  • Most garden hoses contain significant (harmful) levels of lead. Check the label and ensure a lead-free (food grade) hose.

  • if i were a gang member in an apocalyptic situation... id kill ur sprouts, then ud be screwed

  • Shes yummy

  • QUESTION - so when bugging out , your going into the woods or forest ..what about bio-weapons? ww3? ...FACT - when you bug out, your dead!

  • I don't know if this is true or not-but I've heard Obama's new EPA nazis have limited rainwater collection in some states to 55 gallons per household at any given time. After that you are fined under a city code violation. My bet is that this is really happening, given Der Fuhrer's other "Executive Orders" that are not even laws, but are being enforced by low IQ zombies who drank the Kool-Aid.Anyways,after SHTF water is a life or death item and if Obama wants to take it-good luck with that!!

  • The irony is, western countries are the least likely to collapse in the near fututre. The media lies to you, making it out like there's gonna be a hurricane, apocalypse, world war etc. the reality is, its not going to happen and if it does western governments have the money to bounce back from "SHTF". People all over the world live on rain water and hunt animals on a day to day basis out of need not choice, you have the luxury of infrastructure and you play at being "preppers".Self Indulgence.

  • nice axe there...

  • A great way to shower is to use a black rubber bag, hung in any sunlight you can get, which warms the water. These are available on the internet, somewhere, I know a friend of mine, who lives fairly wild, has one.

  • Might want to add a small battery radio that covers short wave to your kit.

  • I feel for you, dude. It's a pity that women have a much lower threshold for letting go of their comfort zone. Real hard to find a woman with backbone, hey?

  • I tend to use a normal stove.

  • i got land-line and wireless phone's. :) so whenever my power goes out. i have 2 phones. i got 2 wired and 3 wireless. i got this cool flashlight, it has liek a handcrank and solar panel and radio. music, light, no batteries, its coolio

  • What's a blackoot?

  • Great job enviro. check out Survival Central net and subscribe.

  • was this a real survival situation or?

  • I like how he says "it's not potable" and then dips a pot in there.

  • @mrmilleniumproof those damn gay guys!

  • A few years back we had an ice storm that knocked out power for 2 months. One idiot tried to loot Wal-Mart - one. Everyone else pulled together. When it comes to solar storms and what have you, I really have faith in most people. We weren't holding hand and singing kumbaya either though! :)

  • Shara is pretty rad

  • i shat in your water!!!

  • a well. a small generator. 30 gallons of gasoline. iodine tablets. Rice, beans, freeze dried foods, salt, sugar, canned goods, condensed milk, pots, pans, satellite radio, batteries, knives, guns, ammo, gun cleaning kits, axes, files, blankets, flashlights, bows, arrows, broadheads, rope, soap, pillows, first aid kits, lanterns, seeds

  • @muzzleflash7 toilet paper

  • appearances probably deceive, certainly in this case, but these ppl seem too nice for a SHTF, looks like they so gonna get raped lol

  • meat from a pan Yum

  • wats p-hotatable?

  • You need a garden also go buy barbwire too and don't forget guns and ammo and lot of it..

  • You need a new camp stove.. Your water system looks great.

  • Where did you get the huge water containers from? I've looked on craigslist but they always hold diesel fuel and there is no way I"m using that.

  • Mike is probably hittin it

  • @1TacticalMedic proclaiming to be gay..... sounds like a such great cover

  • how come the rain water isn't good for drinking without first being boiled?

  • @magicmanofsteel2000 usually its coming off a roof and the roof has all kinds of nasties on it. if you can get a funnel system into a container, and you know the funnel and container are clean. your good to go right then and there.

  • @magicmanofsteel2000 rRain water does collect local pollutants from the air but as long as your local air quality is ok the rain should be relatively safe.

However letting it wash off your roof and letting it stagnate in a barrel for a month is really what increases the risk.

  • @ViolentKisses87 silver is excellent at killing off the bacteria.... It's the chemtrails and their secret ingredients that concern me...

  • @magicmanofsteel2000 google chemtrails for that answer...

  • Free Energy is real and its here! The Oil companies r doing everything they can to stop this

information. If you want a Free energy magnet motor , get the blueprints at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM , Join the

    revolution!

  • Have you guys looked into ham radio? Sometimes even the phones go down (We had that happen where I live a few times in the last few years)

Ham radio is a way to communicate (and it can be set up simply on 12 vt battery) and also a great way to gather "intel" on whats going on from other hams in the area.

  • Get a wind up radio you dick

  • That's cool that your wife is willing to play along. My wife would be a little tougher to convince. good stuff!

  • yay a hobo stove, I am a drooling dumb fan of hobo stoves.

  • Sarah is not happy :)

  • put the cam down and tap that bro....

  • I am loving this..on to part 3. By the way, I think toilets will be backing up as the sewage treatment centers shut down

  • You have a fine cat. She looks delicious! Keep her around just in case. She is enough to feed 2. Believe me, no one will be sharing their food. No matter how nice your neighbor may be, he will not let his children go hungry. So have a gun. Protect your food and belongings. Don't give anyone a handout, or meal. They will go down the road and mention what a generous fellow you are and you will have all kinds of people looking for a handout.

  • Excellent!

  • Youre trusting dude... Friend called mike! Alarm bells!

  • @MAJESTIC10110 Mike doesn't really care for the ladies if you know what I mean.

  • @envirosponsible touche

  • @envirosponsible homo?

  • @envirosponsible There is a song by the "Bloodhound Gang" called "I wish I was Queer So I Can Get Chicks"

  • @envirosponsible Thats what they want you to think.

  • you forgot about the 40 or so gallons of good/clean drinking water in your water heater tank

  • FYI if you need to use the phone in an area where there is a problem use the public phone.

  • I drink out of the toilet bowl on a daily basis myself. More guns and ammo.Kill food.Fish.A garden can be a livesaver too.I wish I had a fireplace.Im with your woman-bottled water is safer.I like to keep a lot of canned food and MREs and a couple of country hams around.I need a beer kit-everyone does.Yee haaa.

  • @ITSMETHEFLASH Ha! I love it.

  • If you live in CA, enron caused your blackouts due to price gouging of electricity.

  • First thing to do is eat the cat. Then worry about the CIA/CA chaingang national guard

  • Sprouts was one of the top food items on the list in Kurt Saxon's Poor Man's James Bond Survival series

    peace :)

  • @haansgruber I've never heard of that series. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for sharing that.

  • It's from the 80's and 90's Kurt Saxon died I believe. Not sure if the series lives on or not. I have searched for videos and books online. Not really much around when I did the searches. You guys had the guts to try it. More than we can say for most people. I thrive on these events for some reason. No government MRE's or assistance accepted here. We made sure we were prepared. In fact it's time to check the generators and fuel again. Hurricane season started 15 May.

    peace :)

  • You must be prepared to deal with roving gangs (MS-13, Bloods, Crips, KKK militia types, Over 2 million UN Troops are already positioned in most all states under the MJTF (Multi-Jurisdiction Task Force) and they will not be friendly. CIA works with the crime gangs and will contract Private security services to hire former felons (mostly from Calif pen), as a national security force. You must have security procedures, homemade weapons and knowledge how to use.

  • @tgambill I agree with you, on all points.

  • @envirosponsible: I will type out the plan that I have designed for the local area I live in, an apartment complex. The plan is how they will pull together after the three or four days of drama, crying, emotional crap and then the six stages wear off......to finally realize they have to organize to survive and recognize what resources are available. I can't show them now because as most average Americans have no clue they would not understand.

  • @envirosponsible problem with home fortification etc etc is that no house is immune to the most devastating attack of a regular olf molotov

  • @tgambill Yeah, but where do illegal aliens fit in? Who's side will they be on? Or are they really part of the UN MTJF forces, posing as construction and farm workers?

  • @ConfederateHandjob the aliens and specifically Illegal Aliens are being used as pawns. Brewer, who is a Mason (this is true as is Palin), set up the Illegal Alien law for intimidation and provocation of the Illegal Aliens in order to foment another cival war, this once again setting up another war in the near future. The felons are part of the MJTF not the Illegal Aliens. They (aliens) are led to believe that they will be part of the new regime and the American dream.

  • @tgambill Yup, right on all accounts.

This is why my strategy is not based on static defense, and making sure that I am armed.

Military enemies will be the one I will fear more than gangs. But I will evade both.

Gangs will not likely press an attack once you sting them, they want easy targets. Military gets resupply etc. Gangs don't. Any loss you inflict on a gang is permanent. Gangs are predators... Predators in the wild go for the sick and wounded.... If it fights back, they move on.

  • @tgambill Would also be good to have a safehouse in the middle of nowhere. Canada is great for that. Lands cheap when its in the middle of nowhere

  • raspberrybaggio@envirosponsible Excellent. Thanks for the info. I'm going to try and buy 5 more rainbarrels and link them to my current one:)

  • how do you keep your rainwater so clear? Do you have filters on?

  • @raspberrybaggio There's a screen on the top of the barrel that filters out larger debris, and the smaller particles that pass through that filter settle to the bottom of the barrel. It's by no means potable until treated.

  • ya but with the can shower , you do need coffee to wake up in the morning

  • @gasdorf HA! You're right. I was plenty awake after the can shower.

  • she should not be throwing out all that food in a survival situation. what a waste. the outside of the cucumbers have the most nutrition.

  • In a survival situation.....

You should be eating all of the vegetable.

Peeling the skins off as Sarah is doing, is not a good idear. You lose alot of nutrition that way.

    5*

  • Great video & project.

I did notice you have what looks like a garden hose acting as a feeder for your water tanks. I have recently discovered that standard garden hoses have a lead content which could leach lead into the water. Watch "watch?v=8CmZ_8w4WAg" for full info.

    Cheers

    Rick.

  • @rickvanman WOW! That's not acceptable. Thanks for sharing that. Are you aware of what type of hose is food grade?

  • Not sure of the actual 'name' per-say, but i'd imagine a google search for 'food grade hose' should reveal something.

  • cool vid guys.

I live in South France and last year after the terrible storms here we were without electricity for 4 or 5 days and without water for 3. As you can imagine the shop in our small town was cleaned out! We had a large wood burner, gas for cooking and plenty of water. On the last evening I had prepared a romantic candle lit dinner when the electricity came on!!, so we turned it back off to enjoy the meal! :) you guys should get a wind up radio if you like outside contact?

  • If this was real, you could bust open your water heater and get something like 40 gallons of water from it.

  • Dude, your wife is "spank". Nice to have her for end times. Thanks for the sprouts idea..going to research it now.

  • Just found your Video. Nice wood stove. May I advise adding a cheap water filter for the water out-let. It will filter out bugs and some dirt. Please don't dip into or uncover the containers, unless you plan maintenance.

  • Great advice. Thanks for sharing that.

  • You are a blessed man there buddy, I'd imagine getting Sarah to do this took some convincing LOL.

Man most girls I know wouldn't even consider doing this LOL.

Oh man.....most of us can only dream of a girl who would let their dudes make them go 5 days without power or household conveniences.

  • I am a blessed man indeed. Sarah rocks. She helps me keep one foot in both worlds, which I find to be a tough balancing act.

  • Is she using a stone cutting board your going to mess up your knives.

  • Sarah would be a "godsend" to any person ( man or woman) **** for her alone. It's hard having your partner waving a video camera in your face and asking "dumb" questions.

You should listen to what Burlisconi said about Haiti.. for them to treat it like a weekend camping!

    Great video.

  • Safety tip: If your wife isn't happy doing something, don't ask her how she's doing when she's holding a knife...

  • hahahah

  • side note: When you have a big barrell like that of water. Chlorine Bleach a couple of drops once a year.. or whatever the tank said.

  • oh, also I sprout alfalfa sprouts and mung bean sprouts, working this year on container gardening tomatoes, potatoes, bell peppers, pole beans, eggplant, squash and a few other veggies that can be grown either vertically or in 5 gallon pails since I live in an apt with NO ground around it.

walmart sells these LED camp lanterns with rechargeable batteries for $15 apiece which, when fully charged, can run for DAYS being used as your main lights in the evening. very helpful to keep on hand!

  • I went 3 days without any utilities once when our electric was shut off due to a gas main break. so we had no water or gas either.

I would recommend using the sink to urinate instead of the toilet, the urine goes straight down the drain and takes much less water to flush.

instead of a watering can shower, washcloth bathe and wash/rinse your hair separately in a small washtub, which the water can then be used for flushing afterwards.

    excellent videos though!

  • Excellent ideas. This is why I love YouTube.

  • Awesome video! I did the no utilities thing for one day only. I need to try it for 2 days now.

Is this the first time you've done the "no utilities" thing? It's seems pretty hardcore to go from zero to 5 days in one shot. Brave too!

I bought a pressure switch controlled water pump so I can easily fill the toilette tank or dispense water anywhere in the condo without carrying the cans around. My big water cans have a valve so at the kitchen sink you can get water with a simple twist.

  • 2. I envy you your rain catch system. Since I live in a condo I can't really be setting up rain barrels outside. I might be able to do some kind of stealth rain catch system though, By hooking up a heavy bag or something to the bottom of the gutter (near my unit) and running a hose to fill my bath tub, which is the closest thing I have to a large storage tank. I need to get some of those large plastic water bladders, Just in case. Being able to store a lot of water could come in handy.

  • this is really a good video. I applaud you both for this practice. Most people don't realize that when they realize there is a problem it is far too late to make the adjustment. Everybody practice and learn, just like everything in life, what this video shows you so when you do have to survive you wont panic. We need more videos on other peoples ways of surviving. Anyone and everyone needs to get involved on these tactics. =)

  • You might want to consider chemical disinfection over heat disinfection. You probably discovered boiling uses a lot of fuel.

  • That's a really good point. Using chemical treatment in the winter could be especially beneficial since the fuel may be used mostly for heating and cooking, not for making drinking water. Thanks for pointing that out.

  • I want Sarah in my bug out bag lol.

  • Get a pressure cooker for cooking. Uses less fuel for cooking.

  • That's an excellent suggestion. Thanks for sharing and adding to my shopping list.

  • Good work, I would suggest that you invest in crank or solar power lights, radio and something to charge your cellphone with. You need communications.

Also, I suggest you invest in a defense weapon. Maybe a pump shotgun or a .22 rifle. Don't plan on loving neighbors.

Also, firstaid a cut finger or broken bone can be deadly during this time.

Just friendly suggestions, good work and planning, your better off than most out there. Hoooah!

  • Very sound suggestions. I'm working on both right now-building relationships with neighbours and self defense.

  • Great Post. Love the comment good luck with the coming collapse. rotfl. That was great.

  • Hey, how cool is it that you left a comment! I really dig your channel.

  • That's a good point, and I have taken that into consideration. My approach is to be proactive and strengthen my relationship with my community. That said, there would be a need for protection. I'm not keen on guns though. That's my take on it, and I appreciate that others feel much more secure with firearms.

  • yeah, i agree with the other guy, a weapon is pretty well a must, plus a decent supply of ammo.....otherwise people will walk all over you

  • I agree with Yogi i have already told people that if my children or wife are hungry and i smell food cooking in the home there as good as dead. I have trained my 6 year old child to clean/load/shoot. I can with my family easily flank. Im not talking just a power outage im talking a lack of Government or civil unrest.

  • I'm beginning to agree with you guys on the gun subject. My reluctance has a lot to do with us turning on each other instead of holding the powers that be accountable. What a shame that would be.

  • Yes its sad, knowing the baser instincts of humans kinda dictates a self defense stance.

I've seen the ugly side during a "with out rule of law" situation.

The autorities will pull back their forces and work from a safer base of operations. And you are left to fend for yourself.

If you can depend on your neighbors, so much better, quarden off your area.

A lot of people think that the police have to protect them, this isn't so, their first duty is to restore order, protect command & control.

  • Most survival guides will emphasize some form of self defense. Depending on where you are, that is, what type of people are nearby, it may make a difference on how much to highlight the weapons aspect. After having experienced a societal breakdown once, it is unforgettable and forces one to pay more attention to defense. Someone once said that the veneer of civilization is very thin. Yes it is a shame but reality always is when discussing our modern age of non-reasoning.

  • Boiling rain barrel water is a good idea...I have a barrel and I never thought about it.

  • Rain barrels rock! Good for you for having one. It'd be a prized possession in an emergency. Thanks for commenting.

  • sprouts, that was a good decision. i woulda went carrots

  • I don't hear enough about sprouts in the emergency preparedness world. They're a super-food.

  • I would like to address a common mistake that i hear alot in and out of the survival community. once water reaches a roling boil, it is ok to drink. Ofcourse let it cool...

  • That's a great point.

  • Thanks for the encouraging words. Nice handle by the way.

  • Your comments are interesting re non-potable rain water. Here in Oz we have had rain water tanks forever and it is actually considered a better quality water than the town supply (dead bugs, bird poo and all)...... maybe it's just what a person is used to, (mentally & stomach bug wise?)

  • Well I've got a lot to learn, and the limited amount of info that I've been exposed to has been to treat all water, including water. So I wouldn't be surprised if rainwater is indeed potable, and would be delighted to learn that it is. Thanks for sharing that info. Any more that you'd like to share would be much appreciated. Chad

  • the user aaabenit says "when it comes to trying to tell others i have been made to feel great shame and embarisment. ive been singled out laughed at for trying to warn others and have been told by friends to stop doing it",

  • Very cool! This is the perfect way to practice and try out differend things that would make your life more comfortable in an emergency situation. 5/5

I've got to do this once with my family as well..!

  • awesome idea, I wish I was set up like this. I'm slowly building my kit, but its slow and expensive.

  • Thanks for the kind words. One of the most important aspects-water-can be inexpensive. Food-grade barrels can be purchased for very little, and retrofitting them is very easy.

  • i like the rain collection system. Thats a really neat idea, im going to lowes tomorrow and see what kind of stuff i can get for my own.

  • She is a cheater! Make her drink potty water atleast once! lol Your gf is really pretty if you dont mind me saying so. haha cant wait for the next vid.

  • Ha! She laughed her ass off when I told her that she should drink potty water. Thanks for that.

  • Great video yet again! I want to try this soon!
