Things have changed, as mstatz has noted. To be far, maybe they just "ran away" on a hike, and the man who picked them up was a friend or family member?

I remember a similar one about words that rhyme with "et." It showed a bird called the zet.

Awesome! For some reason I always remembered this as being an Electric Company segment, but I guess I was wrong.

Similar sketches did run on the Electric Company, complete with the same spooky early 70s synth music. Some of them are on the DVD collections.
