I remember first watching this video on "Hot Tracks", a video show hosted by Carlos DeJesus on Fridays @ midnight ( it competed against Friday Night Videos on NBC). He played the first Hip-Hop videos way before MTV even touched Black music, and waaaay before BET was even thought of.

NY Hot Tracks debuted in the summer of 1983 and was notorious for playing mainly hip-hop and R&B videos. BET debuted in 1980 and has been playing videos ever since. BET played the first Hip-Hop videos although they did'nt play much of it prior to 1984. Both BET's Video Soul and NY Hot Tracks played Hip-Hop videos before MTV did (Run DMC's "Rock Box" in April of 84" was the first black Hip Hop video played).
