  • I don't want the U iiiiiinn myyyyy color! I don't need no U iiiiiinn myyyy color! Beeccaaaauuse I'm AMERICAN! Yeah! Woot!

  • omg.. too much of mr.Ross.. be yourself buddy !!

  • Hi Michael, first of all i wanna thank you for posting all these videos, and very compliments to you for your painting!

for the sky effect and others you always use a dry brush? or not?

  • You make painting easy and fun. Good video. Thumbs up. I could never do that with digital paintings.

  • YOU ARE FREAKING AMAZINGLY

  • is there another way to paint leaves and grass?

  • I love the sound of the brush!!! : )

  • ivory black?

  • @frilloz4: It's a black whose pigment is taken from ground, charred animal bone remnants (formerly from ivory, hence the name, but no longer because most ivory-producing animals are endangered). It's a cool, deep black where something like "lamp black" is a bit of a warmer color that thins more easily.

  • @captainthunderpants ah thank you

  • You explain and show the process really well. I didn't know about painting and your video helped me a lot. Keep doing them!

  • Not only do I love your paintings, I could listen to that accent all day!!

  • Do you clean your brush between colours?

  • @BaboonBaksideStudios I use about 4 of each brush I try to do my cleaning after I am finished most of the time if I need to clean my brush I will use a paper towel for a semi cleaning.

    Regards,

    Michael

  • @PrinceOF9Imagination Linseed oil is said to be the best oil painting. It is made from the flax seed crushing. The basic material is oil painting. However, linseed oil have not overcome the drawback is that oil will turn yellow, so the painting as much as possible to use restraint, not excessive. It can also varnish and turpentine mixed with oil color madewith good performance liquid.

  • @PrinceOF9Imagination: Linseed oil is used to thin your paint, helping it to mix better with other colors and flow better on the canvas. Turpentine can be used for the purpose, too, but linseed oil holds the pigment better.

  • hw do u clean da brush b4 useing it for a different colour?

  • please what kind of brush is that ???

  • Do you use a vehicle? and if so what and how much and how often?

  • It's almost like you've brough Bob Ross back to life, you just really give off that feeling.

  • @AshThePhantom bob ross wasnt a redneck le me clean m brush right quick! lol

  • I felt vague on my last comment, so, if I used acrylics, could I get the same look from the tapping technique for the trees? As well as the clouds, etc.?

  • 12 people don't like this ?

i wondering why the people dislike something nice

actually i know how to art but i like to see older people doing it because they know much then me or anyone else who is young artist (beginner)

  • wow is it really this easy?

  • I just started oil painting (I'm nineteen). I did one time in TN while visiting my friends relatives, but I am really getting into it. Thank you for your helpful information!

  • I'm used to painting with water based or acrylic, I recently got an oil paint set with 2 canvases, I want to practice with the oil before I commit to the canvas, what is a good (cheap) surface to practice on, would normal paper work? thnkxs

  • @Ibeatyou23 What I would recommend is Fredrix Canvas Pads they are cheap and are very similar to a stretched canvas.

  • can you please name each brush you've used and for what? thank you.

  • Must I use the new brush every time I put new color?

  • u`r awesome!! i love ur painting!!

  • your paitings are good.. and ur lessons are really helpful.its inspiring

  • You do paint a awful lot like Bob Ross. Watching him got me painting ;)

  • Yes it makes me excited too

  • who could honestly dislike this video >_>

Sn: I love the brush's sound

  • could you use terpentine instead of linseed oil?

  • @muhita16 yes it will take some of the oil from the paint as it thins it try this approach mix the turpentine with the linseed oil that makes a good medium.

    Regards,

    Michael

  • @muhita16 you make a mixture from 2\3 linseed and 1\3 terpentine, cuz from the linseed the paint dryes fast, and you don't need much terpentine cuz the paint will solute

  • This guy is painting a pretty little scene and yet there are comments posted telling people suck dick? What is wrong with people...

Beckham, the guy is just making instructional video to explain techniques to beginners not a documentary on his life's greatest work

  • Ha, wow!

  • what kinds of brush is your using??

  • hi michael

i wanted to ask, how do you clean your brushes during painting (i dont have a lot of brushes)?

  • @duieb I use a paper towel to wipe as much paint out of the brush as possible I use several of each brush so most of the time I do not need to clean them till I get through painting.

    Regards,

    Michael

  • @creativecolour

Hey, this is awesome! Thanks so much!!! :) I have one question though- when i paint on good quality heavy paper, I still get yellow stains on the reverse because of the linseed oil. Will it help if i use some kind of acrylic primer to prepare the paper before painting?

  • @saranya178 no it will still do it I have canvas that is older by a few years, and the backside of the canvas has yellowed from the linseed oil.

    regards,

    Michael

  • Never throw away old socks or wash cloths! Whether the mate is missing, or it has holes or whatever! Keep it with your supplies. My paint box never runs low of old cloths and socks for cleaning brushes.

  • Thank you very much for your instruction!

  • Best tutorial video ever!! Im going along with the instructions..it looks great!! I need to invest in more brushes though...i love bob ross brushes.

  • Your an awesome teacher!!! :D thank you very much

  • very nice ! easy

  • so beautiful

  • I wish I were you

then I wouldn't have to clean my brushes all the time!

  • what does the land-seed oil do? and where do i get them...how do i use them...

  • It's called Linseed Oil and it thins the oil paint. You can get it at most any craft or art store.

  • don't get that get odorless! thinner!

  • Use linseed oil or white medium to thin paints. Don't use thinners for cleaning. Odorless or not, they are extremely harmful. Use baby oil for cleaning (but don't use it for thinning paints)

  • interesting...........why then does bob ross wash his brushes in odorless paint thinner in every episode that he paints?.....as did bill alexander......is your suggestion based on an unfortunate personal experience ...or are you disagreeing with the great masters of wet on wet in general?

  • Read the warning label on the container.

  • i hope i didnt sound too condesending...that was not my intention....i am getting ready to begin painting and this is the first i have heard of such a thing...and like i said all the episodes that i have watched of bob and bill, they are cleaning their brushes with odorless paint thinner...and announce it as such...anyway just a little confusion....i certainly dont want to ruin my brushes...by the way, i have watched several of your videos, and they are VERY helpful...thanks

  • Is it a brush issue or a health issue? I've been using it since Jan and my brushes seem fine. My CRI uses generic lard after each class to keep his brushes; he's had student brushes for two years. I looked online and say no carcinegentic factors involved, so I didn't know. (I don't have my container anymore, it's all in the bucket).

  • Do you dry paint?

  • Hälsningar, hur mycket är den vovve i fönstret

  • I really love watching your painting techniques - also is very relaxing! keep up the great work!

  • should be painter!

  • in remembrence of BOB ROSS,you are a great panter, magnificent!

  • Bob Ross lives in all of us. It is a pleasure to see someone who has a bit of Bob Ross' soul. I say you submit it to a local coble tv station and even go for PBS. They just might pick it up. Make a series of 12 painting and submit it. Hey one never knows!

  • Thank you so much! Please do more!

  • any 1 wanna c my art on bobyard123

  • Wow!!! I love to see it... Tkank you.

  • Wow!!! Man, you rock!!! Congrats!!!

  • this is really interesting to see

  • podia ter legendas em Português

  • Eu tenho um DVD disponível com legendas Português

  • "Anyone trying this better get themselves some really nice expensive brushes. If you try to cheat and use cheap brushes it WILL NOT work"

Good art comes from the eye, the mind and the hand. Great artists can paint with toothbrushes, and often have, but then their art doesn't look like TV cookie-cutter paintings.

  • i think the reason why people do landscapes in their tutorials is because they teach the basics of painting. landscapes are able to incorporate many different paint strokes and brushes that painters sould know

  • Anyone trying this better get themselves some really nice expensive brushes. If you try to cheat and use cheap brushes it WILL NOT work.

  • really? how so?

  • Well it will work but not so well. If you buy expensive brushes like the Bob Ross series then the paint will work for you like a dream. The brushes work for you not against you.

  • oh ok yeah i have bob rosses brushes lol

  • Yeah, agreed. When I did my first oil painting I had cheap brushes from the store since I didn't have access to any thing else. The bristles fell off, got all into my painting, were ruined after the one piece, and... just didn't work great.

  • I love this style of painting

  • I never thought of using such a big brush... I must try this one...

    Thanks Michael.

    John

  • very nice ! easy tiqneaq
