  • What do I "expect"? I "expect" him to stay the fuck out of the ring, unless he knows what the hell he's doing. He lost, then deflected his loss by talking about the troops?! LMAO! Nothing like a rousing chat of "USA, USA" to drown out the fact you got beaten in under 30 seconds!

  • @seattle0002 you ever stepped inside a cage before bro?? hes 40 years old it was his first MMA fight. Hes a legend and a warrior whose accomplished things it would take you 50 lifetimes to get done

  • not gonna lie, pretty surprised he doesnt have a heavy accent

  • @redneckstyle well you can hear the german accent.

  • Kinda reminds me of Charles Gracie.Same skin complexion.

  • THIS is the great trainer of Nick Diaz?! One fight on Wikipedia. Knocked out in 27 seconds?!

  • @seattle0002 This guy is a Jui-Jitsu expert. He's not a kick boxer. The fight never got to the ground. Frank knocked his ass out before any of that could have happened.

  • @seattle0002 he's an jiu jutsu expert,no stand up expert with no MMA expierence and he was 40 years old fighting a A prime Shamrock in his first and last fight ever, I mean what the fuck do you expect from him?

  • what about for once props for the irakis getting killed by the american mercenaries, thats something you'll never hear

  • get owned bech Gracies been turn into a bunch of pussys! cesar gracie now nick diaz they turned that shyt into a clown show Carlos Gracie could be disappointed.

  • His first-ever official MMA fight.. Like anyone, I'm sure he was nervous as hell. Just imagine it's your first fight and you're up against someone with the experience of Frank Shamrock. You have to give the guy major props for even taking the fight to begin with.

  • lol @ his striking

  • No matter the outcome of him giving MMA a shot, he's trained some awesome guys.

  • Great interview. Gracie's are legends in the game. He got knocked out, big deal. His family's accomplishments in MMA/vale tudo/BJJ have paved the way for millions. That cannot be denied under any circumstance. To the people talkin smack, ask yourself when was the last time you changed the standards for martial arts as we know it.

  • The best English speaking Gracie, he speaks very well almost no accent.

  • Mucho respect. He was not in very good shape coming into this fight, he is probably 20 lbs over weight at 185.

  • His English is so good!

  • I'd love to see cesar vs freddie ettish.

  • Really enjoyed his honesty.

  • He has a great MMA school which includes Muay Thai and Kickboxing.

  • I'm gonna be taking classes with him soon

  • This guy is great! Class act!

  • isn't it amazing, someone who has fought/trained bjj his whole life, when in a 'street fight' (his words) all his training goes out the window. that is truly amazing words coming out of his mouth.

  • yes i wouldnt expect him to say that either. but considering it was his first mma fight, in front of a huge crowd, fighting an experienced guy like frank shamrock, i cant say im that suprised. franks tough, cesar never had an mma fight before or after this fight

  • He has a much better attitude than the other Gracie's. The other one's are dicks. He seems more mature than them.

  • DUMB SHIT ...

  • That's a great attitude. Very inspirational man.

  • DUMB IDEA ...BUT GOT PAYED THOUGH

  • hats off to cesar!!! respect for cesar gracie for taking the fight!!!

  • Frank Shamrock evolved and added striking to his wrestling. He became an MMA legend. The Gracies stubbornly clinged to grappling. Now there are no successful Gracies in MMA. Some people never learn.

At least Cesar isn't cocky like some other members of his family. But I guess it's hard to be cocky right after you got KOed in 21 seconds.

  • watch roger gracie's fights... he looks pretty good in mma

  • a 2-0 record is too fresh to judge

let's see him fight the big dogs

  • Cesar Gracie is a great fighter and a great coach. He has one of the best Jiu-Jitsu academy's in northern Cali, and for the guy talking shit KILL YOUR FUCKING SELF!!!

  • Cesar Gracie is a great fighter: Agreed. Great Coach: Agreed. I'll also add his DVD set is right there with Bas Rutten's for the best value for your dollar. Fantastic instruction at a more than reasonable price...

But dude, chill with the hostility.

  • I'd like you to come to Cesar's school in Pleasant Hill, California and say that to his face. I'll give you $100!

  • lol thats true!!!!

  • cesar is a great guy

  • Wow! Talk about humble, they don't make too many guys like that anymore. At 40 years of age decided to take up a challenge with one of the best MMA fighters ever and totally appreciated his oppertunity!

  • Cesar Gracie is still a great fighter no matter what>and he is a great guy

  • This guy is really humble. Even though I think Shamrock is a great fighter, I think he should learn from this guy. Shamrock is a little too cocky.

  • good guy.

  • Holy shit is that guy a classy dude. He just made a fan.

  • YEEEEAHHH! THAT CLASS ACT IS MY TEACHER! he tought me the key lock yesterday! he is a funny laid back guy too! he trained the famous diaz brothers too, and jake shield

  • FUCK THE FUCKING DIAZ BROTHERS!- Tony Montana LOL JK.

  • LOL, yeah joke you stole from me, ya faggot, but its not a joke, fuck the diaz brothers....they are Stockton street trash! Come up with your own "jokes" you loser.

  • @ButterTheKing Since when did you put that comment down?

  • @MrPolskaDuma, I've been putting it on the the dirty Diaz's shideos for years! Don't play stupid, you little faggot, I'm the guy you stole it from. Come up with your own material, ok Mencia? Don't be a joke stealer or I'll sick Joe Rogan on your ass, you polltard.

  • @ButterTheKing Yeah.. GTFO.

  • @MrPolskaDuma, Yeah YOU GTFO, you stupid Pollockski.

  • @ButterTheKing STFU.

  • what a class act.

  • Cesar showed a lot of class in this interview

  • Frank Shamrock wanted to hurt Renzo using illegal strikes, and then he probably wanted Renzo to continue while he was injured. If knees on the ground were legal, Renzo would have ended that fight pretty quickly. He took Frank Shamrock down on every take down attempt. He clearly had the control on the ground. Heck, there were even times when Renzo probably could have put on a full mount on Frank if he had wanted to go that route.

  • theres no doubt renzo was winning that match. If you've been fighting as long as frank has you have no excuse for not knowing the rules. Even ken who's older and dumber can atleast play by the rules. I think Frank could've won without cheating, but I think he was trying to get a rise out of the gracie family, and have them all come after him like they did with saku

  • this guy has much more class than renzo. at least he didn't quit. renzo didn't control anything. he lost the standup and on the ground i saw him land one strike and attempted no submissions and never improved his position. a take down is only one aspect of the game plus you actually have to do something when you take a person down.

  • Yeah Frank F'd up Renzo. Too bad for the BS DQ

  • you guys are fucking retarted i dont know what fight you were watching but renzo controlled that whole fight. he took frank down 3 times and how can you say that DQ was bullshit frank clearly hit him in the back of the head on purpose renzo had him in side controle the whole time if they were allowed to throw knees on the ground frank would have gotten knocked out in the first round. frank just got desperate nobody wants to be in renzo gracies side controle

  • Except Marcelo Garcia

  • No one is ever in controll just because they are on top of Frank. He was on the bottom most of the match against tito and he still won! On the bottom or on his feet, Frank is in charge. And he definitely was in charge against easy ass renzo!

  • bull shit renzo was contolling him

  • cesar, you should be embarrased by Renzo's performance against Frank...it was truely pathetic

  • This guy has alot of class.

  • THE GRACIES MADE BRAZIALAN JU JITSU U MORON THEY DIDNT" steal the ju jitsu part and add brazialian" thats the most ignorant thing ive ever heard

  • finally, a down-to-earth gracie

  • sakuraba owns the gracies! hahaha! good for them. they stole jiu-jitsu from japan

  • Ha, exactly! They stole it and just added "brazilian" to the name. The only reason the gracies made a name for themselves was because they were street thugs who dishonored jiu jitsu by challenging anyone and everyone. It worked for a while but now everyone knows how to defeat it. Sakuraba proved that years ago. And now Shamrock beat down this bitch.

  • No, dimwit, they just didn't add 'brazilian' to the art. They added hundreds of modified moves that proved more efficient and effective. No martial arts is static. The Americans now are adding stuff to the Brazilian Jujitsu (like the rubber guard plus other submissions). Now, we even have a separation of training techniques between Jujitsu and MMA. It is always evolving. It's an art form, and so what else can you expect?

  • how do u know how gracie jj started. were u there when it all happened?

  • How do you know what you speak is English? You are a retard.

  • what kind of question is that. i smell an angry little man.

  • No, your stupidity does not piss me off. Rather, it makes so sad that some ppl have to carry on their mental handicap in their life. So good luck.

How we know about JJ's history is the same with hisory of other things. Records are out there, you big boy. LOL

  • wow ur hilarious did u even know what i was replying to. the other guy said that bjj started by brazilian thugs trying to make their own martial arts. this not being entirely true, i asked how they would know such a thing. yeah and ur comeback doesnt make much sense. so good luck with that. o and nobody is Laughing Out Loud so y dont u just shush. u dont sound like the type to be making fun of anyone's english.

  • get over it.. it's an opinion/statment

  • i never said he wasnt humble...but a mouth full of knuckles will humble most people...from what i understand, cesar is the one who challenged frank in the first place and was running his mouth about how he was gonna beat him and then he got knocked out in 21 seconds, that would humble me too

  • Shame he lost the way he did, but at least he came across well in his interview. Having owned a copy of his instructional dvds I hoped he would do better than he did, but that's life. Would still recommend his dvds to anyone looking to improve their BJJ. Is certainly the easiest Gracie to understand!

  • rapsody-not that you care, but he really is a humble guy. I train under him & if he was a dick I'd totally have no prob saying so. Truth is he's legitamately a class act, just not an MMA fighter. Check out some clips of his bjj DVD and you'll see where his strengths really lie. Oh & he just signed K. Shamrock to a multimil $ deal with the WFC.I'd say that's pretty humble...or just smart.

  • * F. Shamrock that is.

  • yeah, he's humble because he got knocked the fuck out..he's the one who challenged frank in the first place saying he was gonna beat him up so i'd hope he'd be humble after that beating he took

  • Unfortunately Rickson plays it safe and refuses to fight the many big name fighters that have repeatedly challenged him. He is defeatable if he stuck his neck out against these MMA monsters, even if he was in his prime. Cesar Gracie was a class act in this interview. Good for him for fighting someone great in his debut. That's balls.

  • Rickson has yet to get beaten, and he understands BJJ better than any other in the family...he is the family champion. Rolls was the family champion before him (before his untimely death). Royce has stated himself that Rickson is about 10x better than him.

  • Cesar Gracie is not even a real Gracie- I believe he married into the family.

  • exactly.

  • cesar is a real gracie; his mom's maiden name is gracie.

  • this guy is a gracie? no way, where was that invincible family brazilian jiu jitsu at? i mean no disrespect by it but if he was truly a gracie wouldnt he have beat shamrock? well w/e im just so sick of hearing of the gracie name as a unbeatable titan, the gracie's cant win everytime & beat everyone. i would like them to fight the strongest man in the world mark henry, hes too big & too powerful to take down. NO CHANCE.

  • First of all just because you are in the Gracie family does not mean that you have MMA experience. This was Cesar's first and probably last MMA fight. Second this isn't an over the hill Ken Shamrock he fought; this is his adoptive brother who was the 5 time undefeated middleweight champion of the UFC. Frank is one tough SOB and not a can.

  • Also if you watch the earlier UFC fights like number 5 Royce Gracie couldn't defeat Ken Shamrock a second time; they drawed. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was never invinsible; it is the most effective art but not invinsible. Wrestlers like Kazushi Sakuraba has done very well against Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

  • bdequinia-shamrock outweighed Royce by 40 lbs and basically layed in Royce's guard like a coward. No one including the Gracies ever said that BJJ was invincible.

  • yea they have, not those exact words, but basically yes. weight was not an issue, royce beat severn, who is heavier than shamrock, and basically tried to do the same thing, cept he got caught in a triangle.

  • If you think Mark Henry can defeat a Gracie or another experienced grappler you are mistaken. You don't even have to take him down to defeat him. All you have to do is take is back and get him in a standing rear naked choke with your hooks in until he taps out. If you think size and strength can beat experience and technique then you are misinformed.

  • shows how ignorant u are mark henry is not even a good wrestler a clumsier dan a muthafucker

  • lmfaooooo dumbass, ur an idiot...

  • yea so are u but nobody called that out yet

  • He didn't use age as an excuse, he used it as a reason why he got into the fight in the first place.

I don't understand why you guys are slamming him, not once did I hear him use any form of excuses. He admitted that his students were better, he admitted to getting a bit scared, he admitted to not being an MMA combatant... etc.

He also had a very good scope of what is important. Cage fighting is entertainment.

    Class Act.

  • does the gracie name mean anything in current mma anymore? 10 years ago yeah but now? and royce gracie ?

  • Yes it does. Everyone trains in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu now. They all use it. You have to if you want to be a good fighter these days.

  • Cesar is a class act. Good interview.

  • A very honest and humble guy IMO. He fully admitted he was out of his depth and that he approached the whole fight wrong due to his inexperience. He bigged up his own students who he considers to be better fighters than him and seemed to have no ego. the Iraq comment put the game of MMA into perspective perfectly.

  • A lot of the Gracies truely believe in that their techniques alone will get them over the top. A lot of it is ego. The world has caught up with the Gracies. A Gracie just can't walk in the ring and challenge anybody...ask Cesar....ask Crosley who just got his ass kicked by a MuayThai champion.

  • do you have that vid?

  • I was at the fight in San Jose and it didn't last long. No worth my money.

However, based on the interview he seems like a class act. He knows that he is not an MMA guy and gives props to our troops. I like fighters who are humble.

  • kinda makes a lot of fucking excuses. kind of have to be humble when you get knocked out in 21 seconds

  • i hear you on the excuses.

  • He normally trains fighters. Nick Diaz, Dave Terrell, Gilbert Melendez, and Jake Shields are all fighters that he trains. This was his first MMA fight.

  • never heard of him until this fight, did he fight in the past and was he active fighter ? (besides having that last name)

  • This guy does suck.He knew who Shamrock was and should have prepared accordingly. No excuses. This was his first and last MMA fight.See ya!

  • You try stepping into the cage to fight. It takes a lot of courage to do that; especially when you're fighting a former UFC champion who hasn't lost since 1997. This was Cesars first fight in MMA.

  • This guy kinda sucks...
