  • Tlc commercial. Damn you spell correction

  • I first heard a bit of this song from a talc commercial (my 600lb life) and had find out who sang it. Such a great song.

  • Absolutely BEAUTIFUL :)

  • great vocal and i kind of like the video as well.

  • Thumbs up if your great taste of music brought you here, not Bones:D

  • @Lala18701 Technically speaking you have to have great taste in music to go look up a song you heard on a TV show.

  • i love rain and u made this on my birth day :D

  • i moved into a new house and being me started playing my guitar a ridiculous levels my new neighbor was not impressed and complained to the council i found out and knocked on her door to give her a stern shouting at but to my dismay it was this totally awesome and pretty girl over the next few months we got very paly she told me this was her fav song so i learnt it with the intention of playing it for her and telling her how i felt but she moved out before i could :(

  • this song sweeps me off my feet.

  • Yes, I heard this song on Bones.

It was the day after I found out I was pregnant by a man who took advantage of a situation he shouldn't. I sat in bed for three days numbing everything, watching TV and just waiting for an answer. So maybe hearing it on a popular television show isn't so bad--after all, they were the exact words at the exact moment when I was doing nothing but shutting everything out.

Appreciate music wherever it may be found.

  • When I get really sad and bogged down I listen to this song, cry, and then get over it. Thank you for creating this song so that I can have my moment of weakness and then try to make things better.

  • Met a girl, she told me of this song after knowing each other 2 weeks. I cant stop listening to it now. It hasnt gotten old after 100 times, kinda like my thoughts of her, they havent gotten old, its been more than a 100 times though, she hasnt left my mind since our first hello. We get a long great but the truth is, were opposites, and nothing will become of this. She opened up my mind and heart though, i will forever love her for that no matter what happens. This song is for you Regan....

  • Griffin and Phoenix ♥

  • I found this under love song search... And love is the only word that can describe it.

  • BONES <3

  • This is the song that I chose to have playing as we entered the church for my wife's funeral. She was only 46. Her beautiful white casket with three white lillies on top (one each for me and my two children) and this song are burned into my memory forever. In our lives there were "rows and rows of big dark clouds" and sorrow was truly raining down on us all. It's been seven years since that day and I know that she is still "alive underneath that shroud" in our hearts. Still missing you love.

  • @imageskj1 I'm sorry for your loss. My mother passed away at 55 and she still fills my dreams. i hope you and your daughters are comforted by good memories and the knowledge that even though she has left in some sense, in other ways she remains, and you three are not alone.

  • @imageskj1 Send you a huge hug.

Be strong, be faithful, be alive.

She's not gonna leave you, you know.

  • @imageskj1 Watching and feeling the suffering of my father, I reach out to you with support and empathy. My mother was 43, with five children, the youngest aged five. My father missed her every one of the 24 years that followed, visiting her grave continuously until he joined her in the next great beyond. As I thanked my father for his strength in raising his children with love and compassion, know that your children will do the same for you.

  • @imageskj1 Wow.... i wish i had your strength... good for you.... good for you

  • I hope Patty checks this site..some of the renditions are amazing...The picture with in this song has put a " ripple effect " in motion that inspires...few songwriters enjoy such praise as imitation.......

  • I love this video. So painfully beautiful.

  • Im so damn crying after hearing this song...

  • I heard her back when she toured with Lilith Fair. I first heard her when I was 13, I'm 26 now and I have been a fan since. :)

  • Found her via Sons of Anarchy soundtrack. It doesn't matter where you first heard an artist if you connect with them. But I do understand it can be annoying as I felt the same about Daniel Lanois and people only hearing of him via House. By the way, check out Daniel Lanois! ;)

  • Who cares how you know about her? It's just awesome that you do know her!

  • So damn sad, but still so damn beautiful...

  • Please check out first song ever recorded and made up would be great to some feedback!

  • Thanks to Robert Plant I discovered her.

  • I saw her supporting Emmylou back in 2000, and I've been smitten ever since :o)

  • I saw her and was blown over..

  • I've ridden in my dad's car listening to Patty Griffin, and I didn't really hear her until last November when my music teacher died. It made me cry and I STILL don't even know the words, but I will always love Patty Griffin's music.

  • I barely heard of her until I went to see Emmy Lou and Shawn Colvin in concert and Patty was with them(3 girls and their buddy) . what a bonus that was. Now I have 2 of her albums She is wonderful.

  • Thank's to Leann Rimes I discovered her

  • @Fennekit me too!! MPJ was great, don't you think?

  • i grew up on Patty Griffin! Maybe now I also love MCR and HIM, but I will forever love Patty Griffin also!!

  • i love her guitar style...

  • Her best song to me is Heavenly Day!

  • I was at a small Mathew Perryman Jones performance and he told me to listen to Patty Griffin! he said that she was one of the best singers he knows! :)

  • simple music, love it!

  • Is Best !! :D

  • magic!

  • I've been a fan of Sarah McLachlan for a long time now, but I actually discovered her by accident when I watched "City of Angels." Tonight I watched "Griffin and Phoenix" and several of the songs, including this one, were part of the soundtrack. Patty reminds me of some of her early stuff that was gut wrenching, soulful and deeply personal. I admire artists who are willing to bare themselves publicly by their art. I'm going to listen to more of Patty's stuff because her music is moving.

  • I want to buy all of her albums!

  • How can anyone not love this peaceful song that is shear genuis?

  • Anyone know where to buy this version of the song? I'm pretty sure it's not the live version on '1,000 kisses'

  • beautiful song :X

  • Znam z kości ale to jest takie piękne że musiałem wysłuchać całego

  • im confused. does norah jones sing this or patty griffin??

  • @cantusamator Patty This is from Patty's 1000 Kisses CD.

  • This is also on the Griffin and Phoenix soundtrack.

  • beautiful ,,,

  • definitely no my kind, but it's too nice a song.

  • am i the only person here that did not discover this wonderful artist because of a tv-show?

  • @Helenacore -- Nope, been with Patty since her days here in Boston and when Living with Ghosts came out. She's a legend in our own time, period.

  • @Helenacore A very handsome, romantic and lovely man played the 1000 Kisses CD for me. That's how I know her. I could play it ten times a day and never grow tired of it.

  • @Helenacore WOW CONGRATZ UR FUCKING AWESOME SORRY THE REST OF US JUST TOTALLY FUCKING SUCK.

  • @Helenacore i found her on pandora?

  • @Helenacore I grew up with Patty Griffin

  • @Helenacore don't be a hipster, the point is we discovered her. she is, really wonderful.

  • @Helenacore no my dear, you're not....... i've been listening to patty since the late 80's when i discovered her on rounder records along with cheryl wheeler et al...... mmmmmm .... twas the best of times

  • @Helenacore no thankfully there are a group of us. I just love Patty Griffin. I learned about her from reading liner notes on albums and seeing that all these songs I loved that others were singing were written by her. But if a TV show brings people to her music and encourages them to buy it I'm sure Patty doesn't mind :)

  • @Helenacore I'm ashamed that I only discovered her when Crystal Bowersox covered her Up the Mountain MLK tribute. I now have all her albums.

  • @Helenacore No I got sent the wrong cd on amazon

  • @Helenacore probably

  • @Helenacore why does it matter how you discover it? the important thing is that you discover it ! And you have to discover it somehow ..

  • @Helenacore Actually, I found Patty the same way. The same tv show for all I know. =)

  • @Helenacore dunno, i found this on a Bones episode

  • @Helenacore I heard her on wyce in michigan

  • @Helenacore lol i found her through sons of anarchy...God works in mysterious ways....

  • @Helenacore - I did not discover her because of a TV show. Quite a few years ago, I heard the song "One Big Love". I thought it was Sheryl Crow. A bit of digging and I found out the truth. I have been a fan since then. (However, my fandom solidified when I heard "Kites" on Joan of Arcadia.

  • @Helenacore

No, you are not. I found this song in a completely different way. <3 But what matters is that we have all been blessed by it's beauty. <3

  • @Helenacore i didnt, but why does it matter how you discovered it?

  • @Helenacore, I discovered her in 1998, when a friend dragged me to see her in Pittsburgh. Needless to say, I was an instant fan.

  • @Helenacore No, you're not the only one. I wrote 'Rain' in the searchbar looking for songs 'bout rain and I found that.

PS. I am really happy that I found her, this song is amazing.

PS2. No matter how you find her, you've to enjoy this song because it's beautiful, that matters.

  • @Helenacore, i sadly confess that i discovered her with movie Griffin and Phoenix ...

  • @Helenacore no, i just found her on youtube.....and loved it

  • @Helenacore My older sister was a huge fan of Patty's. Saw her preform a couple of times too I believe. She showed me "Long Ride Home" and I fell in love with this artist. I listened to all of her music and declared this song, "Rain", as my favorite.
