What you got to love about silverchair is that they've never EVER used any kind of pitch correction, overdubs, or sync tracks in their live performance! Sorry to tell you people, but Daniels voice is going to change when he ages...he's not going to have the angelic pitch of a 16 year old kid in his late 20's. He's a man, and now he sings songs that embody life experience..not just teenage angst.

I have to admit it wasn't pulled off perfectly but given the mixing was crap he did a bloody brilliant job. That song is one of the hardest songs to sing, now imagine singing that to millions with hardly any music behind you. I mean listen to the music, I couldn't even hear the piano at the beggining. The music wasn't loud enough. Daniel Johns is easily one of Australia's best singers. Still an Amazing performance, top song, and sung near perfect.

I don't think silverchair have to prove anything to anyone... their achievements speak for themselves. Saw them when they came to the uk on the Neon ballroom tour, one of the best bands i've seen live ever. For my money, they can do whatever the fuck they like.

young modern is an alright album. daniel's voice has really changed compared to frogstomp and neon ballroom. i miss his bad-ass personality. where he's always, 'can i get a hallelujah?!'

silverchair is turning into a bit of electronia and art rock but they are grunge gods! [nirvana are like.. LORD OF ALL GRUNGE AND ROCK]

silverchair is still my favourite band though. HELLLLLLLL YESS.

I don't think this is his best performance, but I also think people need to stop complaining when musicians perform a song that differs from the original recorded version. Do you realize how boring it must get for them to do the same songs the same way, over and over and over again? Of course he's going to change up the vocals.. it doesn't neccessarily mean that it will sound the best, but I think they like to try new things. =)

Yeah, Daniel's voice cracked this time. But from August on, his voice has been amazing. I've been to a couple live shows and he sang perfect. Listen to the entire Pukkelpop festival concert of Silverchair...he sang this song flawless... that's how he sings generally.

Anyone who says his vocals aren't great knows nothing about live performance in the music industry. I suggest these people continue to listen to their lindsay lohan cd's, believing she has a great voice (which has nothing to do with studio alterations)

For me, when his voice breaks up during the choruses it just adds to the emotion.
