i moved into a new house and being me started playing my guitar a ridiculous levels my new neighbor was not impressed and complained to the council i found out and knocked on her door to give her a stern shouting at but to my dismay it was this totally awesome and pretty girl over the next few months we got very paly she told me this was her fav song so i learnt it with the intention of playing it for her and telling her how i felt but she moved out before i could :(
It was the day after I found out I was pregnant by a man who took advantage of a situation he shouldn't. I sat in bed for three days numbing everything, watching TV and just waiting for an answer. So maybe hearing it on a popular television show isn't so bad--after all, they were the exact words at the exact moment when I was doing nothing but shutting everything out.
When I get really sad and bogged down I listen to this song, cry, and then get over it. Thank you for creating this song so that I can have my moment of weakness and then try to make things better.
Met a girl, she told me of this song after knowing each other 2 weeks. I cant stop listening to it now. It hasnt gotten old after 100 times, kinda like my thoughts of her, they havent gotten old, its been more than a 100 times though, she hasnt left my mind since our first hello. We get a long great but the truth is, were opposites, and nothing will become of this. She opened up my mind and heart though, i will forever love her for that no matter what happens. This song is for you Regan....
I loved her from the moment I've never seen her.. She's always here, she's never out there.. I'm wondering: Who is she ? I don't know Where she could be.. But I love her, though! and that's all I need to know.. So "Thumbs up" fellas, that's all i want you to do.. Coz from the moment she reads this comment, She'll fall in love with me too.. And once she clicks to hear this song.. She will realise where she belongs... I hope she could find me...and I wish I could find some hope...!
This is the song that I chose to have playing as we entered the church for my wife's funeral. She was only 46. Her beautiful white casket with three white lillies on top (one each for me and my two children) and this song are burned into my memory forever. In our lives there were "rows and rows of big dark clouds" and sorrow was truly raining down on us all. It's been seven years since that day and I know that she is still "alive underneath that shroud" in our hearts. Still missing you love.
@imageskj1 I'm sorry for your loss. My mother passed away at 55 and she still fills my dreams. i hope you and your daughters are comforted by good memories and the knowledge that even though she has left in some sense, in other ways she remains, and you three are not alone.
@imageskj1 Watching and feeling the suffering of my father, I reach out to you with support and empathy. My mother was 43, with five children, the youngest aged five. My father missed her every one of the 24 years that followed, visiting her grave continuously until he joined her in the next great beyond. As I thanked my father for his strength in raising his children with love and compassion, know that your children will do the same for you.
WOW...I actually got this song from a live version I heard when it was realeased. Didnt know it came out on Bones.
This song and Lucinda Williams' Out OF Touch' came out almost the same time. So when I hear one I need to hear the other. But again Im local, so its easy for me to get their music. ;)
The episode is called "The Skull in the Desert" and this song plays when Angela is having a vision of Dani Weber walking in the desert. You can look up more songs from Bones on tunefind com

@Helenacore no my dear, you're not....... i've been listening to patty since the late 80's when i discovered her on rounder records along with cheryl wheeler et al...... mmmmmm .... twas the best of times
@Helenacore no thankfully there are a group of us. I just love Patty Griffin. I learned about her from reading liner notes on albums and seeing that all these songs I loved that others were singing were written by her. But if a TV show brings people to her music and encourages them to buy it I'm sure Patty doesn't mind :)
@Helenacore - I did not discover her because of a TV show. Quite a few years ago, I heard the song "One Big Love". I thought it was Sheryl Crow. A bit of digging and I found out the truth. I have been a fan since then. (However, my fandom solidified when I heard "Kites" on Joan of Arcadia.

@Helenacore My older sister was a huge fan of Patty's. Saw her preform a couple of times too I believe. She showed me "Long Ride Home" and I fell in love with this artist. I listened to all of her music and declared this song, "Rain", as my favorite.

@Helenacore
No, you are not. I found this song in a completely different way. <3 But what matters is that we have all been blessed by it's beauty. <3

@Helenacore, I discovered her in 1998, when a friend dragged me to see her in Pittsburgh. Needless to say, I was an instant fan.

@Helenacore No, you're not the only one. I wrote 'Rain' in the searchbar looking for songs 'bout rain and I found that.
PS. I am really happy that I found her, this song is amazing.
PS2. No matter how you find her, you've to enjoy this song because it's beautiful, that matters.

@Helenacore My older sister was a huge fan of Patty's. Saw her preform a couple of times too I believe. She showed me "Long Ride Home" and I fell in love with this artist. I listened to all of her music and declared this song, "Rain", as my favorite.
