Since Im getting questions daily on my previous comment. My previous comment warned people not to go to the cave and talk to the guy too early. The main story quest will send you there eventually anyhow. If you go there too early it will simply skip some of the story. it will not screw it up. Ive finished the game on 2 different characters one i skipped main story by doing this part early. the other my character got sent to this cave anyhow later on.

He just becomes an ash pile, then the giant evil black ball guy appears again and you can join him up. Well that's what I did. Fuck the old guy

i cleand whole place and then i received key. When i returned to raldbthar the bridge was once again closed, cogs jammed but there weren't bones anymore so i couldn't unblock them this time. I'm really pissed off couse i can't get to the mechanism. does anyone have same problem?

@eFaKaUdwa That's a bad bug from Skyrim. If you cleared Raldbthar all the way through and used the last exit in the ruin then the whole dungeon resets. Tthe bones are supposed to be there for the reset as well, but since it's a bad bug then I don't know what you can do about it. I exited the dungeon by walking all the way back to the entrance since my friend warned me about it lol.

@wtbriann many thanks for fast answer, still it's pretty annoying. On the other hand it's good reason to play once again :) i've managed to get to the upper exit through the rocks next to the main enternance (i've almost freaked out doin this) but the gate was closed too facepalm :)

Glitch: After the quest read the book then drop it without closing your inventory. You can pick it up again (when it should have disappeared). Pick it up again, put it on a book shelf in your house. Tell a friend to pick it up, take it from them and you can read it again. Rinse and repeat for infinite skill level ups.

WARNING!!! if you do this too early on in the Main quest line you risk skipping a large portion of the main quest line. You will come to this part during the main quest line eventually.

No im saying if you go into the guys cave north of winterhold and complete his quest it will skip a SMALL section of the main story quest. You will be able to continue from a later point in the main quest. It has nothing to do with the Mzin ruins. It has to do with going into the cave north of winterhold and talking to the guy.

Uh i havnt played skyrim in a couple months but just keep doing the main quest untill AFTER the part where you get sent to talk to a guy in winterhold mage college. the guy in the mage college will send you to talk to the guy in the cave at some point. then your in the clear.

*Facepalm* I went in this dungeon after I did the Dark Brotherhood mission that is in it, exploring... and found Machines in an Elder Scrolls game. Wasn't expecting that.

Especially the... ten foot tall... terminator-like machine near the end... O_o
