It's weird how people complain about Rivale so much when I never had too much trouble with it in OGG even on the first playthrough (well it was a bit tedious draining all of his EN first). Was that due to having played SRW before or was it harder in the GBA game somehow?
GOD I fucking hated Ingram and the Rivale! All of the cheapness of a Boss Mecha, none of their weaknesses. This song never strike me with terror as the "Gate of Magus" did. Whenever this song plays and Ingram showed his smug asshole face, I just see red and charged blind while screaming my rage.
I prefer this version, the Alpha version doesn't have the "thump" than this one, even though I admit the song quality is kinda rough, but hey! it feel like playing old games! The Alpha version is to "smooth"

Funny thing about the R-Gun Rivale. The real reason why Ingram had this and not Astranagant was not because of some reason like how there should only be one Time Diver in the entire multiverse. But rather because the GBA couldn't paint Astranagant's black properly.
@SkeletonMan808 actually funny you mention SRWJ, a friend of mine found if you change the settings (i think color to "game boy colors" but i don't remember what he said he did), the purple mazinger IS Black, it's just shiny as hell, so apparently the purple mazinger thing is an emulation error on the sprite
or a design error fixable through emulation, only the japanese know.....
@darkangelcoty I just tried that, and I think the option to display GameBoy colours just shows how the game would look on the GBA, while with the standard option it shows the actual colours.
So then what about Galuin's perfectly black Gespenst that shows up right after beating the Rivale? Ok, it was more like a really dark grey, but still. I'm sure the Astranagant could've been a really dark grey.
There's something about this song...there's a ton of others that sound better, are better put together, you name it. But this one just...I like it a lot. I don't know why, when there are so many better ones in the OG games. It just...grew on me. It's weird.
You know, looking back on it...I kind of liked the R-Gun Rivale. It's grown on me recently. My only problem with it...it just isn't cool enough. I mean, all these other Boss Mechs...look at freaking Geber Gan Eden, it destroys galaxies! Sure, R-Gun Rivale has Axiom Cannon, which was cool, and gun slaves, but that isn't very many attacks.
So, honestly, I think Cobray will pilot the Dis Rivale, and hopefully, it'll be as freaking awesome as the Astranagant(s).
In the OG universe at the time, the weren't ready for Astranagant yet. They didn't have all the kickass super robots yet other than the Grungust and SRX, and the pilots weren't experinced enough. Compare it to Vindel's shadow mirror deminsion were they hadn't fought the Aerogaters before the Inspectors, and they got their asses kicked. The OG deminsion was ready for them, Shadow Mirrors, and the Einsts because of the L5 campaign. They are beyond ready now though, after OG 2 and OG gaiden.
I'm actually going to go back and do a take 2 of @3's OST and include all the songs I missed last time. It'll take a while though, so please be patient.

The Rivale was certainly no pansy though. It may LOOK that way (though I personally sorta like it), but it put up a damn good fight.

Cobray from @ universe already made his appearance on ps2 port of OG1.
