@ronzilla65 I believe that this doesnt work with ipod touches or iphones. So is your "mac formatted ipod" an ipod touch? If so this is why not because your ipod is formatted for mac.

I'm guessing the iPod has to be a PC formatted iPod correct? My Mac iPod also doesn't show up. Those others that've posted who say it doesn't show up, are your iPod's formatted Mac as well? I bet that's it and we're SOL.

@ipperdude maybe this helps: plug in your ipod in your pc. for vista: look it up on computer and open the device press alt and open tools in the top screen. open folder options -> view scroll down to the hidden button and click on DISPLAY HIDDEN FOLDERS and agree the pop up. now plug it in the ps3 hope it works. for xp you don't need to press alt.

I think you would have to make AAC copies of your songs so you can move them to your PS3. I haven't tried it yet but I think it would work. To make the copies go to iTunes, right click on a song and it will say create an AAC copy and I bet you could move that to your PS3

you can also put videos. just go to videos on ur ps3 press triangle on the ipod, then display all, and go to music folder. kinda hard to find them but if u go to every folder u should be able to find um.

it should recognize it, and then you press triangle and there's an option to show everything inside the iPod, have you tried all the usb ports on the ps3???

It's because your iPod is probably formatted with HFS+. If you have a mac it formats the ipods that way. PS3 is FAT32, and FAT32 does not read harddrives that are formated with something else.

Yep.. I just tried this last night. I couldnt get my iPod to show so I checked the internet yesterday. It said I had to hold down triangle button to get "Display All" but from the video, the iPod should at least show up in the menu under music.. mine does not. 40gb PS3.. not updated since it was bought 2 weeks ago. 30gb 3rd gen iPod that has always been connected to a Mac. The iPod worked great on my friends Xbox 360. You would think sony would get their act together.

i no how to get the names of the songs to show up. I kind if found this out accedentaly. Basically i got a new laptop and i was trying to find out how to transfers my songs from my old pc to the laptop. The website said i had to click on enable hard disk use in the ipod settings on itunes. Then i had to drag the itunes folder onto my ipod. Then the contents of my libary came up on my laptop.

it only happens, because the ipod sets the song names to what you saw. If you use another device like a creative mp3 player. It won't do it, because it stores the songs in folders that are named well and have all of the songs listed by their actual title.
