This type of gasifier needs quite chunky chips - in the case of the ones in the video they were prepared by hand (ugh) but there are chippers that can produce the right size, such as the screw-auger type from Laimet. Gas is cleaned by cyclone (coarse particles), condenser (moisture and fine particles) and sawdust filter (fine particles). Residues amount to about 5% char per wet weight of feed. Motor shaft output about 20 kW. Gas consumption depends on the load on the motor and its size.
Where do you obtain the wood chips? do you use any filters to clean the gas? how much is the amount of residues generated by the amount of feed you are putting in? What is the power generated by the motor? the consumption of gas depends on the type of motor right (power of motor)?
Thanks for answering these questions and congratulations!
It is an Otto cycle. Basic spark ignition petrol engine with the carby removed and the gas/air mixture inducted into the manifold. Yes you can run diesels too, but you still need to feed some diesel for the compression ignition (or else retrofit the engine with spark plugs if you want to run on 100% gas).
the 3 liter holden is diesel engine? or otto engine(gas) please don't laugh but i heard that even a diesel engine can run on wood smoke gas (hydrogen)
wood gas is mostly volatile hydrocarbons, CO and H2O there is honestly no fracturing od hydrocarbons producing H2 at typical charcoal fire temperatures....
your typical american landfill doesnt care whats dumped in it. however the many transfer stations that segregate recyclable materials will make you pay for wood because they chip it and sell it to wood pellet manufacturers

Bloody lovely.
Is the fan necessary once the engine is running?

No, you only need the fan for start-up. After that the engine intake vacuum provides the suction to maintain the gas-making process.

40lbs of wood an hour? If you could negotiate with your local landfill to give you all there biomass, wood, paper, stuff that would be awesome.
