This always made me laugh because despite the title and the lyrics, the way she's performing this song is NOT rock n' roll at all LOL! Pat Boone sang rock n roll songs too--and made them anything but rock n roll. To see a term like Rock n Roll, which was once poor black slang, evolve into so many things is interesting

This is from "Teacher's Pet". Clark Gable has brought Doris Day and her boyfriend Gig Young to this nightclub to see his girlfriend perform - but he's mortified at them seeing her do this cheesy song and dance.
However, I think the rest of us are perfectly happy with Mamie's performance.
