It looks like the occupants in the ‘ship’ (UFO) thought the warhead was armed and dangerous and neutralized it. We will never know for sure because: 1) it was a dummy 2) a public disclosure will never be made. With technology like that, they could ‘neutralize’ the whole planet if they wanted. The fact that they intervened to neutralize the perceived first strike of an ‘atomic’ attack tells me that they have a vested interest in our well being:  If not as our progenitors than for what reason?
