I personally prefer to boil the water first, THEN put the lobster in. When you do all the oxygen from there bodies tries to escape at once, and then it makes a screaming sound. It's less humane, but it is SO much more metal then just slowly boiling them alive.

Freezing them for 5-10 mins will not spoil the meat in any way. it will settle/numb the nerves making it easier to kill. the spine is the key. they have no brain or main artery.

What the fuck is wrong with you people? Lobsters didn't get much further than bugs in development. I don't see you going nuts over spiders or flies like this. Besides, if you crack the exoskeleton open, much of the flavor will go into the water and you want to keep it contained in the lobster. It takes them about 10 minutes to die - not much difference between an instant death and that. it's not like someone tortures them for months before killing.

Maybe it's more humane, but not as good a dish. You see, the water is salted and seasoned, so you want them there while it's still cold, so by the time they boil, they are soaked in the solution they are boiling in. If you drop 'em into the hot solution, they cook too fast and don't absorb as much seasoning. If you keep them in boiling water too long, they start losing taste as it goes into the water they boil in. My advice - don't personalize food, eat it, don't think about it

No one knows for sure if more vegetarians will yield less demand of meat and less killing. Plus it would depend on the animal, many of the animals we eat are considered exceedingly high in population or stable, like cows, fish, lobsters, etc. You should be mad at those who eat cats, dogs, whales, and other exotic animals.

I think most people would say because dogs are pets and pigs aren't, however I know there are people in the world that domesticate pigs and I know there are dogs in the world that are wild. Just like abortion and religion, the topic of diets is very controversial.
@xHolyPeanuts both are very smart animals. Infact pigs can be smarter in some areas than dogs. But a dog is a much more personable creature. They even want to bring pleasure to their masters. A pig won't have the same feelings of compassion to it's master(which is strange given their higher intelligence).

@jihadjared It'll all depends on how the animal is breed. If both the pigs and dogs were breed solely for food, then no one would care about how they give master pleasure. However if both the pigs and the dogs were breed to be pets, then I am sure both will be equally attached to their owners.
Since there are more pig farms then dog farms, they will give you an image of that dogs are more loyal to their owners etc. If given the chance, the pig can be equally good as pets too.
@xHolyPeanuts Also, people one the vegetarian and vegan diets ARE going against their body's instincts, the reason you are not dead is because you most likely take supplements for vitamins and minerals that your diets lack. Even if you don't take supplements, the lack of vitamin B12 for example will only hinder your thought process just a little bit, like you may get headaches more often, dizziness sometimes, indecisiveness, recollection and remembering issues, etc. All symptoms harmless.

um ok for the people out there saying they dnt feel pain. they do. no brain but they have nerves n neurons and a spine. grass does not. therefore, grass cannot feel pain. cells dnt have anything to do with feeling pain. They have 100,000 neurons, humas have 100 BILLION. but it is still painful for any creature with a spine. and of course, nerves.

What the fuck is wrong with you people? Lobsters didn't get much further than bugs in development. I don't see you going nuts over spiders or flies like this. Besides, if you crack the exoskeleton open, much of the flavor will go into the water and you want to keep it contained in the lobster. It takes them about 10 minutes to die - not much difference between an instant death and that. it's not like someone tortures them for months before killing.

I know vegans that will squish a German Cocaroach in a second. When America was first colonized, prisoners were fead lobster because they were cheap, plentiful, & looked down upon as "bottom feeders," so nobody else wanted to eat them. Maybe it's more humane, but not as good a dish. You see, the water is salted and seasoned, so you want them there while it's still cold, so by the time they boil, they are soaked in the solution they are boiling in. If you drop 'em into the hot solution, they cook too fast and don't absorb as much seasoning. If you keep them in boiling water too long, they start losing taste as it goes into the water they boil in. My advice - don't personalize food, eat it, don't think about it

@dnanalahcnap 1) There're a lot more people who eat meat than there are murderers. The meat industry doesn't go around grabbing animals off the street and slaughtering them. They pay ranchers and farmers for theirs, or they breed and raise their own. Also, those animals are going to be slaughtered whether you buy their meat or not. If you don't buy them, someone else will. If no one else does, then congratulations, that animal's death was pointless; now it gets to go rot in a trashcan somewhere.

@dnanalahcnap 2) Granted. However, from a nutritional standpoint, meat is the most sensible and practical thing to eat for the nutrients acquired from it. Meat gives the most protein per serving, followed by dairy products.
3) We were not made to shit outside, we were just made to shit. We have toilets because no one wants to see someone else take a dump, no one wants to smell someone else's crap, nor do we want to risk stepping in it. Same reasons people house-train pets, really.

@xHolyPeanuts Before I start, just wanted to say I'm an omnivore. Also I have some friends who are vegans and vegetarians. But think of my view as if it were "agnostic."
No one knows for sure if more vegetarians will yield less demand of meat and less killing. Plus it would depend on the animal, many of the animals we eat are considered exceedingly high in population or stable, like cows, fish, lobsters, etc. You should be mad at those who eat cats, dogs, whales, and other exotic animals.

I think most people would say because dogs are pets and pigs aren't, however I know there are people in the world that domesticate pigs and I know there are dogs in the world that are wild. Just like abortion and religion, the topic of diets is very controversial.

@xHolyPeanuts both are very smart animals. Infact pigs can be smarter in some areas than dogs. But a dog is a much more personable creature. They even want to bring pleasure to their masters. A pig won't have the same feelings of compassion to it's master(which is strange given their higher intelligence).
I'd never eat a dog, but I will rip a pig to shreds any given moment.

@jihadjared It'll all depends on how the animal is breed. If both the pigs and dogs were breed solely for food, then no one would care about how they give master pleasure. However if both the pigs and the dogs were breed to be pets, then I am sure both will be equally attached to their owners.
Since there are more pig farms then dog farms, they will give you an image of that dogs are more loyal to their owners etc. If given the chance, the pig can be equally good as pets too.

@xHolyPeanuts Also, people one the vegetarian and vegan diets ARE going against their body's instincts, the reason you are not dead is because you most likely take supplements for vitamins and minerals that your diets lack. Even if you don't take supplements, the lack of vitamin B12 for example will only hinder your thought process just a little bit, like you may get headaches more often, dizziness sometimes, indecisiveness, recollection and remembering issues, etc. All symptoms harmless.
