I so loved this show but this episode is a prime example of why they needed the Speed Round. I know I'm in the minority but I always found ditzy Sally amusing. Lee and Summer were very bland.
Thank god the speed round was put in. This final format was not at all exciting. I must tip my hat to the contestants for keeping things positive and answering the questions
@M200XL and I loved how Jim Perry said at the end of one episode under this format that he literally said "Oh the hell with it!" before he read the last $5 question.
And now I know for sure that the game doesn't automatically end whenever the champion is out of reach of one (or both) of the contestants (or whenever Jim Perry decides to end it, as in the case of Kathy Riley).
This was in an era when virtually all shows had at least one female contestant on every show. Exception being Joker's and Tic Tac would be all male if the game took the whole show, and Joker's at that time usually played at least a game/bonus round and a half.
First of all, could Sally look more ill at ease reading a teleprompter? I mean, she barely moved a MUSCLE. Also, some of the instant bargains... not exactly THAT tempting, I mean... A MIRROR?! Unless you're Narcissus, I don't think anyone male or female would risk dollars for a prize like that. It's also nice to see ALL MEN playing Sale, after the overly effeminate tones set by the failed Sale revival, Temptation a few years ago.
Was early 1984(March I think) when they added the speed round. Most of the time the game was decided before these three questions at the end. Barbara Phillips did manage to answer the last three questions on her last day, the last question of which gave her just enough for all the endgame prizes and the cash jackpot. She only needed $26 for the cash jackpot, but needed $116 for the lot and got $604 and won it all. Djdustman I think it was had an audio clip of that moment once.
@zachhoran - yes March 1984 was the 1st time the then-new Speed Round debuted. And when the Speed Round 1st came, it was originally 90 seconds as opposed to 60 seconds soon thereafter.
Tinkerbell was good for Greg!!!!!

How in the world did Sally Julian get this job?
