The doctors that use this type of testing say that 95% of the test have led to human medication. The anti-testers say that nothing good have come out of monkey testing. The truth probably lies somewhere in between. The sad truth is that as long as animal testing produces a profit, there will always be someone willing to do it.

Animal research is not science. Thousands of people are killed yearly due to mistakes from animal research. They are not our models. This is simply a bad, archaic habit that has perpetuated itself and is very profitable. If all qualified researchers would instead work with human patient volunteers or do population studies, etc., human health would benefit dramatically. No more inaccurate animal models leading to uninformed, dishonest human experimentation and resulting injuries and deaths.

@1221solstice2012 In my private lab, I use the monkeys that have fallen, been in fights, etc. My labs have no cages, just sleeping boxes. I have one sweet little macaque that had her spine broken. She is up walking about 1 hr. a day now. I also have a little macaque about 2 days old, that was attacked by the new alpha male. While he lost an arm and eye, the female is showing some interest in him. Maybe he will have a mom after all. All labs are not evil, and with some, it is science.

@Ihateverminmonkeys You have a god complex, seeing yourself as this kindly lord and master over these animals, whose lives you own, tinkering with their DNA, potentially endangering other lives, and so on. A charitable veterinarian is one thing, treating injured wild animals and releasing them back to their natural lives, but you're using them for profit. Only human results apply to humans, working with informed human patients is how to do medical research.

When it is finished, if it is in my lifetime, I will give it to anyone who want's it. I have enough money for my own use, what do you need more for?

I believe you have a sour taste from some place in your life and tend to believe everyone is like that. There are some people that don't treasure cash as you believe all people do.

@1221solstice2012 Safe to say we will never see alike. You will always have some strange answer, even if proved wrong. I wish you the best in your life. I have heard the same argument from people who are more interested in being right then any actual advance in the human condition, no matter how many holes their argument has in it. I just say animal test do not have to be agony to the animals. I will keep my own consul on how “destructive” healing an innocent creature is.

@1221solstice2012 Furthermore, the whole reason I set up the island is to stop any possible contamination of altered DNA from escaping. You should have been able to figure out that one. Perhaps if I do have a God-complex, I picked it up working with other Doctors over the years. You are flawed in your statement thet only human results apply to humans, and there are many cases over the years as proof. Sound like to me you need to be superior to everyone else. Kind of sad to me.
