what do you need to be a train driver in this country (u.k.) or in south africa anyway? becouse i would like to do that too as i'm also from durban, specifically clements avenue, the bluff!.
Narrow gauge railway - the fastest narrow gauge in the world is the tilt train in Qld (Australia) at 160kph. I can sort of understand why they are limited to 90kph as any higher gets rather uncomfortable on a narrow gauge.
Auckland never gets above 80kph with its DMU's or diesel loco hauled rubbish. :(

It used to be 90 kmh but was reduced to 50 kmh recently because of the poor condition on the whole Durban-Stanger-Durban corridor.
