I hate to say this but it's been a well known issue that African American actors and actresses are treated differently in Hollywood. Everything that African Americans do that could be deemed as having some sort of negative portrayal, whether on-set or off-set gets looked down upon. Reputation plays a role when it comes to roles because studios are banking on that actor's recognization to bank in at the box office.
