way I agree with the existential crisis comment. I've noticed that more and more people, including myself, have felt the anxiety and pressure of this strange world we live in.

  • Is it just me, that gets goose bumps when I hear this song?

  • good stuff

  • Does anyone know what the painting at 0:33 is? It's pretty intense.

  • Am, C, G, Am.

    simple yet awesome

  • i think its Am, C, G, F
