Many thanks Mick for that information, I'll be eagerly awaiting the release of the album as Ive only really heard him sing a couple of songs here on youtube but he does have a great voice there's no doubt about it and the Bold Grenadier has become 1 of my all time favourite songs eversince I heard him singing it !! thanks again !
Al came to one of our blues/bluegrass gigs in Greystones last night and he gave me a copy of the new album. I listened to it on the way home in the car. Man, it's just superb. It's a 2 CD collection; CD 1 being studio recordings and CD 2 him live at The Cobblestone. It's beautifully produced with a glossy cover and a booklet. It'll be available on iTunes in early December but if you want the real thing and can't get it, let us know and we'll organise it for you.
YES FOLKS THE ALBUM'S IN........... AND WILL BE FOR SALE AT THE GIG. WE'D LOVE TO SEE YOU ALL. THE ALBUM WILL BE IN RECORD SHOPS FROM NOVEMBER 24TH AND AVAILABLE ON ITUNES IN THE BEGINNING OF DECEMBER. NIALL TONER PREVIEWED THE ALBUM TO MUCH ACCLAIM ON THE 'ROOTS FREEWAY' SHOW ON RTE RADIO1 LAST NIGHT (11 Nov 2008)
There has to be more in the archive. And his two albums need to be heard. i have the old vinyl copies. He's playing at the Cobblestone, Smithfield, Dublin, 30th August.
the germans always supported us in the IRA campeigns in the 20s and 60s and supplied us with arms, and they always seek our culture, sometimes even for than we do
this is one of my favourite irish singers. let,s hope this morsel will encourage more postings as he is not available on cd.i rate him so highly that i can,t understand why he is not far far more famous.

@WexfordBoyo18 What the hell does a song about a British grenadier have to do with PIRA, CIRA and RIRA terrorists?

Do you have a version of Al singing the Night Visiting Song?
jkeppel90 3 years ago 2
No, though it would be nice to here him singing it. The only other song i have Al singing is Spanish Lady.
machree01 3 years ago
Heard him singing it as a tribute to Luke Kelly on Ceili House in 2004. He did a good job.
