Canadian Internet Service Providers-throttling speed

This was happening to us so i went on speedtest. net and recorded it and I pay for 5mbps and only got 2mbps for two days and they ended up giving me 3 months free internet.

...throttled, and that she wanted to send a repair man. Some people are born DUMB, and one sat right there. She said that there had to be something wrong with my cables, connectors, modem, computer, etc. Not once did she say YES. Shaw is throttling your service.

The next day, my service began working. Nothing was touched or fixed.

In exchange for returning my service to the High Speed which I pay for, the idiots jacked my bill $4.

There are far worse dickheads out there than Bell. Shaw has throttled my speed down to STUPID for months. Internet connections are perfect, but my service has actually been such SHIT that I couldn't download Adobe X for three full days. It continued to "time out" and it wasn't my computer. God Dangit Rogers is as worst as bell in terms of billing......i am on the 175GB plan but i still somehow go over every month... I was on the 60GB plan for years with no prob but then my meter started going up and rogers wont say anything. My bills are crazy. I need an unlimited plan

the sole reason I have switched from Bell because of it's ridiculous bandwidth usage billing method, switching over to ACN was great. Now they are fucking around with it??? like come on, i can't even watch my favourite tv shows anymore because of the ridiculous speeds i am buffering at......speed test says everything is fine but downloading and even watching youtube is slow as hell. fuck you bell.

Bell is terrible, Rogers is better than bell for having customer service in Canada (at least) but they both still make torrenting impossible and a 60GB bandwidth is silly

From what I understand (this at least applies to my area), Rogers 'splits' the speeds you are paying for. While I am paying for 3.0 MBPS (40 a month, give me a fucking break), this is down to roughly 1.0 MBPS because they split the d/l and u/l speeds amongst a network. When I was with Rogers in 2007, I was paying for 2 MBPS and for a month, perhaps due to a bug in the system, I got an astronomically low 60 kb/s download in any form. That's 3 years ago, but little progress has been made. Ugh.

Basically, all of Canada's internet infrastructure (especially from the major ISPs) is shit. I'm with Rogers, and while it's stable (unlike Bell, though this wasn't always the case), they have the worst throttling bullshit IMO. Not to mention, the lame Bandwidth Caps are complete bullshit (right now you can get the "ultra-lite" which has a measly cap of 2 gigabytes a month...).

Our politicians do nothing while these greedy assholes milk us for all we're worth. Please laugh at us, world.

For rogers only p2p upload is capped at 80 kb/s and NOT download plus they clearly state that on there site unlike bell. Also if you have anything below Extreme then your upload will never be slowed down since your max upload speed will be less than 80 kb/s. So this is only for Extreme, Ext plus and ultimate. So if you have ultra lite, lite or express then you can't really complain about this. So way better than bell or any other ISP under bell network don't you think.

I'm sorry but if im fucking paying for a promised speed I should get it regardless of what i am downloading. I'm paying an extra 15 bucks a month for a higher speed but its completely useless because the only things you need that high of a speed for are throttled anyways. I have no idea why some new canada wide isp doesn't come along with no throttling. Everybody would switch.
