Its not rubbish DazinStokeOnTrent my X trail had 3 new turbo's under warranty from new. This is not uncommon, great car weak engines, shame it's not built by Honda!

Depends how you look after it and what engine and year you have..I wouldn't drive a Honda..i'm 30 years away from retirement!

(A Type R is hardly a car for over 60's)I was implying that Honda build quality is second to none (see JD Power results) and if they were building the X trail it would be a great vehicle. Mine was an oil burner and was treated with reverence but it still spent hours in the workshop! Never again would I buy a Nissan

Thats your opinion (with regards to the type r) At the end of the day opinions will always differ..i've had numerous Sh*te hondas and will never have another, same with vauxhall..my experience with Nissan has been excellent and i will be buying another next time..which won't be for a while as i've never had a day's bother with the one i have now.

The Nissan Xtrail kicks Honda CRV in the ass at every angle. Just look at all the reviews that pitt them against one another. The CR-V always has "slighty" better ON-ROAD comments but once off road, it gets eaten by the x-trail. Also for comfort and looks. Dont worry about StormyTgurl...does she even know what a T Gurl is? lolol

Well done you completely missed the point in my previous post, the X trail is a great vehicle let down by its awful French diesel unit but there is absolutely no way a Nissan matches a Honda in build quality and btw Honda VTEC engines are works of art. Anyways Nissan has long gone replaced with a Mazda CX7 an excellent hack

Probably because turbo-diesels motors are Renault items. The petrol ones are tough as nails.

However i must stress that because you were unlucky with your car doesn't give you the right to try to convince future prospective buyers to avoid this car..it is a great car and many thousands of people will agree and disagree..but i'd rather follow my own judgement.

I'm not trying to convince anybody I'm just relating my experiences not offering opinions: But don't take my word for it go and read WhatCar on line they withdrew their support for this car because of intransient dealers and turbo failure apparently I'm not alone and at 24k a throw it's not funny
