  • Norman Bates looks a lot like Andrew Garfield

  • busta ryhmes

  • Thumbs up if you think the best part is between 0:29 and 0:35!

  • My mom was born in 1960.

  • im watching this in my film class but, what other film was this used in? it sounds soooo fimiliar

  • @ryann45, not one, but about 100 000

  • @cyberneticchaos any popular ones in general?

  • @ryann45, mostly cartoons, but forgot their names.

  • @ryann45 In the Simpsons, when he gets lost in the woods and see Mr. Burns glowing. The X-Files chapter.

  • @ryann45

may be familiar from Busta Rhymes Gimme some Mo

  • Norman Bates is kinda hot.

  • @InsidiousRuin2687 I think janet leigh is hot

  • @MyFlorida7 i thought the sister in the film was hot...

  • @ryann45 they both we're drop dead gorgeous, anne heche or whoever played marion in the remake also was

  • 0:48--0:58 Hitchcock broke one of his own rules about "the fourth wall" when he has Norman look straight at the camera.

I suppose this shows he was capable of change from his former dogmatic stance.

  • 0:30 gimmie some mo.

  • @Hydro2oo9 LMAO.

  • Apparently, this theme was the inspiration for "One Winged Angel".

  • Two best movie themes ever, IMHHO: "Psycho" and "Jaws!" Neither movie would have had the impact they did without their soundtracks. Notice in "Psycho" how the frantic theme starts the moment Janet Leigh's boss sees her fleeing town in her car, when she was suspposedly home sick with a headache. From then on, the suspense began and kept builidng!

  • @atlmuscleman Yeah, they played the theme at the exact best time, like that part. I was truly taken by that, you see i'm 15 and watched it first today. It was better than alot of todays horror movies... Wait, it's the best of the 2000's... almost. Only the 70's and 80's horrors can prove better than this movie.

Though Psycho is the father of all slahser movies! Thank god we had Hitchcock!!

  • Dammit anyway. Why can't I have such a gloriously evil look like at :50? :-/

  • Norman bates!!!!!!!!!!!

  • psycho

  • Just found them. Also try to watch Mel Brook's film "HIGH ANXIETY" especially the shower scene. If you've never seen it, I'm sure you'll find it hilarious. I'm just about to search for it myself!

  • I like to see the original titles with this fabulous music

  • goosebumps

  • Good scary stuff!

  • 'A walk in the shadows' is a two minute tense short revolving around Harry murdering his girlfriend as she found out his dark past, little does he know she has already told others.

  • ...que miedoooooooo!!!

  • hitchcock is a scary man !

  • Hey guys, we've made a new rock song about this great film, as well as songs about other awesome films such as The Wicker Man and The Departed. Please take some time to listen to some of our stuff :)

  • at 0:50 if i remember correctly thats the killer plz reply if im wrong or right havent seen the movie in a wile and i think its him

  • busta rhymes - gimme some more

  • @thekillingjimmy

... exactly man.. that song ruined a lot of my nights when i was little and still did up untill an hour ago when a guy linked me to Busta's song.

  • @zouwie133 lol

  • What if someone died while listening to this

  • At about 35 seconds, it reminds me of one of the songs played in E.T.

  • @sparks199 It's the lyrical bicycle theme! I get this too it's annoying me haha

  • @GeorgeChopin1849 Haha so it isn't just me!

  • REAVE SHITTY WOK ARONE!!!

  • This movie still rocks!

  • Editing backround music cut shot super

  • I have this song on my iPod. It's fabulous.

  • Okay, this is a serious question. I have never seen Psycho, but when I stumbled across this song on a CD, I can hum this melody verbatim. Where else would the whole song be used? It's not from a sample- I somehow know this entire song.

  • @lemonade17 Have you ever seen Re-Animator? Although it's not absolutely identical note-for-note, they did re-use/homage the Psycho theme as the RA theme.

  • @Mickleditch1

    yea,it sounds like it!

  • I wonder if Bernard Herrmann ever heard his own music in his head and got freaked out walking around corners.

  • @429jmazer sorry i meant to thumb up but i thumbed down by mistake :L

  • This my ringtone when my mom calls.

  • @PockyAndCoffee HAHA! really? thats so funny!

  • @PockyAndCoffee Too funny!!

  • If you have a pshyco X, use this as their ring tone.. while hearing it.. PARY she/he is not at your front door... or staring through your window.. or even worse.. IN YOUR HOUSE!!! But I love this theme

  • crazy motherfucker @ 0:56

  • GO GO HITCHCOCK! I LOVE THAT SONG!

  • Chuck Norris walks into a bar and orders a strawberry martini.

    *music starts*

  • this theme is one of the best ever!

  • @TheMegaAhaaaa that's why Busta Rhyme sampled it!

  • I actually saw the original score for this in person! It is at the special collection at my university's library. So astonishing!

  • most famouse horror movie ever made!

  • please dont diss old al. Us Hitchcocks dont like it. oh and please dont use our name in songs cause you think no one cares...well yeah we do. thx

  • @Mitchcock1315, what?

  • @cyberneticchaos some people dis-respect my name and stuff by saying it in the wrong context thats all. I t just makes me mad.

  • @cyberneticchaos you should have credited bernard hermann instead of hitchcock.

  • @TVVorld, yeah. I agree. But I'll credit Bernard Hermann in the more info.

  • love that part @ 0:30

  • I feel like the 0:30 - 0:43 segment has been used prominently in the score of some other film/television programme (other than the Re-Animator theme), can anybody help me out? I'm really hoping I haven't just heard it in the background of some horror film related clip show.

  • @PaddyTV

Busta Rhymes used it for the beat in "Gimme some more"... :D

  • hitch cock xD

  • youtube.com/watch?v=rxLglN9x8fA

  • @magicbougherra

Yeah flip mode, flip modes the greatest! @ _ @

  • 0:50 best evil smile ever

  • Psycho...brilliant film, great score.

  • the guy at 0:05 cpeeps the shit out of me. im fuckin shivering.

  • @lakobadmitry746 I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight with that image in my head.

  • 7 People are scared of the Movie.

  • @TheMeisterManuel

I AM scared of the movie, how couldn´t I, the music is so grueling and intense. I still liked the video. :)

  • People dont give enough credit to Robert Bloch for CREATING such an amazing story for Hitchcock to work with.

  • Three people made this film so great.

Robert Bloch for creating the story, plot, and characters

Alfred Hitchcock for adapting te story and the camera angles and the lighting and everything.

And Bernard Herrmann for this great score.

  • 7 people were murdered in a shower

  • Gimmie some mo'!

  • You gotta be fhukkin' crazy if you create this :S

  • @SavageColdness, well I'm mantaly-balanced. You gotta' be fuckin' ignorant to post a comment like this.

  • @cyberneticchaos Neh, I can live with myself. I was not talking about you, I was talking about the componist that made this song fhukkin' dumbass

  • @SavageColdness, well, not everyone can interpret it that way, fucker.

  • @cyberneticchaos Next time dont be angry so fast dumb fuck,:D Friends?

  • @SavageColdness, no worries, fucker.

  • @SavageColdness its a composer not a componist, fuckface

  • @sezme1000 Dude, im dutch, and in dutch its a composer, so dont nag fucka.

  • @SavageColdness You probably already know this, but the music in the film has only string instruments, nothing else. Kind of....unsettling, isn't it.

  • @ustink0815 Thats idd kinda what i ment, it gives the intention your being chased by a fhuckin' psycho, and you gotta be crazy of you come up with this?

  • lol face on 1:40

  • @Blade14000 have you ever seen the movie

  • 1:00 YA NIGGAS HAD ENOUGH, GIVE SOME MO

  • i share a birthday with hitchcock! :)

  • Unquestionably, the most recognisable film score in film history.

  • @brabazon10 no, the Jaws music is more famous, but psycho is number 2.

  • @brabazon10 What about Star Wars? Or Indiana Jones.

  • @brabazon10 for sure!

  • busta ryhmes give me some more

  • Why are all three holding eachother in the same picture? She dies before either of those two come up to go find her =/

    Weird photo..

  • @YinsShadow, dude! "She dies before either of those two come up to find her" +1 :D:D:D

  • @cyberneticchaos Did that comment go through? I was having errors posting. sorry if it seemed like spam.=/

  • @YinsShadow It was publicity photos. Just to advertise Psycho before it came out in cinemas and Hitchcock didnt want to give it away that Marion was killed in the shower.

  • @YinsShadow

If you were the director, you wouldn't want the audience to suspect what's going to happen in the movie before they've even seen it, now would you? Therefore, there's nothing weird about the poster.

  • We saw this film class this last week, and it was damn good! I admit my shit was flipped during...that one scene with the stairs.

  • @MikeIronweaver56

The way you Americans use the language. The verb in your second sentence!!!

  • @lesgrimshaw ...Alrighty then.

  • they play this all day at dorney!! its sooo annoying :/

  • 6 people aren't best friends with their mother.

  • please give me a download please

  • the 6 who disliked this video were stabbed to death in the shower

  • Tony Perkins was great in this movie (he doesn't get enoutgh credit). Can anyone forget him fidgeting around as the car sank in the swamp?! Aren't there swamps in the back of all roadside motels? How convienient! How hot is Janet Leigh in this movie?! Hitchcock was overtly sexual in most of his movies, and he loved the blondes.

  • Genius

  • This is a wonderful theme song, one of the best from his movies, but I like the one from Vertigo a little better. Both are amazing.

  • I Feel so sorry for norman just lonely and needs help :( poor baby oh yeah Tony perkins is one hell of an actor!!xxx

  • Yes, i agree. Alfred Hitchcock was brilliant. His organization and insight was profound. For example, he filmed `Psycho` in black&white but `Rear Window` in color. As another example, Mr. Cassidy. I think that he represents the `vices` within people. And the policeman (who we`re supposed to trust) telling Crane that she should have gone to a motel, "..just to be safe..".The rain and the sun, the night and the day, in all the right places. Amazing.

  • @iDreamOfJulia The book is a novel called, what do you know?, "Psycho" by Robert Bloch. In it, Norman Bates is not a creepy old man; he is a pudgy, middle-aged man with a drinking problem. A great example of Hitchcock's brilliance came in his casting young, handsome, charming Anthony Perkins who does pretty the same things that Bates does in the novel. Only movie audiences somehow accept it because he is "handsome and charming." What does that say about human nature?

  • @UncleCharlieOakley In my opinion, because Norman suffers from a "split personality," we're taught "not to judge" or, at least, "TRY NOT TO judge a cover by its cover."

  • This is always going to be the best horror movie all time!!!!!

  • In my opinion, THEE GREATEST SLASHER FILM AND GREATEST HORROR FILM, in general, EVER or EVER MADE-and my PERSONAL FAVORITE SLASHER AND HORROR FILM OF ALL TIME, as well!

  • Himno!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This film is incomparable. Half a century later, it's a masterpiece.

  • If Bernard Herrmann had only written this music, he'd still be remembered as a genius.

It still gives me chills, 40 years after I first heard it.

  • If Hitchcock haden't become a director, he would be a serial killer

  • @frodo94 His "relief of pain" .

  • If I could actually play any sort of stringed instrument, I would love to learn how to play this song. <3

  • With all due respect for Hitchcock's artistry, credit should really be given here to Bernard Herrmann, the composer of this powerful sound score, and a frequent Hitchcock collaborator. This is, more specifically, Bernard Herrmann's Psycho Theme.

  • @marcgibsontube, dude, by "Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho" I mean his movie. If you haven't noticed "theme" is in brackets. That means that it's the theme of the movie, duuh.

  • @cyberneticchaos Thanx 4 posting one of the all time great movie themes. It's a shame when people want to show off what they know (who's theme it really is) when it's not even applicable. Hitchcock was the master of suspense, beyond a "shadow of a doubt"..

  • @cyberneticchaos dude, ur bare insecure, u fuckface. anything anyone says, u get all insecure and think they are insulting u. man, u weak, paranoid fucker, go suck on ur mums saggy tits

  • @useshifilms, well, you're wrong here. I don't reply on every comment, dumbface. I'm not paranoid, I'm just sick and tired of ignorant shitheads like you. :) And if you ask why you're ignorant. You're ignorant because of the fact that you didn't know the true reason why I argue with people, or the reason why I reply on some comments. You just go and write bullshit information, without even paying attention on my replies's content. Just listen to the goddamn song and stop judging me.

  • @cyberneticchaos hahah, i knew u wud reply to me. ur so insecure. surely, the way to prove me WRONG, wud be not to reply to me. but by replying to me, u have just proven me right that u are insecure and that u do reply to whatever anyone says! fuckface....why do u drink ur mums tit milk and cry to urself.

  • @useshifilms, can't you be anymore creative with the cursing? Dumbfuck, you're a real philosipher. I gotta give you a point for your geniously structurised comment. Idiot...

  • @useshifilms olol you have 2 much time, seriously get a life. PS: I´m waiting for your AWESOME answer!

  • @ueberdruff your right, i dont have a life. your mum sucked the life out of me, when she sucked my dick dry!

  • @marcgibsontube hermann said hitch never interfered with him let him write what music he wnted to

  • @spacepatrolman it's good that he added the music because with out it the movie would be less good

  • @abc12319525 bernard hermann had a joke about that he said some producers egos were so big they thought they could make a movie without music a producer said if your in a lifeboat in the middle of the ocean where does the music come from ?he said were does the camera come from?

  • @spacepatrolman thats awsome!

  • mmmhh... Re-Animator...

  • antony perkins is the best in this movie

  • i'll play this if my gf cheats on me and ill stalk her partner and kill him in a shower.

  • @rhyno4eva oh cool XD

  • This is the best version of the music on YouTube right now.

  • @OrodesIII, what gives you that idea?

  • @cyberneticchaos

It is from the soundtrack unlike the others which are recorded by other orchestras.

  • @OrodesIII I agree. This is the original version from the film; where did you get it? I've looked on Amazon and can't find this version anywhere.

  • @DataLady09, I got it from Emule. If anyone wants it, I can post it.

  • @DataLady09, I got it from Emule. If anyone wants it, I can post it for download.

  • @DataLady09 I found it at a local half-price books for 1 dollar

  • @DataLady09 I have a double CD of most Hitchcock themes, including this one...it has a bloody drain on the cover. Dunno the record company who put it out though--I'll check. Bought it for this theme, which makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up every time I hear it. It actually has a few more movements, e.g., the murder 'stabbing'. Bernard Herrmann is a genius! Imagine this movie without that music.

  • Alfred Hitchcock Stephen King Vincent Price

     The Kings Of Scary

  • hasn't this been in one of Friday the 13th movies?

  • So fuckin' awesome :)

  • the had watched this film yesterday... i just got one word to say: awesome!!!

  • Comment removed

  • You're kidding, right?

  • @seanpkd30 wow...failure. EPIC failure... haha!

  • Alfred Hitchcock rulezzz...:>

  • epic osng :D

  • BrILLIaNT HiTcock Movie:ScaRRy !!!

  • HAIL HITCHCOCK indeed

  • Does anybody know, how the sequels are??

    Are they good?

  • I know. The first one was great. The second wasn't bad, but the forth... well, it wasn't connected with my taste.

  • why the sequels, just leave the classic one

  • :0.50...one of the scariest moments in film history...and it was that face that sealed anthony perkins fate for ever being anyone other than norman bates

  • Hahahahh, that was strange, but good.

  • @purplerocks666

great moment was the quick subliminal flash of the skull over his face..... fucking brilliant - writers/directors need to take some serious lessons from the master.

  • @DJX187 I agee! What's your opinion of the psychiatrist's explanation of Norman's behavior (at the end of the movie)?
