To me the rendition of this aria couldn't be more wrong and inappropriate: this aria is sung by Aminta who's a kind of phylosophical character in the plot of Metastasio's "L'Olimpiade". The lyrics infact describe Aminta's disappointment for his beloved pupil Licida together with the other characters of the Opera (Megacle, Aristea and Argene all falling victims of wrong passions and excesses like Love.

And I would have preferred she moved much less and controlled better her breathing.

Thanks for uploading this. I love this aria. Both Kermes and the musicians do an amazing job. I really like the ending that starts at 6:27. Really nice high notes. Clearly she adores this music.

LOL! I actually agree. At times, she can look extremely evil. Still, from personal experience, I know that most of the people who can "scare" you at first actually turn out to be great. So it is perfectly safe to assume she is as a good a person as she is an artist, I think. In any case, she is definitely one of THE sopranos of our time.
